Actually, they've already a couple of times this season moved Wed games to Thurs.  (Why all our snow this year is on Wednesdays is a mystery! ::))

AARH - Your new goal should be to get as many negative karma as actual posts.  You're well on your way!

not a bad idea. i would still be interested in hearing just where Dennis has coached. he refer to me as "just a fan." Dennis, where have you coached?

I know Denny less than you do I'm sure.  Never met him, don't know what he looks like, maybe could spot him since he'd be around FU's bench?

From what I have read on here he's been a lifelong fan of his Father's.  I don't know if he's ever assisted.  It's not that I'm not interested, but I don't make a point of coming on here to figure out everyone's past.  I come on here to talk SLIAC hoops and the relationships that develop out of that are a bonus.

What's your story AA?  Like I said, it doesn't really matter to me that much but if you want to call everyone out on their history, fill us in on how you're such a big part of it all.

A Denny alter ego.

I wouldn't get too torn up about "destroying" school property by breaking a door.  I laid into a couple steel fire doors in frustration in the course of my 4 year career, one of which still bore indentations from my knuckles last time I visited.  Not my proudest moment, but I will say there is alot of blood, sweat, and tears laid on the practice floor.  You also have to figure you have a group of uber competitive persons on any team (at least you hope they are).  Emotions will and do run very high in sport and particurally in basketball, and at times emotions and frustrations boil over.  It's life lessons that any 18-22 year old should learn and grow from.

In my experiences as a player and coach for several years I'll take that group of emotional competitors over a passive group of players any day.  The emotional ones will cause you more stress and but they will also win you more games and give you greater pleasure in big wins.

Just my 2 cents

Your suggestion was to arrest the player. Really? For improper language? Then what?

Threatening to kill your coach? So out of control that you destroy school property by breaking a door in half while knocking it off its hinges? Doing it all in front of a whole gym full of people? Try that in the airport when they tell you your flight has been delayed. See what happens? Life's lesson, right.   And this is far from an isolated incedent, just the worst.

Q: What would constitute a two game suspension at FC?

Wow. And you say you were there. The threat was directed at PG Pat McCoy. And, I'm friends with Pat and he can be annoying at times. The old man part was at the coach. The observation of the door is so blown out of proportions it has become comical. Now the door was busted in half and knocked off the hinges.

Actually, the door was flung open so hard it banged the handle on the wall. Don't get me wrong it was loud. But the door was not replaced, nor hinges and still is being used.

"Life's lesson, right."

Exactly. Yea. Dad's comment was more of in the work place. And, that was what he felt he needed to address. Just booting a guy off the team does not allow you his audience again to teach. Nobody here knows exactly what lead up to this. And, it probably was not even basketball related. But, the young man went on to graduate on time and with honors. He has also been the former player who has called, came by to visit and was at the hospital more then any other player.

And, kicking him off the team and having him arrested would have resulted in what?

Denny McKinney

Believe me guys. Redhead knows exactly who I am and my background. He has been watching my Dad coach from at least the mid 80's. So he knows the family. It is not like I'm hiding behind a user name.

FYI - Rene Knott from Channel 5 news was at Webster U. today to do a story on the Gorloks.  Just thought I'd pass on some info and allow those posters who are interested to keep an eye out for the story.  I don't know when the story will run.  If I find out more, I'll certainly pass it on.

BunchTime

Maybe the more knowledgable D3 hoops posters know the answer to my question... any ideas or predictions on who the SLIAC rep will play in the NCAA Tourney this year?  Obviously, there is a lot of basketball to be played, but was wondering what the possibilities are this year.

Denny McKinney

Bunchtime buddy. Finally we get to meet up at the Ol Watering Hole before games. I'll buy the first round of coffee. This is the year.

Dad is on the Midwest region committee. Unfortunately with the Sliac OWP our rep wil most likely fill their usual role. Unless Wash U gets in and Gorlok's win it all. Then I think Webster would get the head to head nod. Plus you have to figure in the southern location of school and the chance to be sent south.

Didn't your team go to play @ Maryville Tenn?

Looking fwd to seeing you. You need to get by and see Dad.

Used to work in Washington. Never paid much attention to the D-III teams there. Glad someone opened his eyes. :)

Bunchtime............Clearly the top ranked team in the midwest is currently Augustana, no 3 in the country, out of the CCIW...now note that our MacMurray lost to them by only 3!!!!   At least it makes for some interesting conjecture!!!

Other top 25 teams out this way are No 8 St Thomas, No 10 UW River Falls, No 11 Wabash, No 12 UW Stevens Point, No 13 St Norbert, No 17 Centre, and No 20 Illinois Wesleyan.....and Chicago is currently leading the UAA

But it is very early, and the SLIAC's low man on the totem poll status coupled with our in the middle of everything geography usually means our Rep is a 'filler'.. we could go almost anywhere we don't have to fly..

And Emory is second.  Chicago is tied with WashU for third - and Chicago has a losing record overall.

Denny McKinney

Pat Mr. Knott has done two segments from FU the past two seasons. Maybe a change of scenery did him some good.

oooops... should have doublechecked....  well Chicago WAS leading the UAA ;D ::)
