Eureka stayed hot, winning game # 10 out of 12 Thursday night, 87-70 over Lincoln Christian.  This was a much better win than it sounds. LCC came in 16-11 overall, 9-1 at home and on a school record 13-game winning streak.

There was a great crowd on hand as well for senior night in Lincoln.  The entire side opposite the benches was packed.

The 1st half was very even with 6 points being the largest lead. There were 9 lead changes and 7 ties. Fittingly, the game was 43-43 at halftime.

Eureka took charge in the 2nd half, holding LCC to 27 points, while putting 44 on the board. EC did not trail in the half, opening up as large as a 20 point lead.

Four Red Devil starters scored in double figures: Wildenradt 19, Bell 18, Zasada 15, Kindred 15. EC sank 13 three-pointers, but had plenty of turnovers (23). EC held LCC to 25 percent shooting in 2nd half. Lots of free throws both ways. EC was 18-27, LCC 19-32.

This hopefully will be a good game to get Eureka ready for Saturday. It was a loud, supportive crowd against a confident team. Lincoln plays a different style than Westminster, however.

Good luck to the Preachers in the NCCAA playoffs. They should to well in those.

ECSID  good job on reviewing my scenarios EC  -  it means someone went over them closely -  I agree with you on the two errors you caught, and have corrected so as not to confuse anyone.  I didn't go past the record vs teams in the standings, so will give you credit and assume you are correct on the road win tiebreaker....

Thanks for taking the time!!!!

I had originally planned on going to Westmin Eureka, but the Webster Gville game becomes even more crucial to BOTH teams, so Iwill attend that game...

why crucial to BOTH teams....    while the Winner of Webster Greenville is not guaranteed a spot in the tourney,   The LOSER of the Webster Greenville game is definitely OUT.   BOTH teams are playing to stay alive for next weekend - the winner still has to watch the scoreboard

If Webster wins, they are in unless Westmin loses to both Fontbonne and Eureka.

If Greenville wins, they are in unless Eureka beats Westmin

Greenville will know its playoff fate by the end of Saturday afternoon (EECSID please send your score ASAP)    Webster may have to wait until Tuesday night

hopefan -- I tweaked my program a bit this morning to add the option of seeing a detailed printout of all remaining scenarios and the resulting standings, and it agrees with what you posted yesterday (as corrected by eureka_sid).

If you are interested, I can even post all the possible scenarios and standings for ALL remaining games (not assuming the contenders beat the bottom 3).  There are only 256 of them, and they only make your head hurt a little bit.  Anyone?  Yeah, I didn't think so.

Darryl - thanks for the continuing interest......

From reading posts on the SLIAC womens board, I think MU better come ready to play next Tuesday nite at BC. MU @ BC womens game has been a topic for awhile. It appears that students are taking matters into their own hands. ........ .Flashback to the 70's. Way to go for it. Your parents will be proud. It's what they probably would of done.

Could this atmosphere have a carry over to the Men's Game? Always a tough place to play. Any team with Rod Sykes and Doehring are capable of being more then MU really wants to see. Strange things have happened in the Beaver Dome.

FC  GREAT point about the atmosphere carrying over to the men's game - I had mentioned two weeks ago that I wouldn't want to be Maryville and need a win at BC to clinch a playoff spot, but had forgotten all about it.  But wow, can you imagine if that gym is packed with BC students already wound tight from a great women's game????  TOUGH place to play!

However when I ran through a Maryville loss to BC scenario, the loss would only cost them a playoff spot in one additional scenario, as they seem to have some positive tiebreaker advantages over the teams they would move into ties with.   It would shake up the matchups however!!!

We plan on packing the place well before tipoff of the womens BC vs. MU game. Maryville has a winning streak on the line that BC will be looking to put to an end to.
It's going to be a packed gym and as we know the Beaver Dome is not a big place for seating thus making the enviornment that much more intense by squeezing so many people into one little place.
We will as well be going crazy for the mens game. We are going to be gaining a big home court advantage thanks to the student section.

Will do, Hopefan. I was hoping to see you at our game Saturday and I do believe you are passing up the best game on the schedule for the day, but I can understand the draw of the Greenville/Webster match up.

And yes, I always read your posts with a fine tooth comb. Because A) I value your opinion and recaps and B) know you are prone to errors  ;D .

EC_SID - EC's run has not gone unnoticed by all. Very danerous team when 3's are falling.

Mac takes MU to the wire but loses by 1 (91-90). Other two games weren't exactly close.

EC made a hell of a run. Does MU still need to best BC? Or does that reduce us to four?

No, at 10-6 tie EC would have tie breaker over MU.

Don't have a final, but Westminster was up 20 when I left with 7:00 to play.  The game was very close the entire 1st half...maybe a 5-pt margin at half.  It got away from Eureka in the 2nd though.

The Blue Jays are a very solid team, and guard Jason Warncke is a pleasure to watch.

The was my second trip to Fulton - saw the Maryville game.

Having seen Fontbonne twice and Westminster twice, I'd love to see these two square off - very, very even in my eyes.
