You can see that Fontbonne has most of their damage come from their starters while WC has about 20-25 points come off the bench a game.  Im not sure who will match up with who.  Hope might have a better idea as he's seen both teams and I think he commented on it in earlier posts about who might matchup.  FC, Im not sure has seen WC this year, but I think would know possible matchups as well.

If you're looking fora quick Eureka/Mac preview, expect a high scoring affair. The Red Devils have gotten on their hot streak by opening up their offense a bit. EC got most of their wins last season thanks to defense, but this year that just was not working. This game will likely by played in the 80s or 90s even. Expect plenty of 3's from both sides.

I would expect a key matchup to be Sichting vs. Zasada. Sichting doesn't necessarily have to win that matchup, just keep it close enough for his teammates to make of the difference. Darnall traditionally plays very well at Mac. He had 30 in EC's 2ot win there last year. I'm expecting an entertaining game with lots of momentum swings and finally decided by single digits.

sounds like its going to be a solid game. most likely i will be at maryville though. let me know how that goes!

Is it just me or is BLA starting to sound more and more like FC News everday. An alter ego?

Folks, lets get real. The SLIAC is the worst Div III conference in the Midwest. Think not? Name me one that is worse? This week alone, Greenville gets wiped out by a SIU-E that is not even a good DII calibar team this year. On the same night Prin gets beat by double digits by that well known powerhouse St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

Name  me the biggest win in the history of the SLIAC. And not so and so played national power so and so close; or so and so beat so and so in an exhibition game. Fact: the SLIAC has NEVER won a post season game. Think about that. Fontbonne College had some good teams in the 90's but the only time they made the tournament they got beat by 40 in the first round.

The SLIAC is fun to watch, but a great conference? Give me a break.

Fontbonne has often had talent, but they play no defense and that always gets them beat in the big games outside the SLIAC. Fontbonne has more talent this year than I have seen in the conference in a long time; but they always shoot themselves in the foot. This year is a good example. Goofy sceduling, the trip to Hawaii to play a scrimage without three of your top players (and FC your rant about "not one penny" do the players have to pay for these trips was totaly false) and a non conference marathon right in the middle of two big conf games, propably cost them the chance to host the conf trn.

I still think Fontbonne will come out with the AQ and I still think they have a good chance to pick up the SLIAC's first post season win. Lets hope so because if they don't do it this year, it may never happen.

SIU-E is a division 1 program.
SLIAC the worst in the midwest, now you give us a break. It has always been a competitive conference. Although they dont have many tourny wins, the conference is still tough and produces quality teams. I guess if your intentions were to come in here and bash the SLIAC, well job well done. And thanks for your comments, but no thanks.

hot shot   -  good post, though Not even I, perhaps the SLIAC's biggest supporter, have ever called the SLIAC great or implied they were great as compared to any conference in the Midwest or Nationally - you hit the nail on the head when you said the SLIAC is fun to watch - because there are so many even matchups that are so meaningful to determination of the Conf tourney teams.

As far as great wins - in the 6 or 7 years I've been watching SLIAC basketball, my mind goes to the Maryville team led by Bash and his classmates that beat NAIA teams McKendree at home, and followed with a win at Mo Bap - the at Mo Bap win is the best I've seen of a SLIAC team over a non conference foe

Enjoyed your observation about the cost of the trip ;)

The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

one and  -  I'm afraid hot shot is likely correct in the SLIAC's ranking as a conference in the Midwest  -    the CCIW is obviously far ahead, and I don't think top to bottom that the SLIAC ranks above the HCAC (Indiana) the NATHC (no Ill) or the MWC (Iowa, Ill).  That is not to say that the better SLIAC teams wouldn't be competitive with SOME of the teams in these conferences....

current year :
Blackburn lost to Ill Col (MWC)
Fontbonne lost to Grinnell (MWC)
Eureka lost to Benedictine (NATHC) twice, lost to Monmouth (MWC), BEAT Concordia Ill
Greenville lost to Rockford, Concordia, and Dominican all of the NATHC
Mac lost to Lakeland  (NATHC), Monmouth (MWC) and Benedictine (NATHC)
Maryville, Webster, Westmin and Prin, have played none of the 3 conf

That's 1 - 11 !!!!!

This does point out that there is ample opportunity to add schools from these conferences to the schedule, getting rid of the Bible schools, the pharmacies, the chiropractors....   Of course there are other D3 schools on the schedules - the SLIAC hasn't fared much better against them  -  the SLIAC total record YTD vs D3 schools is 15 - 34

Sorry Hotshot. I have only one poster name. I was told who BLA is an if it's true I don't mind being compared to the kid.

Hotshot are you sure your not the late "Last Word"? If so I'm glad you made your own email address.

You and Hope can try and bait all you want about the trip. Niether commented on the post about the trip, made by a FU parent.

The SLIAC is what it is. No one is holding a gun to your head to follow it. If your just frustrated about something and looking for a punching bag. Swing away.

Not one other post about Webster's milestone win? That's amazing.

y_jack_lok

In the great wins column one for consideration might be Webter's win over Wash U in the 2003-2004 season. Granted, this was the season after Chris Jeffries graduated form Wash U, but it was still a win for the Gorloks.

Websters win was huge for them. Congrats to the coach and the players

You can't pull for Webster tonight because they played last night - beat Principia. Although I took issue with what you said a couple days ago, I am not one of those who knocked down your karma. I do not even know how to do that. Even if I did, I would not, because I think it is chickensh__.  ;)

i believe, but im not sure if its true, that i posted that i was pulling for webster yesterday.if i wrote that today, well its been a long day haha. sorry for my mistake...  but i really thought i posted that yesterday. im happy for them and the coach in their big win though!
