Just saw where BC's Rod Sykes did not appear in the boxscore. Any news. Great player.

Brian Fogerty moved into 5th all time in scoring. Passing BC's Chris Parker (great player).

Read earlier this week where MC's Miller tied the single game rebounding record off 22. Tied with WC's Jason White, who did it in '96.

We give alot of attention to scoring. How about the other parts of the game.

Which of the following will stand the longest:
22 rebounds, Jason White - '96 / Frederick Miller - '09
11 steals, PC's Tucker Fendon - '05
20 assists, FU's Stacey Ross - '94
15 blocks, FU's Roy Woods - '95

These are all conference single game marks. Must happen during a conference game, only.

Food for thought!!!

Sykes was ejected very late in the game against Eureka on Wednesday for making contact with an official. I'm not sure if he sat out because of an NCAA suspension or Blackburn suspension, but I'm pretty sure one of those two is why he didn't play against Webster. I don't think it was because of an injury or something else.

Sorry its been a while since i posted. I have watched sykes play a couple of times this season. He has been the most ejected player in the sliac and probably division 3. Although he is a stellar player he definatly has an attitude problem and flys off the handle quite often over very small problems. All in all, if he hopes to have success at Blackburn next year, a major attitude adjustment is necessary!
Baseball players get to every base.

So how do I think the remaining four league games will work out, and what will be the resulting tourney matchups...

anyone interested....

Well, this Wednesday night Webster is at Maryville - I'm just so disappointed in the goings on at Maryville - and I can't think that some of the remaining players are pleased either - I just don't see how the group can be 'UP'    --   Webster surely will be   -  a Webster win

then two games Saturday
Eureka at Westmin  -  NOBODY who follows SLIAC hoops would want to deny Eureka a win - they've come so far - but the win is crucial for Westmin too, and most of the matchups favor them - I think Westmin wins this one, but will be pulling for Eureka to pull off one more upset - I will never ever forget the Eureka Fontbonne game...

Greenville at Webster  -  if Webster beats Maryville as predicted, they could come into this one a little flat.  If the Greenville team that I saw vs Fontbonne shows up (Laphonso - it's up to you - one last BIG game), this is prime territory for an upset  -  I LOVE upsets - Greenville

Then the big Kahuna - Westmin vs Fontbonne - and you know, with this game as big as it is, I'll go with the team with the best players - Fontbonne - please guys - COMPOSURE, and some SMART hoops

so if that happens

Fontbonne 12-4
Westmin 12-4
Webster 11-5
Maryville 10-6
Eureka 10-6
Greenville 10-6

Fontbonne would have swept Westmin and earns host
in the 3 way tie for 4th
Maryville would have split with Eureka and swept Greenville
Greenville would have swept Eureka and been swept by Maryville
Eureka was swept by Greenville and split with Maryville  -  Maryville would earn 4th place  at this point, a darned shame

so the semis would be Westmin vs Webster, and Maryville vs Fontbonne   at Fontbonne.

Greenville is IN if they beat Webster AND Webster loses to Maryville, While Westminster beats Eureka.

Hopefan, I am still trying to get my mind around this last scenario (above in quotes). Tell me where I am wrong in this thinking (I'm sure you will ;D). If this last combo occurs we have WC, FU and MU in the first 3 slots. We then have a 3-way tie with WU, EC and GC all at 10-6. The situation becomes somewhat similar to the problem in the Big 12 South football, where Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Texas were tied, and head to head was not sufficient to break it, and both Texas and TT felt they got screwed.
In this case EU beat WU twice, and are clearly better than WU in head-to head. GC beat EC twice, and are clearly better than EC in head-to head. Yet WU and GC split, and there is no reason based on that for GC to be IN over WU. You have a problem putting any one of these above both the other two based on head-to-head.
If that is valid, then we go to the next step. If WC and FU are the top 2, then Webster has a split vs. WC and 2-0 vs. FU.  GC is 0-2 vs. WC and 1-1 vs. FU. EU is 0-2 vs. WC and 1-1 vs. FU. On that basis WU would be IN, not Greenville.
Of course, all we have to do is wait until Wed. night, when WU beats MU, and all this is moot, and Yjak is right in that all we do with this speculation is waste a lot of time.

Furbug - either you or I are all wrong on this - Probably me  -  let's take a look
in this scenario..

Greenville beats Webster and has 6 losses, Maryville beats Webster, taking Webster to 6 losses, and Eureka loses to Westmin, finishing with 6 losses

3 way tie Web, EC, and GC     head to head for the 3

EC swept by GC, swept Web   so they are 2-2

GC swept EC, split with Webster   so they are 3-1

Webster swept by EC, split with GC   so they are 1-3

Greenville wins the head to head

I BELIEVE, unlike your scenario, that head to head means the record vs ALL tied teams......  in this scenario Webster :'( :'(

And I would say doing things one enjoys, such as these tables, and speculating, should not be referred to as a waste of time...... ;)

I'll say this in all honesty, I would not wanting to be facing MU at home Wednesday nite. Coach Rogers has gone with the line up of Winters, Gruenewald, Nehm, Simmons and Dulle. Brand new team. Koopman and Saxton getting minutes from the reserve role. Hopefan has commented on Simmons and Dulle. Winters and Gruenewald will put it up. You can almost count on 20 3's attempted.

This could be a tough group. Or their preparing for next year. Would rather wait til tourney time to face them again.

Interesting. I had not thought like that. I take it to mean head-to-head against each other on a case by case basis. We may never find out, and to do so would be the hard way as far as I am concerned. :(  I am hoping for my scenario, where Webster wins the remaining three and removes all doubt.

Perhaps you are right on that, but it might be hard to convince Yjak of such.  :-\

Unless your doing it on company time...... ;D

I am definitely doing this on company time, but we need to keep that among ourselves.  ;)

hopefan

Today is President's day - So while I am in the office, I'm on my own time

Why who would EVER dream of being on D3hoops on Company time?? ;D

Company ?  I'm here by myself, I have no company.... ;D ;D

Having no Company sounds like a personal problem. ;D

Fogerty put up better numbers this past week, then he did to win last week POW.

25.5 points and  12 rebounds against two quality teams. Those seem like POY numbers. But.... there are alot of good numbers being put up.

Kudos to Chris Forrest for the defensive work. Great game against Winters, didn't let Hrdlicka kill us and shut out Cochrane. Good work while still putting up points.

JAdaPrince

Fogerty did have good numbers but his team was 1-1 ... as it relates to POY, the best on the best team - especially in a closely contested race

Are you referring to what I said a few pages back, hopefan? If so, here is what I said:

"I think I must be jealous that my mind is incapable of processinig all these possible scenarios. It's a great analytical exercise, but other than that I don't much see the point...But for those of you who enjoy it, have at it."
