Tomorrow

Prin won't be competitive with Westmin

Mac at Eureka may be closer than some think.... Mac hasn't won at someone else's court this season.. but Eureka hasn't won at all.... they could be pumped to get win no 1....
by the way, what happened to the shooter, Shrek?    Anyway, Mac wins, but be careful here....

Greenville at Fontbonne....  both teams have accomplished less than expected.... perhaps Fontbonne has found the right combination on the court given their very competitive game at Mac... but can that 5 or 6 stay on the court ?   Greenville will be badly outsized, but their quickness to the basket could again lead to Fontbonne foul trouble....  I just don't have the confidence in Fontbonne until they show me a win against a decent team... Greenville close....

Can Webster take the long trip to Spalding... if Trimble ankle is ok, he should be able to hold down McAfee... if not, pressure is on Edwards... I'd love to see this game...I think Webster wins and sets up the big game Wednesday with Westmin....

I'll be the first to admit that I totally missunderstood the conversation regarding what kind of guarantee CMSU was giving FU. Blew it. Way off.

But, that comment did not attack or hurt anyone personally or professionally. Your purpose on here has been to head hunt one individual and one program. That's it.

untrue.

i said coach mckinney was a good recruiter and i admired his longevity. i said his weaknesses were he was not a good game coach at that fontbonne has always lacked discipline. those are my opinions and why boards like this exsist.

i have said many positive things on here about both the coach and the program. you choose to ignore those and hammer away at anything that does not hint at saint hood for coach mckinney. i will say it again, i admire coach mckinneys's fight. it just isn't working. if the players are as inspired as you say, why don't they show it on the court. this team has played way under its potential.

you have posted so many falsehoods on here over the years it is laughable. I am done with this board.

   Webster  66  Spalding  52  Final

   Greenville  74  Fontbonne  68  Final

   MacMurray  58  Eureka  48  Final

Principia  65  Westminster (Mo.)  82  Final

Great win for Webster.  They're playing really well right now.

Greenville got a nice win at Fontbonne.

Mac got it done as expected at Eureka and Westminster held serve as well.

Looks like it's a five team race with one of those  five ineligible for postseason play (correct me if I'm wrong.   The league seems really top heavy right now.  The WC WU game should be a doozy.

random thoughts on yesterdays Fontbonne - Greenville game

Certainly the best I've seen Fontbonne look this year, but a total meltdown in the last minute, coupled with some other lost opportunities in the last 5 minutes cost them the game.

The game around the basket was just incredible for SLIAC... Hilliard and Agomo vs Thomas and Dioum... every rebound was a battle, every shot was altered or blocked.  The difference was, Greenville persisted, never falling back to the perimeter game.. while Fontbonne  continued to fire away, and when they went dismally cold (at least 3 critical airballs), they lost....   Woods never got started, picking up two quick fouls, and appeared to be way too slow to be effective vs this pace..

Just looked at the stats for the first time... Greenville had an unimaginable  61 rebounds, 28 offensive...  Greenville actually platoons a 2nd unit, but there was no let up from them as they contributed 19 of the boards, 5 from 5'7" Alex Mumphard.. speaking of the platoon system, I thought it might hurt Greenville, but that group did a solid job in such a competitive fast paced game... Was amused at Markieth Brown, who looked like he was going to do something every time he touched the ball... fired up 12 shots in 14 minutes, but contributed 12 critical points... and waterbug Mumphard  heck 5'7" is probably in high heels, did a very nice job of penetrating under control... Neece and Garrison both looked like players...

I'm just snowed by Agomo and Hilliard.... unbelievable energy.... Dioum is similar, but just doesn't seem quite as strong to the hoop...  Dioum had his best game of the year with 21 points and 12 boards ( a bunch of critical free throws), but 5 turnovers... all in all, Fontbonne had another poor shooting night, though it wasn't so noticeable with all the 2nd and 3rd efforts...  Lack of patience and getting good shots, one horrendous pass at a critical point, and it was a tough loss.....

Yikes, forgot to mention Andy Traeger...  5 for 8 from 3 point range, include the one that broke Fontbonne's back giving Gville a 4 point lead at one minute left.... I guess it IS his game, and he really is the only serious 3 point threat Greenville has....  That may have been his career game....   Rasod Seaton, 0 for 5, but his penetration to the basket really keys the offense and only 1 turnover.....

Thanks to Denny for the quick tour of several of the campus buildings... had never been in them before.. the chapel in particular was very impressive...   also nice chat with Coach Barber... love talking hoops with coaches.....

Don't know if anyone noticed, but D3hoops at first had a Webster loss posted vs Spalding...  my impression was wow, not the Spalding win is surprising, but by 12 holding Webster to under 60?  They must be VERY good..... much later, after I got home, I find that Webster ladies result was listed as men's score... Webster men win 66-52, they totally shut down Dewhon Mcaffee... Drew Moore beginning to hit his stride with 15 points including 8 for 9 from line....   with that kind of contribution from Drew, Webster will challenge Westmin.....  Webster forces Spalding to turn the ball over 20 times....

Westmin clobbers Prin, Mac beats Eureka by 10 in a couple of yawners....

And BC gets a win beating Concordia Indiana (WHO?) by 44   That's flat out silly... why not schedule the Carlinville youth center next year....  embarrassing.....

Finally, I notice All American Red's Posts have been deleted.....  I am very curious about this... as to whether it was the overall tone of his delivery, or if one post broke the camel's back......  I've stayed away from the dialog to attempt to keep the focus on basketball.....

Well put Hopefan. It was gut wrentching to watch a 10 point lead just slip away Haven't saw stats and refuse to look. Glad you enjoyed your mini tour. The Sisters of St. Joe, built what I think is a hidden jewell.

And by the way... hopefan standings

Mac +1   win over Webster
Greenville  +1  win on road at Fontbonne
Fontbonne -1  loss at home to Greenville

as we said the Fontbonne - Greenville game was huge
In reality, Fontbonne's only way to recover a 2 point swing in one game is to win at Greenville....  otherwise, the two losses to Greenville will likely be huge if a tiebreaker situation comes up.....

Well back to the drawing board. Two good efforts. Just not the right outcomes. FU is big and athletic, yes. Talent wise. The ball has to go in that hoop. And pass to the guy with same colored shirt. ;D

I like the pieces. They need to feel a win. Woods v Obie Farmer, better match up. Ray took himself out of GC. Fouls! GC's quickness in doubling down from the weakside in their zone, gave FU fits on entry passes. That forced us to the perimeter. A team that shot 75 3pt drill during 3 practices. Make five in a row to leave. Shot well at Mac and shot well in the 1st half. Fleming and Garner hit their first two. Second half 0-14 till the cuzzer beater.

Had GC down by 10 with something like 6:30 to go. Two stops and games over.

It wasn't because of effort or execution. Close the game. Time for seniors to say "Not to Nite"

Coach Mitchell at Westminster had a tough start as a head coach with 7 straight losing records..  but now has a streak of 5 winning seasons with this year being a 6th

Coach Barber at Greenville has 5 non losing years in a row and likely a 6th this year

Coach McKinney at Fontbonne has 16 non losing seasons in his 20 SLIAC years

Todd Creal at Mac has gone from 1 win to 5 wins to 11 wins in 3 seasons, and should get 9 or 10 this year.

Chip Wilde at Eureka started 27 and 21 in his first 3 seasons, but is getting beat up this year with huge personnel losses...

Biggest single season turnarounds..
Coach Mckinney at Fontbonne went from 4-10 in 2005 06  to 12-6 in 2006-07

Farmer didn't see much action against Webster. You'll have to stop Madison Medley in the post. Should be interesting.
