Hopefan - Your estimation should be based on your own opinion (which your never short of  ;D). You've seen us play 3 times now.
After seeing them 3 times, my thought is just what I said... to this point their output has been disappointing

Only player I "gleened" about was Woods.
no no no Denny  I gleened, you didn't....... you provided the glowing words that I gleened from... and you certainly were glowing about the potential of all 3.....not just Woods....  I'm just hoping, like you, that they can get better, and be able to compete favorably against the Gays and Toths and Huskies.... and whatever austin Peay offers up....  noticed the Peay lost a close one last night... they're gonna be primed to play well against the little guys!!!!

WUH  is there any prelim game?   Perhaps a JV game?

I have not seen a JV schedule this season, but a JV game would make sense, given the 8:00 pm start, which is an hour later than normal.  Does Fontbonne play JV games?

hoop_crazy

Fontbonne does play JV games however they are not scheduled to play tonight.

To make sure there is no confusion. The game time is 8pm.

Fontbonne then hits the road on friday after the last final. A good nites sleep at the Hampton Inn of Clarksville. Team breakfast and an afternoon shoot around. Then back to the hotel to rest before a big saturday nite game. 6:30pm (CT).

Austin Peay has an incredible live feed. The same cameras used on their two Jumbotrons.

Austin Peay travels to Memphis for their next game.

Thanks to the Wash U athletic dept for arranging for Dad to enter the lower back door. It's going to be a tough enough nite. After, setting for a four hour infusion today and then coaching with that Damn pump on.

Today would of marked three months of recovery, if they hadn't air balled the diagnosis. He's still battling complications from completing the complete chemo and radiation protocol for the wrong disease. But hey he's happy to have his hair back. ::)

It will be a fun nite. What ever the outcome is.

One of the d3hoops.com guys should write a front-page story about Coach McKinney. If his brave battle to stay on the sidelines and coach both practices and games while undergoing chemo treatment for cancer isn't a top-notch human interest story worthy of the front page, I don't know what is.

Thanks greg. I'll add that the Head Coach from NPU is a first class individual. My Dad's condition suprised him in pre game warm ups. Afterwards, with the team bus full for travel, he spoke to me for 20 minutes to find out the scoop on Dad.

I don't know what NPU fan think of him as a coach. But, as an individual he is First Class in my book.

Hopefan - I have a ton at + 40.

Are you coming to the annual "Look, Fontbonne does have students" exhibition?

WUH - Fontbonne had twice as many students as Wash U. Is the studebt body already on christmas break. Never saw such a small crowd for a Bears home game.

The students actually have one more week of classes before final exams start, but campus life creeps to a halt this time of year.  This must have been the smallest crowd I have ever seen, not including the one or two Winter break games played each year.

Agreed -- it's on my radar, definitely.

Surprised that Denny nor hopefan didn't even mention the outcome of the game.

No write-up?  Who won?

Come-on Hope!!! We readers rely on you for the updates!!! :)

I can offer a summation of the game, since I broadcast it on the "Internets".

Washington won 82-65, but not without a bit of a fight from a game Griffin bunch.

Wash-U jumped out to a couple of 10-point leads at 12-2 and 17-7, but Fontbonne used 3-point shooting to go on a 15-5 run to tie the game at 22-22 with 7:14 left in the first half.  Freddie Fleming and Jarrett Buford made 4 of the 5 treys for the Griffins in the first half to pull even with Wash-U...but the Bears answered with a 12-0 run of their own to go up 34-22, and the halftime edge for the Bears was 36-27.

I was following a couple of trends for Fontbonne, to see which would be most pivotal.  One, when the Griffins committed 15 or more turnovers in a game, they lost 4 contests this season.  Two, when they made 8 or more treys, they secured their two victories.  Fontbonne made 5 treys in the first half last night, but also had 12 first-half turnovers.  That gave Wash-U an 11-2 edge in points off of turnovers.  Spencer Gay was unstoppable, scoring 17 of his 22 points in the first half for the Bears.  Tim Cooney added 9.

To start the 2nd half, Fontbonne zipped out to a 10-2 run that cut the Washington lead to 38-37 in the first 2 minutes.  But, Gay had a 3-point play with 17:14 left to give Wash-U a 41-37 lead...and from there, the Bears went on a 15-2 run to forge a 56-39 lead; fueled by Dylan Richter's 3-point explosion (5 treys and 17 points in the 2nd half).  The lead grew to as many as 22 before the final 82-65 outcome.

Richter had 23 points total, Gay 22, and Cooney 14 for Wash-U; and Ben Hoener had 10 assists to go along with his 4 points.  Fleming had 13 points off the bench to lead Fontbonne, followed by Buford's 11 and Raymond Woods had 10 points.  The Griffins' leading scorer, Saliou Dioum, had only 7 points, 5.5 points under his average.

Fontbonne can shoot 3s pretty well (8 total), but it was outscored in the paint 20-8 in the first half, and the 19 turnovers were the eventual undoing for the Griffins.  For Wash-U, the obvious eyebrow-raiser was Richter's career-high 23 points.  He shouldn't be expected to reach that total every game now, but if he can contribute double-figure scoring on a consistent basis, the Bears' prospects in conference play improve considerably.  Two tough tests await them...at Wheaton Saturday, and hosting Illinois Wesleyan on the 18th before the holiday break.
