another problem with Zimmerman is the lack of exposure - the last place team is rarely seen as often, or watched as intently, as other teams.

This indirectly ties into letting ALL teams into the tourney - an opportunity for everyone to be seen under the same roof...... - (although granted, perhaps higher seeds would host on campus first round to cut back on some travel.....

This would of been a great year for a six team tourney. #1 and #2 get byes, #3 vs. #6 and #4 vs. #5. Four remaining teams at #1 seed.

It's sad to see the career end for 7 seniors. For 5 of them, they were freshmen in 2005-06 when the team went 4-22. Then their sophomore year, they made it to the SLIAC championship game and were the most improved team in NCAA Division III. They can certainly say they left the EC program in better shape than they found it. Thanks guys!

This big turn around came the year they joined the SLIAC. Their four wins the year before all came aganist SLIAC teams. Draw your own conclusions.

Looks like a good weekend of hoops in STL.  Mens and Womens SLIAC tourneys, Wash U at home, lots of good district matchups in 4A 5A, end of regular season for lower classes.

Im sure the 5 and 6 would definitely go for that.

What would the schedule look like if that were the case?  Thursday play in games?  Saturday and Sunday semis and championship?

Does Greenville compete in the NCCAA tourney?

*Sorry hotshot, this isn't a Lifetime Achievement award.

No he already recieved that award in '92. Induction into Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.

Problem with the Thurs., Sat. and Sunday format is, Greenville does not play Sunday contests. Greenville does have dual affiliation with NCCAA. Not sure if EC does.

Some of the 6 team tourney conferences go Monday or Tuesday, then Friday semis, Saturday finals.

That would necessitate The conference moving their final league game back to Saturday like everyone else.  Only the SLIAC and the SCIAC play league games on Tuesday with the Tourney still coming on the weekend.... Why?

strange absences the last several days - where are our regulars?  Webster made the tourney, didn't they???  Hoping to see Yjak and Furbug at the Font tonight...  Nice to see all the Fontbonne / Maryville team members supporting the ladies last night -  Westminster had a good crowd of family - Blackburn had about 25 students....

Somehow this season, the tourney seems a little anticlimactic.... It was such a great race until last Saturday, then all the blowouts Saturday and Tuesday kind of popped the balloon

It will take something special for Maryville to compete with Fontbonne tonight.... with only Menard and Dulle as inside presence, it's hard to imagine they can stop an offense that pushes the ball into the paint...  IF MU has a special night shooting, and if Font gets carried away with run and gun, it could give MU a chance... and Rogers has a history of getting his team to compete in special games.  Let's hope Font sees what they have to do to win and takes care of business.

Webster Westmin - Webster is on the upswing, Westmin has to be disappointed not to be hosting....   Westmin should win, but again, coach Bunch always has these guys ready in must win situations...

Does Fontbonne want to play against that methodical Webster game plan that has beaten them 2x this year, or against Westmin, who hasn't been able to stop Fogerty or Forest.....  I think 'Foges' would like another shot at Webster, to go out truly on top.....

hopefan, I will be there tonight. We have a number of new posters who are making fine contributions to the site. I've enjoyed reading what they have had to say. I'll post if I think I have something useful to say. This post was not useful. :D

Hopefan, surely furbug will be at the games tonight. His recent absence on the posting site has been due to the fact that he has not had much constructive to add to what has been said, although that has sometimes not stopped him in the past, and he is not really into guessing as to the all-conference selections.

A few of the outcomes that furbug predicted on February 6 (page 431) have gone astray in terms of the winners of the individual games that were left at that time, but he did manage to accurately predict the final four then. The important prediction, that Webster wins the tourney, will have to wait until Sat. night. If that occurs, and furbug expects that it will, you will hear from furbug at that time. Should it not occur, I doubt that you will hear from him. He can be a sorehead at times. ::)

Good Luck to All Tonite. Should be a great nite of basketball. Plus as good a chance as we'll have for a sizeable crowd. All Missouri Semi's on a Friday nite?

This is why you gotta love this game.

All expectations met - 2 outstanding games, every kid giving their all - can't beat it....couldn't help but feeling bad for the Maryville kids - that's it for most of them - they won't be in games like this next year.

I'll have to let Hopefan detail the first game. As see saw more then I.

I do know Ryan Turk left everything he had on the floor, 40 pts. Unstoppable. I still don't understand how Webster lost. The Gorloks opened the door a WC did a good job of taking advantage.

WC was without Stanely Crawford for the whole overtime period. He fouled out just before the end of regulation.

In the night cap it was again the tail of two halfs. The Saints were on fire from downtown in the first half Gruehewald and Winters combined for 7-12 from 3's. Tyler "Tourney time" Saxton hit a 35 ft runner before the half buzzer and the score was tied 40-40. Saints were not going to let Fogerty beat them. He saw two and sometimes 3 bodies rushing him everytime he caught it.

2nd half: back and forth for the first 12+ minutes. FU made some defensive changes and held the Saints to only 27 second half points. Gruenewald hit one 3. He and Winters went 1-9 second half. Then things went south for the Saints. Justin Storandt took alittle offense to being left unguarded. He put on a heck of a show in the low post. 7-10 from the floor 16 pts. , 10 rebounds , 6 Blks and 4 steals. Fogerty was solid when the time was right 16 points 8-8 ft, 12 rebounds. Patrick McCoy had as solid a game as uou could want. Pat had 17 pts 8 assists 4 rebs 2 blks 2 steals. Solid performance.

It was about a four minute run. MU made some big turnovers that limited runs. Fontbonne had 12 steals, Storandt 4 and clogged passing lanes.

It was a great night of basketball.

To the Gorloks seniors. Thanks! It's been a pleasure watching your career. What a career.
