Forgot that spalding played at Prin last night... Spalding wins as expected 82-66  McAfee goes for 28
BUT, article on Prin page shows us it was a very close game and Prin was only down 4 with 4 minutes left!!

Big Game at Grant gymnasium this evening big implications on the standings. A win for Webster puts them in control but a loss means they are now two games back heading into the second half of the conference season. I feel this is going to be a great game between the two premier teams in the league. Wish I could make it down for this one. My prediction WU by 7. However if Jones or Trimble come out hot from 3 I see that 7 becoming closer 15.
All that being said should be a great one!

EC.. agree with your prediction,  margin might be a little wide... but a win by Webster would hardly put them in control... a win by Westminster would put Westmin in control for sure, but a Webster win gives both teams one loss, with the rematch coming up AT Westmin....  much tougher game to call at this stage....

Yeah I had not thought about it i guess it would mean one loss a piece. For some reason was thinking WC had a loss my mistake.

Nice looking box score for Fontbonne in its win over Blackburn last night. Nine players with double digit minutes, five score in double figures and the other four score also. Thomas, Scheetz and Hamilton with 11, 9, and 8 boards respectively.

MAC at GC a much closer contest than I imagined.  Kinda lower scoring than I expected out of the boys at home as well.  On the plus side however looks like GC scoring was very balanced.

Thanks Yjak for the post. Big Ray Woods was just to much last nite. Should of been a 25 pt game. Up 14 at half (11-12 ft).... 2nd half win by 10 (6-24 ft). Thomas , Buford and Hamilton 0-12. And we shoot a ton of free throws.  ???

BC started Stochl on Woods (protecting Medley I assume) that didn't work. Ray had first 2 go in and out, from then on forget it. Fouls cost him maybe 6 mins time. You only want to get 28 out of him. They ended up using Medley and doubling. 9-14 22 pts and 8 rebounds in just over 20 minutes.

A 48 hour BUG is going around FU. Fleming was not even in the building. A few others were not 100%. Besides playing a good PG, 4 of Hamiltons 5 off boards were tip ins. With focus going to Woods, Thomas took care of boards.

Mid way thru first half Dad sat some players down and got somemore enthusiasm on the floor. Jenkins' 2 JV games real helped. Eric had a great nite. 2nd half starters were Woods, Hamilton, Jenkins, Lisch and Buford. Sheetz had his best all around game scoring and 9 boards.

Lott is a very good player. Jury still out on Medely. Huge Game Saturday.

You consider 89-88 a low scoring game????

Lots to write about... unfortunately I left my notes on the Webster - Westmin game at home, so can't run down the final 3 or 4 minutes until later...   and it was good enough that I will do that, so tune in later tonight...

Just some thoughts...

Westmin self destructed in the 2nd half - particularly in the last couple of minutes... unusual for Westmin... turnovers and quick shots and offensive fouls killed them...

I mentioned the benches.. well only one guy who came off the bench played a major role, and he was the clearcut game MVP  Robbie Meeh.... how does a slow 6'2" guy who can't jump do what he did... smarts, work ethic, desire, and another dose of smarts... he kept Webster in it, and eventually brought them to a position to win it....

key play of the game eerily like a play at the Westmin - Mac game that went in Westmin's favor then... this time it went against Westmin...  under 2 minutes, Webster has a 3 or 4 point lead, Westmin's Vislay shhoots a short jumper no good, and Adam Malette crashes the boards for a wild tip that goes in... BUT NO...waved off for foul over top on Mallette, Tolson says the magic word and gets T'd up. Webster makes 3 of 4, and instead of up 1, Webster is up 6, and it's basically over.....

A lot of people did not play well on both teams, but virtually everyone came through for Webster in the last 5 minutes...Meeh rebounding and scoring, Willie Trimble with an unbelievable penetration and letf hand bank shot from way behind his head, Huskey with a clutch layup and freethrows, moore with a hoop and free throws... a great win, even with Nick Jones having a horrible shooting night...

Webster did it with really only 6 players.... Hollis Edwards didn't play too much, and cody Bradfish hardly saw the court....  Not a good sign... there will be nights when these guys will have to contribute....

Westminster... wow... disappointing night....  Skylar tolson carried the team in the first half, but went cold in the 2nd....  Justin Gilmore kept getting loose under the basket for layups in the 1st half against Webster's zone (which they played almost the whole night), but in the 2nd half was shooting jump shots and 3's and making nothing....  Vislay... his shooting really hurt the Jays.. he was almost as cold as Webster's Jones....  the bench, the other starters, virtually no contribution...

Will say it looks like Westmin picked up a mid year addition.. Joe Profitt, who looked good and whom Coach Mitchell though enough of to have in the game down the stretch... he had a nice 3 pointer and a couple of nice passes playing the wing... he will contribute if coach assimilates him into the system....

I'll give more detail on the last 5 minutes tonite... it will read well...

no changes in hopefan standings... Greenville at home was supposed to beat Mac and did, Fontbonne was supposed to beat BC and did

Mac +1 for beating Webster
Greenville +1 for winning at Fontbonne
Fontbonne -1 for losing at home to Greenville

Lott had a good game against Webster, too. Medley did score 15 last night which is quite respectable given that he was playing against bigger, stronger post players than he was against Webster.

I'll bet the Greenville - Mac game was a classic... Greenville up by 8 at half, Mac comes back to lose by 1

Greenville guards must have done a job on McClellan, who goes only 4 for 14 with 6 turnovers..  on the other hand, Greenville's McBride and Seaton go 9 for 9 from the field!!!!   Who would have thought, though read my pregame comment on McBride!!!!!   Markieth Brown has another good game off the bench with 16... Agomo and Hilliard have their usual double digit games......Mac led by two guys who have made favorable impressions on me in the past, but not really done much... Zac Ozee finally gets a start and goes 8 for 10 from the field, 22 points... against Hilliard and Agomo, very impressive... and Colton Pettyjohn comes of the bench and goes 8-9 20 points.... Greenville doesn't have much size to guard a legitimate low post man.   Greenville beats them on the boards, and wins it from the foul line (25-37 vs 16-22 for Mac)

Incidently, anyone who wasn't at the Webster - Westmin game may critique the huge foul shot discrepancy, 4 attempts for westmin, 27 for Webster... but that was very much how the game was played.. Westminster's attack against the zone was primarily around it or over it.. very little effort to penetrate, and after Gilmore got several layups early, it simply didn't get inside anymore....   Webster, with Willie penetrating, and Huskey, Moore, and Meeh receiving the ball inside often, were seeing the foul line much more...

Webster will have to play a great game on Saturday to get a W at Greenville.
