There's no clock for D3. UW-Platteville has a 28-year old forward named Joe Allen. After serving in the army, he was Heartland Conference Freshman of the Year at St. Mary's (TX-D2) in 2004-05 and a 1st team all-conference pick as a soph in 2005-06. Then he transferred to D1 UW-Milwaukee (having to sit out the 2006-07 season) but missed the 2007-08 season with an injury. Now he's at Platteville and I think he's listed as a senior, but if I understand the rule correctly, he'd still have 2 years of eligibility in D3.

Also, Augie had a running back named Kirk Sanders who lettered in 1984, 1985 and 1990!

Looks like the Zimmerman kid has only played three seasons, so he should be OK.

Way to take hopefan through the McDonald's drive thru, Dan!

I know I'm a few days behind on the boards, but Q, reading the NCAA manual is hardly the McDonald's drive thru. It's more like a French restaurant where you can't understand what's even on the menu. :)

That one got a chuckle out of me, Pat. :D

Hell comes to town today. And, I'm not refering to RMC-S. Dad's real chemo treatments start today. I feel safe in saying he will be the only coach in the country, coaching while hooked up to a pump. This will be life for 12 weeks. Which is basically the season.

The FU kids can not buy the type of education they are getting this year. They will have a life lesson to use forever. Cancer will one day effect each of their families. It's Dad's hope that they will be better prepared to cope with it. And, realize that you don't have to stop doing what you love, just because of a doctor tells you that you have the Big "C".

Coach will add another "W" against this opponent.

As for the game: RMC-S will be a good test for Fontbonne's home opener. They lost to Maryville by 12. Are now 4-2. FU will come to play.

Fontbonne, Spalding and Prin boxes are now up in SLIAC.org... gives us more info as to how the first week went....

Fontbonne has to feel decent about how the weekend in Chicago went... their performance vs Wm Penn was good... with a shot to win, and comparable to Spaldings performance.... if Spalding is going to be competitive in the SLIAC race, so will Fontbonne.  The boxes show some good balance in both games, good bench contribution....   new transfer starters Jarred #1 McCoy and Lou Dioum both played well (McCoy will be out tonight too with the sore knee, but hopefully will be able to play Saturday vs North Park), and rebounding improved from Friday to Saturday.  Only Tyler Garner and Eric Jenkins of the ballyhooed frosh group played and contributed, but if it's better for the rest to develop at the JV level, so be it... their time will come.....
Stat of the year so far....
including the exhibition game vs Central Missouri, Frosh Tyler Garner..  8 for 8 from 3 point land!!!

As for Spalding   De Whon McAfee picked up where he left off last year, scoring 47 points in two games... good support form guys that played last year Brasher, Williams, Cutsinger, and new frosh Deshawn Curtis    Spalding, not eligible for the conference tourney yet, will definitely have an impact on who does and doesn't make it..

I apologize for my tardiness on responses (again)... things get crazy right before the holidays!
Greenville's game @STLCOP was cancelled because the ref's didn't show up, so it turned into a scrimmage.  GC had already gone over their limit of scrimmages, so they essentially wasted a game.  GC looked very up and down against Hendrix on Friday night, as Hopefan mentioned.  Giving up 15 for 34 on 3's will probably be addressed in this week's practices [close outs].  They then came back to win on Saturday night against Rhodes and looked a little better, although the 1st half was pretty sloppy again.  Scoring 50 in the 2nd half helped as the offense finally started clicking.
Humidity in the gym caused the floor to warp, unfortunately, so we'll see if they can get part of it fixed by this next week's games.  GC hosts Blackburn on Wed.  then another tournament at home (vs. Mid-Continent, then Lindenwood/William Woods, none of which I know anything about  :-\  ).
Hope, I appreciate the comments about watching a game at Greenville.  I know coach Barber takes pride in putting together a solid basketball environment, and making sure it's not just about the outcome of the game.  Sorry if the pep band had your ears ringing afterward!!  This is our first year with them in the gym so I'm hoping they'll get used to how loud they need to play...  And Hope, were you on the visitor's side behind the scorer's table with your laptop out?  It just seemed like that would've been where you were situated...

hopefan

no  no lap top at Greenville.....  I was behind visitors, top row , towards middle of court, right where wall juts out.....  sat with Rhodes videotapers,.... then with a bunch of Hendrix fans....  I have a schedule mapped out, may be back for Friday night of Gville tourney 12/3, but probably not until Eureka at Greenville on 1/6 and definitely, Webster at Gville 1/22

Very Poor performance By the Griffins tonite. Result 76-68 lost to RMC-S. Shot poorly from the 3's and to many attempts. Free throw shooting still struggles. McCoy was missed. RMC-S had one player who FU just could not stop. FU still playing 10-12 players and searching for the right blend. Woods played a good 10 minutes. I still say it will be christmas before he's fully back. Good kids. Good chemistry. It's a search for Good combinations. Nice to see Riva healthy.

Another challenge on Saturday. The seaon is young.

It's the holiday season, Denny and I have a record long streak of getting along together, and right now my only concern with the Fontbonne Basketball Program is the health of Coach McKinney... so my comment on the team's performance last night will simply be that I hope to see improvement on Saturday vs North Park.....

Thanks Hopefan. All we can do is improve. It was a preseason 7th place performance.
.... Dad slept well. The McKinney family has tons to be thankful for this year.

This is as it should be. The outcomes of this season's games take on an entirely different meaning when viewed in the context of Coach McKinney's personal battle.

Denny McKinney

Thanks Yjak. As you could tell last nite, he still expects to win them all. And I know he's going to win the big battle. It's only 12 weeks of treatment.... He said, "that's just a basketball season." Basketball may be the cure for Cancer. I know it is in one coaches heart.

Happy Holiday All.

hopefan

Good luck to Yjak who's traveling to Crawfordsville and the Wabash Tourney to see his Alma Matre Randolph Macon play.  Rumor has it that Yjak would have been a mean 2 guard in his day for RMC, but chose to concentrate on his studies instead!!!!!  Have a great weekend!!!!

Level headed, cool and calm. Yjak would play PG for me. Good travel my friend.

Today North Park. PG Jarred McCoy would go if this was a conference game. He will be ready to go Wednesday nite vs. Westminister. Like Hopefan said, need to see improvement.

Nothing could be farther from the truth -- both in relation to the basketball skill level and the concentration on studies.

See my comments on the ODAC board (South Region) re #2 R-MC's 15 point loss to Wabash today.

I don't want to seem rude or demanding, but there's no box score and/or game story on the Fontbonne site for the NPU @ Fontbonne game played this afternoon. The SLIAC site has the final score (NPU 65, Fontbonne 51), but nothing else. Is any statistical info about the game forthcoming?

Thomas, Dioum, Sheetz 10 pts

Comment - I'm not to sure it was NPU's def that lead to FU's 25 to's. More like horrible passing by FU. Cahill had a very nice hometown group. FU went the first 12 mins. of 2nd half with 4 pts. Hopefan could of got more shots to fall. Shame he had bad knees. He had potential, but injuries cut him short.  ;)
