Frostbite, Maryville played SLU several years ago with their best group - Bash, Hebl, Regan, Elwell and Klein - a group that beat both McKendree and Mo. Bap - but they got kicked by SLU.  Fontbonne had arranged to play SLU through Coach Soderburg (formerly a D3 Coach) , but the fat man Majerus scuttled it.
Personally, I don't think a SLIAC team would ever be competitive with SLU - A CCIW team, a Wash U, might at its best be able to make things interesting, but not a SLIAC team  -  too much quickness, too much size, too much strength at a level not seen in the SLIAC.

Was wondering if you were going to travel to see Westmin play next week - hope you'll be able to give us a writeup one way or the other....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I will not be able to attend WC's game at Illinois College this weekend. However I should have a solid report on the game from someone who will be there. I will be at the game vs. Central MO next week. It may be a hard to game watch as Central MO has already beaten a D1 team this year but it will be my first chance to see some of the new Blue Jays in action.

Traffic Report: Big Bend overpass was not reopened yesterday. They are still saying by friday.

SLU vs. a SLIAC team would not be fair! didnt matter what team or what year they would play, SLU would kill. They would be too fast, strong, and just GOOD. That is why those players are D1 and not D3. Now Wash. U might have a chance bc of thier players but I think thier coach. A team like that could make it a game but a team like Webster, and Fontbonne......NO >:(  I agree with HOPEFAN.

Right! It was not open at 10:00 this morning.  :P

There have been some SLIAC squads that have faired well against lower level D1 teams the past couple years. Just saying it would be interesting to see what would happen when one of the experienced/top SLIAC teams played a mid-major D1 team.  I saw SLU play a NAIA team the other day and the NAIA team was up 1 in the middle of the 2nd half. SLU ended up winning by 12 or so. The NAIA team SLU played was under .500 last year. If there were ever a year a good SLIAC team could hang with SLU it would probably be this year.

Aways outthere

FU played AP @ AP last year ( exhibition ) Hung with them about 28 minutes, but lost by 20. I think 20 or around 20. They got a lot of banners. NCAA, NIT, Conf.

I should have added that, if it is not open on the weekend, it is no big deal to just take Big Bend south to Clayton Rd., go East to Bellevue, then go south to Dale, then west again to Big Bend. That will work, and take only a few minutes out of the way.   8)

Late Nite game begins at 9pm tonite at the DSAC. Come see your favorite Alumni still hoopin' it.

Post game party for Alumni and Friends will be at Duffy's.

Early Vegas line had the Alumni as a slight favorite. ;D

Great time last nite on the campus of FU. My favorite nite of the year. Alumni, family and friends showed up in a big way. Late Nite shirts were gone pretty quick. Nice to see a couple of posters in attendance. I'm sure we'll see you at the first home game.

Sad moment: About 3 minutes into the game, big man Mike Riva went down with what appears to be a serious knee injury. This poster sends his prayers that it isn't. Mike lost most of his entire freshmen year with an ankle injury.

Big Bend Bridge over 40 still not open Sat. afternoon - swing over to the Bellevue Ave. overpass as I previously suggested.

Thanks bugman  -  hoping I'll see you for Webster ladies, though may get tied up with lucn,h with one of my kids....  hoping all SLIAC fans will trek over to watch Mac play at Wash U at 3:00   -  if any of our new writers go, find me -- usually upstairs, mid court 3rd or 4th row   -  one of the old guys :D :D

Sorry to hear about Riva - hope it's not as bad as initial FC report hints -  this could make Fontbonne even smaller.....

Pretty cool that an advertisement for Fontbonne Open House appears at the top of the opening page of D3Boards   -  though I'm not sure how many high school students are aware of the site.....

You're welcome, Hopefan. I knew it was still closed  because I went to Wash. U. and back this afternoon and watched Webster soccer ladies lose  2-1 in OT to Wash. U. - tough one to lose.  :( I walked out with two of the Gorlok basketball ladies and told them it saved me from a tough decision. Had Webster won, their soccer team would have played up there again tomorrow at 1:00, same time as the bb game.

Watch the news tonight for highlights of the Webster High vs. Chaminade football quarterfinal finish. WGHS won 34-29 in what was one of the most unbelievable finishes to a high school fb game. ::)

WC gets beat bad on the road by Illinois college 84-63.  I was not there, but heard the game was closer than the final score.  Word is Kovach and Crawford played well, but the team didn't shoot it well and overall didn't play well.
