Also, not going to go in detail... I certainly expect Spalding to beat an undermanned Eureka group... Eureak will get a win, or 2, or 3 this year, but not at Spalding.

Hopefan it's better to make your comments on here, then standing in line for popcorn. "He's horrible" and that's his Dad standing in line in front of you. That was some good motivation, too.  ;D ;D

Hahahaha! Been there, done that, Hopefan ... or at least something similar, although I've never been caught in the act of saying something as brutally blunt as "He's horrible" within inadvertent earshot of the kid's parent. Usually my analysis is so wordy that I don't get caught saying something that unsubtle. One of the few blessings of being verbose, I guess. ;)

Coach McFessell when is your SLIAC induction going to be?

Denny McKinney

Fonbonne JV 75  GC JV 60

Buford 17 pts, Bell 15, Hurst 15 and Lisch 15.

Fontbonne played 6...... Lisch did well from the 3 spot.

Prin beats BC   85-75    See, I told you my writings were motivational... to Prin ;D ;D ;D

Zimmerman goes for 25, 10 for 10 from the line, 6 assists, only 1 turnover... even more important, Beal gets 21, angle 20... Prin evidently plays much better at this level than vs Webster, and no one from Bc seems to take control in the boxscore to match Prin's threesome.....  Prin shoots 53% for game, BC 31%........Nice win Prin!!!!!

Very busy day at work so I'm not going to let myself go into Webster vs Wash U writeup....

Webster certainly has a chance in this one.....

Wonder why no one scheduled the JV game which is on the 24th, as a prelim to give those kids some exposure

Comments on the Webster - Wash U game

What the heck happened to Wash U????  They started out absolutely dominating the game... With Alex Kuhl apparently lost to Webster for the 2nd semester, Webster had nobody to match up with Toth, of Wash U, and between him and Spencer Gay, they just manhanlded Webster for 10 minutes around the basket... layups and putbacks, Webster's man to man could not get through Wash U picks and Wash U was getting easy hoops ....

BUT THEN...  Webster went to a zone, and Wash U fell totally flat...  little penetration with the ball, lots of perimeter shots and nothing went in... from 18-6 at about 10 minutes, half time finished at 21-21.... Trimble and Jones had contributed little for the gorlocks, and only Drew Moore's back to back 3's kept Webster close...   But Wash U did nothing either
2nd half started smartly for Wash U.. guards penetrated more, Gay and toth and richter got rebounds and putbacks (Wash U got 4 offensive boards and 5 shots on one possession), and it looked like Wash U may pull away a second time....   but then it turned into the Willie trimble show... 3 point shots raining from the rafters, Webster up 7 with 3 and a half left.. but then they go cold, Wash U cuts it to 3 with 2 big hoops from Ben Hoener,   and Caleb knepper misses a 3 at 25 seconds that would have tied it...   Restoff makes the front end for up 4, but Cooney races down the court for a layup to cut the lead to 2 with 8 seconds.. Robbie Meeh make the front end for up 3, and Wash U can't get off a good attempt to tie at the buzzer......

the box shows Wash U had a horrible game, and I really wonder now if they can be any more than a 500 team in the UAA  one for 16 from 3's, 38% from field with a number of missed layups in the first half.....  Gay and Toth disappeared for most of the game against the zone... only Richter penetrated and created... nothing went in for anyone on the perimeter, and an unusual amount of critical turnovers for the Bears.

Webster misses Kuhl... Huskie played many more minutes than usual, and just isn't strong enough yet to go those kind of minutes, especially against a physical team like Wash U.... the return of Drew Moore certainly helped though.... and robbie Meeh is such a scrapper.... for SLIAC competition, Webster should still be ok on the boards..

for one reason or another, Coach Bunch cut his rotation quite a bit to only 7 players.... limited minutes for Hollis Edwards, no minutes for Stefon Whittingham... my assumption is he just didn't feel they would quite flow againt Wash U... though I thought Edwards did fine in his first half appearance...  I'm sure the rotation will go back to include them against SLIAC..  next two games will go a long way is showing whether Webster can compete for first place in conference... at Spalding on Saturday,   Westminster at home on Wednesday....

Boy, sure would be fun to take a trip to Louisville on Saturday, eh Yjak???? ;D ;D ;D

...3 point shots raining from the rafters, Webster up 7 with 3 and a half left...

I think one three in particular from Trimble almost hit the rafters.  It looked like an Estes rocket trajectory of sorts.  Wow!

hopefan

WUH, given that it wasn't a half court shot, and that it was pretty much a regular shot altered as a defensive player lunged at him, that shot was about as incredible as it gets... it probably had double the trajectory of a normal 3 point attempt... I don't think I've ever seen something like that off a normal shot....

Anxious to hear about the Fontbonne game.. no boxscore anywhere yet...  but with font leading when the score was in the 30's, and down only 3 with a minute left, something finlly had to have gone right for the Griffs... anxious to see who triggered the positive changes......

Looks like Westmin handled Greenville relatively easily... kind of disappointed that Greenville hasn't kept road games vs Spalding and Westmin a little closer.. looks like Greenville may have been hampered with foul trouble as starters McBride and Agomo played far fewer moments than usual..... Westmin beat them pretty badly on the boards too... big night for Justin Gilmore with 18 points and 10 boards, and Jake Vislay comes out of his little slump with 4 three pointers and 24 points.... though I'm not sure why Westmin offense has him shooting 9 3 point attempts.. he seems so effective slashing to the basket......  only Rutget Neece, off the bench, had decent numbers for gville with 15 points... Gville shoots 32% from field....

Spalding handles Eureka as expected -  Spalding had 11 guys get double digit minutes and another with 9...   classy move that likely kept the scoring margin down to only 15 points....

Incidently... the 'hopefan standings system mentioned a couple days ago did not change last night... Mac held home vs Fontbonne, Gville didn't beat Westmin.. so Mac is +1 with their win over Webster, Fontbonne and Mac are at 0.....   Game on Saturday is huge as Fontbonne will be expected to beat gville at home.....

To disgusted to go into details. FU starts Woods, Thomas, Dioum, Fleming and Hamilton. FU races out to a nice early lead. Then it started. FU has had the same shaved head official for 5 games this year. 0-5. I don't thinFU has one a game with this guy in 2 years. Off my chest. Woods scored on his first 2 touches. Then he and Fleming had 2 fouls each before the 14 minute mark. FU lost size and it best defender.

FU was up by I think 5 at half. Five minutes into the second half. Woods grabs a lose ball chins it like we're all tought and made a two handed over the head outlet pass. Whistle. Flagrant foul on Ray. I understand the purpose of the new rule. But, if your a foot taller and no one within 3 feet. REALLY. Fouls 3 and 4 and back to the bench. Didn't return to the 4:00 minute mark, 5th fouls thanks for coming.

CJ McClellan and Burton had great nites. With FU's two best defenders on the bench. These two got theirs. The score went back and fouth down the stretch. MC hit free throws and that was the ballgame.

Denny McKinney

Until boxscore arrives
Woods 13, Thomas 12, Fleming 10 and Dioum 16. Garner had tough shooting nite.
FU starting lineup fouls 5,4,4,3,4. Tournovers down to 12. 43% and 43% 24-31 FT.

MC:
McClellan awsome 26 pts in 38 minutes, Burton 19 (good player) in 35 minutes, Robertson 15 and only 1 foul  :o in 34 minutes. MC had 2 guys with 3 fouls. 41% and 25% 18-28 FT.

And I got a warning from the same Ref. Five feet behind the bench standing behind a water cooler. Smacked the cooler on the Woods play.
