Webster game played out exactly as I expected.. Greenville had no answer for the zone... Webster dominates the whole game......  Good to see Nick Jones find the range again... he leads Webster in scoring... Trimble doesn't have big numbers in this one, but he just puts on a show...

could not believe when a Webster frosh who doesn't play much refused to enter the game with a minute left when called on by Coach Bunch... bad move, REAL STUPID MOVE.... kid, your time will come, or maybe not.....

Spalding Fontbonne score, surprising, Disappointing, Incredible.....
BC gets a win over Eureka....  no result on Prin at Mac
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

hopefan, i thought greenville "scrapped" with Webster most of the first half. i did not see the freshman refuse to go in the game. where were you sitting? the zone was too "long" for greenville. The score though, i would think would have been more to greenville's liking.

what was the results in Spalding? I could not find it on the fc site and i couldn't figure out how to navigate the spalding site. all i could get was their home page. Help, please!

You were at game????   sorry you didn't find me... center court top row, behind players, right next to Greenville camera...  Wearing Hope sweatshirt!!!!

Score is on this site on scoreboard...Spalding 87 - Fontbonne 50

Ouch! The winner doesn't surpirse me but the spread is still a shocker. i still wouldn't throw the final shovel of dirt on FC just yet. I still think they have the best talent in the conference, they just need to get somethings figured out.

i didn't even know this site had a scoreboard section. Thanks!

Mac beats Prin 101-87 as expected... box is on Mac page, though D3hoops nor SLIAC.org has been supplied the score....???  Zimmerman has 27 for Prin, McClellan 21 for Mac

hopefan standings remain the same

Mac +1
Greenvlle +1
Fontbonne  -1

I've always thought of Greenville as a team that likes faster paced, higher scoring games.

I have never been a fan of zones (perhaps because they frustrated me when I coached), but Webster's zone has now totally taken Westminster and Greenville out of their game....  why?.. the zone is very effective.. great quicks from Willie Trimble up top, good size and athleticism from Jones, Restoff, and Moore, and good shot blocking when the ball does come in from Huskey...  Westmin went around or over top to try to beat it and couln't make anything, Greenville primarily went inside and continually ate the ball or turned it over.... I'd rate Westmin the best outside shooting team in the conference, but Vislay Tolson, James, Hoenstein will have to shoot better in the rematch.....   Westmin did find success on the baseline early, but Webster may have made adjustments to take it away....

Huskey... all summer.... weight training and agility workouts are a must.... PLEASE

fontbonne throws up a doughnut from 3 point land vs Spalding, 23 turnovers, ... looks like Woods and Hamilton have decent offensive games though Woods has 4 turnovers, but Dioum and Garner shoot 5 for 22 off the bench....  woods goes 5 for 6, he needs to see the ball more often than 6 shots....

Big Red expressed optimism that Fontbonne still has best talent in conference??? Really?

good basketball teams enforce their will upon others. that is one thing a zone can do. it can control pace of games. all zones have weaknesses. good coaches know how to teach adjustments. if the ball starts getting to the short corner on the baseline or the high post, zones need to adjust.

i thought in the greenville game yesterday that the slower pace favored the panthers. Less possesions. Althoght strictly from the talents of the two teams, yes, Greenville is better suited to a running game. So my claim there, I agree, is a little suspect.

Hey, I am on a karma building crusade now, so don't goad me on FC. But look at their roster, and assuming Dennis wasn't playing to loose with the stats, no team has the players with High School remsumes that FC has. If Coach McKinney's is inspiring this group as Dennis claims, then why are they tanking on him? A 37 point loss to Spalding? Lisch it appeared helped the team against Blackburn and he gets the least amount of minutes of anyone at Spalding? Could he have shot it worse than Garner of Dioum?

I still say Dioum, if anyone checked much, would be found to be ineligable. Been in North America  since 03, with the exception a year playing pro in Europe. Played three years at JUCOs and two years in Canada. But Dennis claims that was his older brother with the same name. Have no idea what he wasw dooing last year, but Dennis claims they found him in Baltimore. But who is going to bother to check on a D III player shooting 30% from the field?

Dang Red, you're sure to get docked again... Dioum is up to 31.5%   ;D ;D ;D

Dang! Even when I am trying to be nice, I get docked!!!

I am telling you I am going to get my Karm above the freezing line, one way or another.

How about this for starters:
1. There are only 27 D III Conferences rated higher in the Massey ratings that the SLIAC.
2. Wash U is nothing but a SLIAC wannabee
3. How could any red blooded American male not want to spend a cold Jaunuary Wednesday night cheering for the Battling Beavers?
4. Rumor has it that Walgreens will soon open a branch store on Principia's campus.
5. Lee McKinney invented basketball

Ok, get those karma points coming this old man's way!

Red, Ill take the bait and give you +1 for the effort. I like #4.

Denny McKinney

First attempt from phone.

Tough trip. Tried going down a nite early. Hour in mid IL switching buses. 7.5 hours. Friday nite the boiler went out at Spalding. Womens game played at about 50*. not much warmer for mens game. Building has raidAnt heat. You could tell by where fans huddled. Coach in a winter coat and hood. Fans wore gloves.

Game would not be played if under different teams. Is: WU or WC

Out come on game. Zero.

News: woods bad step early on players foot rolled good ankle. Iced taped up tight at half. Got what he had. Outcome on game: prob Zero.

Whole team has gone Ice cold. Uncontested. Unbelievable.

Dioms concerns could be answered in a call. Sliac offices. Keep us informed on info.

A whole week to make changes. Senioritous? Play some freshmen? Fu needs PG. I wish it was the fans favorite. No way. Hamilton needs to be back to true spot.

Chemo week. Be back Saturday.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU AND THANK YOU!!

I got one more: The word on the street is that the King of Spin, our own FC News, and local radio bad boy Kevin Slaten will team up for a new drive time sports talk show on KMOX called Alice in Wonderland Sports Talk. Their motto will be: You didn't just see the game you thought you saw, you saw the game we are telling you you saw.

How did Spalding manage to keep their side of the gym warm cause it looks like they shot lights out? Never trust anyone from Kentucky.

I knew a high school coach once who had a stage under the basket on one end of the gym. The first half, when the other team was shooting at that goal, he would put the prettiest girls in school in a single row of folding chairs on the stage, in mini skirts. The second half, he would close the curtains. What a home court advantage!!!
