A win is a win, up on the bluffs. Never have seen a single person when driving through Elsa.

Agree. Any win at Prin is a plus, I don't care how good you are or how bad they are. The biggest plus for FC on the front 9 was the win at Prin. Main reason I think they still have a shot at 5th place and the trn., but need an upset or two somewhere along the line.

Ft totals hard to believe Hopefan. Must be a reflection of Prin lack of aggresion on the off end. Settling for the outside shot and one on one by the stud. Couldn't be the  absolute horrific offeciating on the Men's side of the SLIAC that we have all come to expect.

Question for everyone: is the officiating on the women's side just better in the SLIAC? It seems to me that it is. Or is the women's game just easier to call? Or, am I not quite as invested in the women's game and don't get as upset? Mens: worst this side of hell. A joke year after year. Is somebody getting paid to hire and supervise these guys?

Negative 6!!!! what is going on here!  I am losing karma while I sleep!! Demand a recount.  :'( :'(

Anyone know what the record is for worst karma on this board. I need something to shoot for ;)

I am learing how to use the little smilley faces. That should be good for a point or two.  :D ;D 8-) ::) :P

I've been following SLIAC basketball since 2003-2004....

Prin in conference in that time is 18-99 for a .154 winning percentage

Take out their one decent year, 2004-05 when they were 7-7, and Prin is 11-92 for
.107 winning %

a loss to Prin, whether on the Bluff or at home, is a HORRIBLE loss.....  I'm just glad Webster didn't sour their season by letting the upset happen last night.

Yjak's description is interesting, and makes sense... Prin could use the clock with a lead, Webster couldn't sit back in the zone anymore and had to go man... poor Prin just doesn't have an inside game to attack the basket with and couldn't draw fouls.....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Great game at Westmin.. will writeup this afternoon.. lots of 'random thoughts'

Very nice to meet Mr Henderson, Wesstmin frosh Charlie Henderson's Dad at half time... He works with TQ in Columbia... we had a great conversation about his initial impressions of SLIAC basketball and a little bit regarding Charlie's decision to attend Westminster.... I think he'll become a fan of this site!!!!

WC's loss puts WU in the drivers seat to host. I was just thinking, yesterday, if WU's tournament chances would be better if they were on the road. Bunchtime and I have discussed the problems Webster has had in SLIAC Tourney play. I thought playing away would take that pressure off. So much for that. WU will just have to do it at Home. No offense "Into the Blue".

Better for the St. Louis fans.

Here is a logical hypothetical situation....regarding the final standings

Let's assume Webster beats Mac at Webster, but loses at Westmin

Therefore both Webster and Westmin would finish with 2 losses...

and this is very interesting... the SLIAC has a quality of wins writeup as a part of the tiebreaker..... even though Webster and Westmin would have identical records in that they would have split with each other and each split with Mac,  Webster would have an advantage!!

BECAUSE
the loss at home by Westmin to Mac counts against Westmin more than the Webster loss to Mac on the road AT Mac....
of course this assumes Webster beats Mac at home, and that both Webster and Westmin win out with the exception of the projected webster loss at Westmin....

A lot of assumptions there, but thanks for doing the legwork.  Sometimes when it seems sure to end in a tie, it doesn't.  And when you think it couldn't happen, it does.  At this point I'd say we'll have an outright winner, but that's also an assumption.  :)

Webster seems to be playing good ball right now, the Prin game was probably a trap and not the norm for the Gorlocks.

Denny, none taken.  I understand the want for the tourney in STL.  It was nice to have it in Fulton but it probably feels more like a big time tournament in the city as opposed to Fulton, Carlinville, etc.

I went to the Webster / WC game a few years back '07 I think at Grant, that was a good atmosphere.  The game in fulton last year may have been equally as energized, but probably more with WC fans since less STL people probably made the trip.

A STL site always gets you a bigger turn out for the awards portion. Which means better crowd. IF in Stl the 2 v 3 game will be a game to see. The 1 v 4 game scares me.

Spalding plays a big role in where this tournament is played.

Random thoughts regarding going to Westmin - Mac

Always nice to see Westmin Assc AD Terry Logue... He recognized me as 'hopefan' several years ago and ever since, will always find time to sit down with me when I'm at Westmin to say hi and discuss how SLIAC basketball has been doing.....

Ditto for Mac Coach Creal who came into the stands to warn me to watch out for stray deer on the way home!!!! ;D ;D

Half time entertainment was a highschool dance team from Wentzville Holt, great dancers, great routine, but I don't think I would let my daughter make some of the suggestive movements in the middle of the floor that they were making....   I must be getting TOO old fashioned!!! ::) ::)

The game.... if you remember the first, it was very close at Mac until a rebound foul coupled with a Tech foul broke the game open in the last minute... this game was just as tight... a very aggressive game on the part of both teams, heavy duty rebounding, lots of bumping on defense....  Westminster led the first half, but Mac played vey well, just not hitting good shots... Westmin led by only 3 at half, and Mac took the lead at 42-41 with 12:30 left...   the score went back and forth until 7:30 when robertson scored to make it a 1 pt lead for Mac at 47-46....from there it went to 60-50 Mac lead at 2:50..  Westminster went into a press and was successful, Tolson got a 3pointer, then Profit got a hoop after a steal to get it to 60-55 at 1:51... McClellan hits 2 FT, but Vislay answers with only his second hoop of the game, 62-57 at 1:07 ..  Then James gets a steal and scores and it's 62-59 with 55 seconds and the place is going nuts... But then a critical call.. McClellan is trapped cold by two players and the mid court line, but the whistle blows and there is a reachin foul on tolson... I was watching, it was a very iffy call, very little contact.. CJ makes one, and while there are a couple of quick back and forths,it's over...

McClellan played very well against a defense designed to stop him... especially in the last couple of minutes, he controlled the ball... with any of the other Mac players, believe me, the ball could have gone ANYWHERE....

Charlie Henderson looks better everytime I see him... he really fit in during his time in the first half, and took the ball to the hole hard several times...  I would now rate him ahead of Huskey because of his athleticism and shooting the 10 to 15 footer...  this is not a shot at Huskie... I just think I'm seeing improvement in Henderson that I'm not seeing in Huskey    yet....

I'm sorry, Jake Vislay is not the player he was last year... while he was very active on the boards, he's rarely taking the ball to the basket, being content to shoot the 15 to 20 footer... well his shot is flat and hard, and it's not going to go in on most nights....  Instead Skylar tolson becomes the go to guy, and when your go to guy is primarily a three point shooter, you're not goin to get points 60% to 65% of your posessions in crunch time, even if you get a 3 point when you do score... tolson can take it to the hoop, don't know why he doesn't more often   (aka McClellan)...  Westmin has lost to Mac and Webster in the last 5 minutes.. just didn't get the job done...

The new Westnmin player Profitt goes to the hoop hard and makes things happen... I like that alot.. but unfortunately getting to the foul line 3 times in crunch time, he went 0 for 4....  but once again, I think he will help westmin big...

as Denny said... performance vs Spalding could be big... that's why I'm considering a trip to Louisville on Saturday to see Westmin at Spalding.. never been down there before.... will I have the energy?

Dylan Burton had a tough nite from the field and Coach Creal had to get on him to keep his head up....he is a tremendous athlete.. hope attitude doesn't hurt him over time

uh  Mac fans... chill out on yelling at the refs on every play... I had to move away from you, and I was really rooting for the underdog Macs that you were rooting for.....   somehow I don't think the fans I'm speaking of read this site though.... :D :D

So I missed picking this game thinking Westmin would hold homecourt... this is a big + in hopefan standings for Mac, and Fontbonne falls farther behind in the middle pack.....

Mac +2  (wins over Westmin and Webster)
Greenville +1  (win at Fontbonne)
Fontbonne -1 (loss to Greenville at home)

I'd love to see a Westmin Mac third game as the 2-3 game in conference tourney  ;) ;) ;)
