Disappointing loss for Eureka.  It appears that Webster did a good job of taking them out of their game plan.  Eureka has been scoring 80+ points per game in conf and only scored 56.  Coach Bunch must have had a good strategy coming into the game.  Bell was held well below his average which hurt Eureka.  Also as someone pointed out the lack of production off the bench for Eureka wasnt helpful.

Eureka takes on Spalding saturday at home. Should be an interesting game.  I dont really know much about Spalding, perhaps someone who has seen them play could enlighten me.

Mac is definitely for real this year.  They have played a brutal non conf schedule.  Dont let their record fool you they are a good team.  They played Ill Wesleyan to a single digit game earlier this year.

Top 4 teams seem to be Westmin, Eureka, Webster, and Fontbonne.

My predictions for this weekends games are:

Webster beats Prin by 20+
Fontbonne wins a nail biter over Mac
Eureka beats Spalding
And I'm picking Greenville to upset Westmin.

Notes on the Mac -Fontbonne game....   The refs truly let this one get out of hand....  Very fortunate that one more hard foul didn't occur and all heck break loose.....  The individual from Fontbonne that cursed the official loud enough to be heard all over the gym should have been ejected from the premises, period, on the spot, but no one from Fontbonne had the nerve...   Gee, I wonder who yelled throw him out!!!!  Why have SLIAC sportsmanship banners hanging if they are meaningless....      Take 'em down

The basketball   well    I heard a lot of Fontbonne bashing after the game, but I'm not ready to quit on them.    Here are my points

Why is Fontbonnes offense predicated on making a one on one move from 25 feet...  once again, no one is getting open without the ball....  Branch is a fantastic shooter, but he's never open.....  Forest is forced to create most of his shots... Sheetz goes what, 6 for 7, but sits a lot.   Forest played a heck of a game, never quit.

Fontbonne made Marc Randall look like a first team all conference player.... heres a kid 6'7", probably 185 lbs, making runs at the basket every offensive rebound - ridiculous, pathetic!!! PUT A BODY ON HIM!!!  Maybe that's why Sheetz was sitting.

Point guard is not accomplishing much...  not penetrating and being a threat that could get Branch, Forest, Sheetz more open looks

Fontbonne players, staff, fans..... cry all you want, it ain't the refs......

As for Mac  -  one of my predictions comes thru....how..

Well
Ryan Sichting  -  incredibly smooth at the SLIAC Level...  Forest, Sheetz... look at the tapes, learn from Sichting as far as body position without the ball around the basket... he makes the game look easy...  Sichting was overmatched when I saw him at Wash U, but very good today.

Jerel Robertson  -  one tough nosed kid  -  to the basket every time - the way I like the game played

Brady Slagle  -  I haven't kept tabs on what Frosh are playing this year, but I gotta think he's one of the best along with the Westminster duo.   Plays calm, great size as a guard, just a real mature player for a frosh.

CJ McClelland - who's he - oh, the kid that had 17 points.....  a little bit of everything..

And Mark Randall - probably a career game - simply dominated the boards - against a team he shouldn't have....  he comes in averaging 7 ppg 7 rpg, goes for 15 pts, 17 boards and 4 blocks  geesh

and don't forget Zack Oshee and Luke Bishop - both did a fine job off the bench

This team could challenge for the fourth tourney spot - I laughed at Coach Bunch when he told they were good, I'm a believer now - Fontbonne ought to be too....

The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Well guys, big birthday trip with my wife to Las Vegas this week - unfortunately will miss the first Fontbonne - Webster matchup of the year

The women's matchup is as intriguing as the men's

I'm not going to dive into matchups man to man - the game is too far away

BUT...  if Webster plays aggressively like they did vs Eureka, and Fontbonne doesn't look at themselves and say hey it's time to step up and quit playing soft, this could be a 70-50 game.   This game will be won around the basket, not from 25 feet, and it's going to be rough....

thanks Yjak, TQ....   only wish there was a D3 game in town (Vegas) this week....   The Runnin Rebs are at home but don't think the wife would appreciate it being a part of the schedule......

Eureka plays a pretty solid game saturday beating spalding easily by double figures.  Spalding looked enthused and just showed little motivation.  Now i wouldnt want to drive that far and show up and not compete so I dont know what was up with them but maybe they were just in a funk on Saturday.

Bell and Zasada were just to much for them to handle.  Bell had 30 pts 10 reb and Zasada had 23 pts 9 reb.  The more i get to watch these 2 the more I think that it is hard to stop both of them in one night.

Mac upsets FU and now is really a contender for a top spot.  I am a little disappointed in the Greenville score.  I really thought that game would have been closer.

Eureka goes out of conference Wednesday vs Lincoln Christian, and then plays what I think is the biggest game thus far against Westminster Saturday at Westminster.  Should be a very fun game to watch, too bad I probably wont be attending.

ec_fan14

that was supposed to say unenthused describing Spalding.

Any predictions on  Wednesdays games?

I think greenville will finally come out of its funk and beat spalding.
Westmin will destroy prin on tuesday
Webster Fontbonne is a toss up.  I'm pickin fontbonne in a close one
Mac beats Blackburn separating them from the bottom tier of teams.

Into_the_Blue

Looks like Ive missed quite a bit since I last posted on here.  EC I like to pick the games too although I havent seen a SLIAC team play a game this season so Im really basing it on stats and what you guys who do go post...

Hope, have fun in Vegas!  Will you be doing any NFL playoffs wagering?
How come there is always drama on McKinney Court?  Maybe I can draw FCNews back out with blanket statements like that?  There goes my ploy...   Or maybe you get them riled up Hope and they want to see you come post on here about their shenanigans....

WC over Prin
Spalding over GC
Gorloks over FU
Mac over Black in a barnburner

EC will prob beat LC but not a conf game....did Blackburn beat Bob Morris?

Does PantherPride post here anymore?

Into_the_Blue

We're 4 games late but would anyone be interested in doing a SLIAC pick 'em like CCIW or MWC posters do in another thread?

Might bolster message board participation....

Love_for_the_Game

I really just dont like this board anymore. I really dont know why fcnews would really just stop writing. I am not going to say anything else or even look at anymore postings until fcnews is back. He is the one who created it and he is the one that should be on here. For now, will be gone til I see him back on here. Bye to everyone else. GO FU!!! ;D ;D ;D

I don't know if fcnews actually created this room or was simply the first one to post in it when Pat changed software and the new format came into place.

Probably the latter (I'm credited with creating a couple of rooms I didn't actually create), but I still subscribe to the spirit of the post - fcnews, come back!  You are missed (and ignore the trolls).
