QuoteGreenville's Laphonso Ellis - well maybe - but in the lone Gville game I saw, he disappeared for a whole half after a super first half.
Hopefan--I believe the 2nd half of the game you saw Ellis did have a great game and due to lack of touches from his teammate disappeared the second half. But, continued to give out assists and rebound. Wasn't so much that Ellis wasn't in the game performing, but more so a team that wouldn't pass him the ball when he had opportunities. The times he got the ball he was creating opportunities for the team.

Anyways, HUGE game for Gville tomorrow and a must win!!!

Sidenote- Ellis is 7points away from his 1000th point, wanted to wish him luck for such a big milestone.

Gville panther - any chance you will be at Maryville - Gville game tonite?  PM me if so  -  perhaps we could exchange some scores - I will be at Fontbonne  --   looking forward to coming over to greenville on Saturday....

I think Maryville gets a win over an uninspired Greenville team tonight.

Eureka wins to stay alive.

And Fontbonne has a let down tonight and Webster handles them.

I will also go out and guarantee that WC doesnt lose tonight.

fcnews

LET DOWN ?????? Have you not been watching ESPN. It's Rivalry WeeK. And there is none Bigger the this one. Both teams are fighting for their lives. Webster might get a win. But, it won't because of a Let Down.

juniormint

Just trying to stir the board, FC.  Its the most important time of the year besides the SLIAC tournament and its dead on here.  Glad I got a response.  And Id say any of the kids from FU who read that would probably think just like you did.  It should be a good game, I just think WU gets it done tonight where FU doesnt.  Do I really have any basis whatsoever on that opinion?  No.

Rivalry week has been sick.  MU monday, Kentucky last night...you had to feel for Calathes missing those FT's.  UNC will squeek by Duke tonight...hopefully.

hopefan

Wish I had the confidence in Webster you do Mint - but they'e coming off two pretty sad performances at EC and Spaulding......  on the other hand, Bunch knows how to get it done in the big ones.... I agree with FC - there will be no letdown - if anything, Font may come in too pumped up and start out ugly......  Still as I said before, Webster has won a couple games this year that I said to myself - "HOW???"  I just can't figure how they can do it tonight.......

I don't think the two words LET DOWN will be entering in anyones vocabulary when the Griffins and the Gorloks meet at Lee McKinney gym ... the first game was a 2OT affair and this one could match that one ... I am getting goosebumps just thinking about it
"Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level, then beat you with experience."

juniormint

In let down I meant more of their shooting or games might be off...not that they wouldnt bring the energy needed.  Sorry for confusion.  At least it got people talking.

Juniormint- I would have to completely disagree with you!!!! Greenville is hungry to stay in the top 3 in sliac standings and knows this is a huge game. on top of that the first game greenville played against maryville was a dismal performance on greenville's part. and i hate to say this because i have a lot of repect for coach barber, but a poor poor coaching performance for him. i would look for Greenville to be a completely different team than Maryville saw the first time, especially since greenville is no longer trying to rotate in 20 ppl a game.

SO, i LOOK forward to a Greenville win tonight!!!!

juniormint

the only reason i call for an uninspired performance is it seems westminster handled GC easily on thier homefloor saturday.
i stick by my statement

Gville_Panther

That was Saturday.....today is Wednesday!!!!!!

we could say that about alot of teams that just lost Saturday in unispired performances that they would play uninspired today......
which would be false

I would just make sure Maryville is ready

pantherpride06

I would agree.  To say that Greenville is "uninspired" I think is an unfair statement unless you watched the team play or was in the huddle.

No one in that locker room from coach to the last man is "uninspired."  I know that from talking to many people close to the team and on the team.

Again, unfair statement.  Standing by it or not.

Trying to predict beforehand that any team will be "uninspired" or will "let down" makes absolutely no sense at all.  ???

As I mention boys, don't count my Panthers out....but this is the time that Greenville will come out.  They are fired up from what has happened in the past and will not let their guard down.

GO GREENVILLE

So it is okay to predict a team not letting down and them being fired up but its not okay to predict that maybe they wont have what it takes on the road in the SLIAC against a Maryville team that wants to make the final 4 as well?

So I guess you were in practices and around the team before Saturday's game against Westminster?

From dictionary.com  Inspiration:
to produce or arouse (a feeling, thought, etc.): to inspire confidence in others.

I know from talking to someone close to the Westminster team that Greenville did not in fact play confident, inspirational basketball Saturday.

Last time I checked this is a message board where people are free to voice their opinions.  Based on the factors that are at hand (Greenville got beat handily in an "uninspired" effort, they have to travel to Maryville who just beat WC and lost a close one to FU, and I think (yes thats an opinion) that Maryville will come out with more confidence and energy than Greenville).  My OPINION is that Greenville sees it slipping away while Maryville sees it coming to them.

You're right Panther, I haven't been around a Greenville game, player, practice, coach, or anyone "close to the program" in quite some time.  Maybe I dont know what Im talking about, but I know Im free to voice my opinion just like everyone else.

How is that nonsensical?  How many times have you heard announcers, coaches or fans say something to the effect of man we just pulled off a huge win, or man we just lost a really tough one...I hope we dont have a let down against so and so in our next game.  Let downs are part of sports.  In fact I heard Mike Anderson say that he told his players how important the game was against Iowa St. and not to have a let down before the Kansas game.  You guys are kidding yourselves if you dont think its fair to predict a let down.

Sorry I dont fit the mold of "fair" and "sensical" on here.  Last I checked sports arent fair or sensical so why should we try to be on a message board about sports?

I think it's unfair to say, "Maryville gets a win over an uninspired Greenville team tonight."  No, I'm not saying you aren't able to express your opinion.  But, I am saying to just assume that Greenville or any team is going to come out, uninspired to play is bogus.  What athletic team comes out "uninspired" to play.

Indiana is having the worst season on record and you can't tell me that Tom Crean and the boys are in the locker room in Assembly Hall hanging their heads and "uninspired" to go play Michigan State, or Illinois or whoever.  Arizona played in the Super Bowl and no one expected them to be close.  They didn't play "uninspired."

To say any team is going to go into a game "uninspired" is again bogus.  Seriously.  Give me a break.  You are better than that comment juniormint.
