I have not seen a box score yet, but that Webster 72-51 win at Spalding looks pretty darn good to me. Great day for Webster, and great start to 2010, as the Webster women won the first game 63-52.  ;D
Happy New Year!!

There are some idiots, like Alwaysoutthere, on this board who know nothing about college basketball.

Hopefan's thoughts come from a world of basketball experience and a real love of D3 hoops, especially in the SLIAC. He is a knowledgeable, fair, and unbiased commentator whose remarks are almost always right on target.

If you disagree with him, back your opinions up with some facts, not some incoherent drivel that shows a lack of knowledge and out-of-control emotions. It would also be helpful if here was an attempt at using some semblance of proper grammar.

Hear, hear.

Hopefan I take real exception to  your remarks about former FU players. Your an observer.  What kind of player where you ?

Aways outthere,
I know how old hopefan is. I don't know how old you are. I'm guessing he's probably twice your age but I'd give you 10-1 odds he'd still kick your butt in any game of hoops you choose to play.

Ditto that, too!

In a game remarkably similar to their loss to Spalding back in December, Fontbonne loses to Eureka at home after having a double digit lead in the first half...  They really lose it in the last 5 minutes after playing a solid game for 35 minutes.  But when they come down to huge possessions at crunch time, there were turnovers, missed free throws, the ball not finding its way to Branch or Forest.....  basic offensive befuddlement  -  very disappointing... and Lisch sits most of the game, only to be thrust in at the end to guard Zasada - Lisch is not a center or power forward- Zasada ate him up.  On the other hand Zasada ate everyone up, and if it wasn't him, it was Bell...  who sat most of the 2nd half with four fouls.

other points - please get Forest the ball more, in the middle - he's going to score or get fouled 80% of the time
Should Jarrott Buford see more time?  He gets the ball up the floor and seems to work well
with Branch

Branch should watch Wash U and work harder without the Ball - he stays primarily on the perimeter and has to beat people off the dribble rather than an easier catch and shoot.

Fontbonne's downfall happened when Eueka went to zone with 6 minutes left

Critical misses from the free throw line - just like vs Spalding
Jamal Thomas looked better tonite - maybe he can help  -  but Sean Gibson will need some time - terribly out of synch...

For Eureka- what a fun team to watch
A little too showy from Bell and Kindred at times, but it sure spices up the game

in the shadows of Zasada, Bell and Kindred is Andy Leppard -- he has come a long way fom last year when he was only a 3 point shooter - much more active with a couple of beautiful offensive rebounds, 11 rebounds total at 6'1" - he's a legit player

2 names to watch   soph Austin Nicholas, a couple of critical jumpers off the bench, and frosh Mark Lessen , 6'7" got 10-15 minutes, banged the boards hard for a frosh, and stuck several short jumpers after getting the ball in the middle

Mike Zasada - now clearly the early choice for SLIAC MOP....  unstoppable... 12/18,  3/7 from 3's, 6/7 from the line, and acts and plays like a really good kid  (though admittedly must have said the wrong thing a little too loudly and got a T)

Great win for Eureka, bad loss for Fontbonne - they can't keep letting this type of game get away from them, especially at home.

The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

The score that surprises me the most is Prin by 17 over BC.

While I wouldn't necessarily have expected a win by Webster at Spalding, I'm not tremendously surprised, although the 21 point margin is an eye-opener. I think the Gorloks are playing strong defense. They certainly did in the game against Coe.

Mac losing by nine at WC, plus Mac's home win over Webster signal that they are not to be taken lightly. Don't let the 1-9 record fool you. Mac played a brutal non-conference schedule.

Hopefan said it all regarding the Eureka/FU game.

BREAKING NEWS.

I have a confirmed report that three recent Fontbonne players consistently took performance enhancing drugs over their four year careers. Because of this extreme acquisition I would not post this if it did not know it was true; I heard it from a very very reliable source.  I think this is a disgrace to the SLIAC and their recent success.

What a shame.

Real easy to post whatever you want when hiding behind a fake screen name(s), huh?

*SIGH*

Will the trolls never learn?!  Don't mess with Q, Greg, Pat, etc.  They'll burn ya every time! :P

Good work, Q.  +K.

I have copied and am reprinting the emails as they appear at 11:35 PM as  this is simply so bizarre, I certainly want to make sure nothing else disappears.  It's scarey because anybody close to SLIAC basketball knows who kurzlj is, as well as whom frostbite supports,  and everyone has a pretty good idea who played basketball for Fontbonne for three years is.   This is a post far beyond the usual fun and games of D3hoops, and one not made by totally anonymous individuals.   This is really nasty stuff to get started.....  I for one am very distressed by it....

It's good that Q caught it, since I see that now 'FrostBite' has deleted his post.

Trolls, please note: you can delete your own posts, but once someone has quoted and nailed you, you are NAILED.

I hope Mr. Kurz is updating his resume'! ;)

Good sleuthing, Bob.

The posts about the Fontbonne players are a violation of this site's terms of service. Everyone should read them. They're not just there to take up Pat's bandwidth.

Yes, Mr. Kurz should watch what he says but I am not sure he will be fired because of something stated on a D3 board.

What he said wasn't just "something". It was a very serious accusation which should have been made in some other way than publically on this website if he is convinced it is true, believes it should be pursued, and would be able to prove it.
