Wow, I'm not sure what to say other than thank you very much, former Commish. That means a lot coming from someone with as much experience as a coach and administrator as you do. I certainly don't take those comments lightly as they are high praise indeed.

It's things like this that allow me to hold my head up high when thinking about what I accomplished at Eureka. It is sad that so many people at other schools appreciated what I did, while some closest to me had little idea.

Unfortunately, the decision to get rid of me it just the most recent of Eureka's many missteps in recent years and I'm afraid it will get worse before it gets better. If Eureka doesn't land on its feet, it won't be because I'm not there. It will be the culmination of a lot of poor decisions, most having to do with personnel.

Thanks again Former Commish. Your support over the years has meant a lot and I appreciate the opportunities you gave me to "stretch my wings" while you were commissioner.

Webster is the First SLIAC school to post their 2009-10 schedule...  as always, Coach Chris Bunch has lined up a solid non conference schedule to prepare the Team for the SLIAC Conference...  though a portion of the schedule remains unidentified  due to two in season touneys.

The 9 non conference games are At Illinois Wesleyan, at the Maryville Tennessee Classic (the other 2 teams not identified), at Millikin, hosting the Webster Classic (Hendrix / the other 2 teams not identified), Cornell at home,  Coe at home, and at Wash U.   Conference games are all at 3:00 Saturdays, 8:00 Wednesdays ...   no rotating times with the women.

Well this thread is getting boring, so I'll just state what I believe; Westminster will win the conference easily this upcoming year. Any thoughts or opinions?

fcnews

Win the conference "Easily". ??? What are you basing this on? Do you have info you can share on newcomers? And by conference do you mean regular season or the whole thing?

Looks like some early season CCIW match ups. WU at IWU, FU at Elmhurst and WU hosting Millikan.

FU will have Wash U. and RHIT at home for sure. I'll try to get an updated schedule.

As I pointed out in my April 17 post:

"However, there is significant quality returning, led by second team all conf Stanley Crawford (14.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg) - he has the ability to take over a game.  Also back is All conference defense Ky Millard (8.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg), my 6th man of the year Jake Vislay (12.6 ppg, 3.6 rpg) an exciting slashing leaper, and shooter Kurt Kovach (8.3 ppg, 4 rpg), who was on the conference all tourney team.  Beyond that Westmin will have to do it with inexperienced or new faces- but Coach Mitchell has done it before"

Four very solid players return  -  for Westmin, it seems to be a matter of Coach Mitchell finding legitimate minutes from 3 or 4 more players.

Westmin should certainly be a contender.   AC  are you aware of any recruiting results?

I have overheard that Skylar Tolson from Columbia Rockbridge was going to Westminster; however I am not certain on this. I have seen him play and he will get minutes right away. Brian Schlemmer is also said to be a Blue Jay - do not know much about him, though.

ac  -  hope you will continue to post once the season gets started  -  we've generally had scores and feedback from the Illinois schools, and FC, Yjak and I see virtually all St Louis schools' games, but we've never had a consistant poster from Westimin to let us know what's happening out west.....   keep up with the jays progress and comment whenever!!!!

Wow!  Lots to catch up on since I last posted following the conclusion of the Panther Basketball season.  Few things...

1. Sorry EC_SID for what happened.  Very unfortunate.  I enjoyed working with you a little bit on some different things!  I hope you find another gig soon.

2. Speaking of new gigs, I have a new job.  I'm Athletic Events Coordinator at Mesa State College (NCAA II School in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) in Grand Junction, Colorado!  Very excited about that.

3.  I'll get a sneak preview of the '09-10 Panthers this week.  :)

Good ' Ol Pride!!! I remember when he just a rookie at GC. My how they grow up.

Recruiting outlook: After last year, I will not mention names. Signing your financial aid and registering for classes do not lock into any thing. First day of classes?

FU has committed (?), 5 newcomers and four with experience. Juco transfers - 6'7 post (from the southeastern part of the state), 6'4 GF ( from Il.) and a 6'3 local. Big news is the commitment from a 6'7 HS post from the southwest part of the state. And Lisch, who I hear is playing of the summer team after the fourth.

FC  what happened last year?  I don't remember hearing of kids whom we though were coming but didn't show up?   Of course, at my age, I don't remember much of anything!!!! ;D ;D

My bad. Received my info by text. Said " Beat WU bad". I replied "how bad?". My answer was "Like 30". I'll consider my source from now on. Hopefan - You ought to give Coach Randy a call and find out where the the league is playing this week on Thursday. Watch a little Street " I mean " summer league ball and give us a report.
