ouch  -  Westminster is one of the favored teams in the SLIAC;  Illinois College was picked to finish 8th of 10 in the MWC by coaches - kinda gives some perspective...

At Wash U, MacMurray was beaten badly by Wash U, on a day where Wash U really didn't shoot the ball as well as they normally do....  Highlights for mac was the aggressive play of Jerel Robertson - a 6'3" wide body who really banged with the Bears - showed good strength to the basket, got on the floor for loose balls....   Frosh Brady Slagle looked good starting at guard in his first Varsity game - was not intimidated by the National champs aggressive defense, stuck a couple of 3 pointers and made his free throws.  All Conference Ryan Sichting was overmatched and played with fouls most of the game, never got started.

Having seen Westmin and Mac play Wash U, Mac still has a ways to go....

I noticed in the IC v. WC boxscore, Crawford did not start. Still got his minutes and 19 fg attempts. I wouldn't expect him to continue coming of the bench. Must be something else to this.

FrostBite

I believe the starters for the WC v. IC game were Vislay, Crawford, Kovach, Mallete, and Gilmore. Not sure why Millard didnt start, maybe because he missed some practices and off season workouts due to soccer. I would assume he will starting shortly.

It appears from the boxscore that the two freshman from Rockbridge had solid first games.

It doesnt get any easier as WC travels to Central MO tommorow evening.

The Blackburn men open up play tonight at home at 7pm against Lincoln Christian. I have high hopes for this upcoming season out of the boys..with new players here as freshmen and transfers, this season is looking like a great one. The womens team should be a contender as well as they are the pre-season favorites.

Thanks for the info, Frostbite. The boxscore on the IC website showed Millard did start and Crawford didn't. But, it's probably an early season error by the stat crew.

Things don't look good for FU's Mike Riva. Not a complete tear. Doctors are still deciding options. Don't look for him anytime soon.

Shawnee Baptist College, a four-year school run by a Louisville fundamentalist church, Shawnee Baptist Church. I don't think that SBC is affliated with any larger athletic organization, including the NCCAA.

Eureka opens up Wednesday at Rockford.  Looks like they did a number on greenville.  will be a good game for EC to see how they stack up against greenville who was picked to finish ahead of them.

Looked like Ellis didnt start according to the box score.  Agomo had a nice game with 16 and 7.  I wonder if Cochran would have made a difference?  Either way greenville will have to learn to play without him this year.

The Greenville box score reveals an even bigger absence than Cochrane  -  that no one had caught or mentioned before  -  no longer on the roster is AJ Brooks.   While the loss of Cochrane didn't bother me because Rashod Seaton was playing better at point last year, the loss of Brooks is a crusher  -  Greenville has always lacked for size, and Brooks introduction to the program at midseason last year finally solved that issue.   They are now back to the usual athletic but undersized team.

I'm sure that this is the main reason for the coaches having them down at 5th in the preseason poll..  The loss of Brooks makes them a completely different team.

The group listed as starters is very small, wondering if  Ellis was on the bench for health, injury or discipline reasons....  Groves 6', Seaton 5'10", Fisher 6', Agomo 6'2"  and Trager at 6'4".  Also Trager, who looked like an inside banger last year with little scoring ability, attempts 6 3 point shots and has no rebounds  -  is the box score messed up?

Telling stat... Greenville 25 turnovers.

Hopefan - I can almost promise you that the loss of Brooks was never brought up before the coaches poll. There was 0 discussion before the poll was assembled. That was why I said it was so useless.

Congrats to Dynasty on BC's win. I don't know anything about LCC, but a win is a win.

The SLIAC needs some wins. I am personally worried about FU's opener. Just because of their size, not their record.

Hopefan - 3 am?  ???

Official Injury Report: FU's Mike Riva is done for the season. He will have ACL surgery during Christmas Break. Shame. Great kid. Lost freshmen year to ankle injury. No hardship needed. Mike is a great student and will graduate on time.

Looked like Ellis didnt start according to the box score.

I noticed that, also. But, like the WC v. IC boxscore showed Millard starting and Crawford not. Frostbite corrected my assumption
