Daryl - Glad to hear you went for the warmer weather. My choice when Dad is done. I prefer the Gulf coast.

Hopefan - Can't believe your favorite Dan Lisch wasn't mentioned with the above. ;D

PS - Daryl are you still involved in America's Favorite Pastime in anyway. ie Coaching?

Daniel was on my list, but obviously didn't have the numbers to justify making the top 12....  now then, IF he earns the kind of minutes he got vs Prin, his defensive efforts could elevate him to my All-soph season ending team!!!!  I know you remember how hard I pushed for Chad Fornie several years ago... well, defensively, Daniel matches up to that level... he has to be better offensively, and of course, unfortunately, the surrounding cast doesn't come close to matching what Chad had to work with... Chad didn't have to score anything with Fogerty, McCoy, Storandt and B___h doing it all..... Fontbonne doesn't have that luxury now.....

I don't know the answer to that question. It's strictly an internal matter for the league to decide. However, I can tell you that Spalding is a third-year provisional member of D3 this year, which means that it remains ineligible for the D3 tournament, although games played against the Golden Eagles now count towards an opponent's strength of schedule as far as the D3 selection committee's ranking parameters are concerned.

That means that Spalding will be a fourth-year provisional member next year -- still ineligible for the D3 tourney -- and a full member in 2012-13. Since the Golden Eagles still won't be able to go dancing next year, my guess is that the people who run the SLIAC would rather not face the potential embarrassment of having their conference tournament be won by a team that can't use the autobid that comes with winning the tournament. So, if I were a betting man, I'd say that Spalding has one more year of ineligibility for the SLIAC tourney as well as the D3 tourney.

Chad had the body and strength to guard a PG - 4. His biggest atribute was the ability to simply deny you from touching the ball. I can remember a Sliac Tourney game, when WU had a real good scoring PG. Chad refused to let him handle the ball. WC had a big time scorer who played his last game against Chad (in The Sliac Tourney) and still talks about how bad it was. He shutdown an AA from Wash U, who was much taller then him.

He is the only defensive player to be selected the Sliac Tourney MVP.

Shoot he single handedly changed the awards given out by this conference. Instead of the All Defensive Team, it should be the Chad Fournie Award.

Defenders like Chad come along far between. He also got his points off the boards and developed a pretty good 8 foot jumper his Sr year.

Let's not hang that pressure on Daniel just yet.

Dead on Sager. 12-13 year.

If not now, when... nothing to lose with this season.....unless the Griffs win the next 4 in a row, this is a non post season experience.... and Lisch had alot to do with the win over Prin....

You have to be kidding me....   I'm sure he'd rather have that pressure on him than sitting on the bench watching many of his teammates jacking up 3's and playing half baked defence....

Fournie was my favorite player of the premier Fontbonne years...  I see Lisch with many of the same attributes... he clearly relishes playing defence, good strength, reasonable quickness, aggressive attitude....  given the opportunity, and with improvement on the offensive end (mental and skill wise), he can help the program just as Fornie did....  But I'm not so sure you and I will ever agree on that one......  Not a shot at you, Denny, just a disagreement on what we're seeing in a player.... ;)

You miss understood Hopefan. Lisch will get his chance the next 7 games. I'm just saying it's way to early to even think about comparison. If Daniel continues to play under control and only shoots when forced to, he can really help us. We just now have got him to drop all the one on one activity. And did a great job Saturday.

ok Denny   good   we agree... ;)  late at work, gotta go home....

You are definately sticking to your word!!!

This Saturdays FU @ EC game is serious trap game. EC could be ranked #2000 for all I know, but FU barelyahead of them. With the new FU rotation how to match up. Who do you key Lisch on? Could Jenkins guard Lessen if Woods is ineffective. Who to put Hamilton on? Who will they assign to Dioum? This game sets up well for agood game for Fleming. Or do we not show up again?

I think having another PG on the floor (Hamilton), helps Lisch on the floor Eric @ 6'4 can control flow if necesesary.

Can Lisch keep from getting his s 2nd foul in the first 12 mins.?

Can FU score ?

Started contemplating my all Junior team.... VERY difficult... There are over 20 juniors eligible for consideration..  3 obviously stand out, (Trimble, Hilliard, McAfee), but it's a real hodge-podge after that of guys who have good games one night, and not so good the next....  stay tuned.....

Incidently noticed Prin won a barnburner at Blackburn last night....  no boxscores up yet, and the Blackburn site hasn't been updated in weeks, which is pretty pitiful.... why can't Blackburn win games???  From comments I've heard, their talent level is pretty decent......

ok I'm ready...  Hopefan's ALL SLIAC JUNIOR Team

Again... based on conference game performance

First Team

Willie Trimble  6'0"  Webster  point guard  14.1 ppg, 50% from field, 41 assists,   4.5 rpg.....    has taken Webster to league lead, great quicks on defense, creative on offense, streaky shooter who doesn't overdo it....  a pleasure to watch.

KJ Hilliard  6'3"  Greenville   small forward   15.9 ppg, 50% from field  90% from the line, 5.4 rpg....  leaper, slasher to the basket, like Trimble, fun to watch play the game

DeWhon McAfee  6'0"  Spalding   Guard   19.5 ppg  48% from field  4.4 rpg   does it all, consistant scorer

Julian Lott   5' 10" Blackburn guard   15.5 ppg  41% from field  4.4 rpg   1.9 asst to turnover....   scorer, but solid assists and rebound numbers too....

5th spot was tossup beteen Lou Dioum fontbonne and Madison Medley BC
Goes to  Lou Dioum 6'3" Fontbonne  small forward  12.4 ppg 42% from field, 7.1 rpg... oustanding jumping ability, attacks the basket... my hesitancy is due to big turnovers number and misses around the hoop, but it's because he is so active....

2nd team
Madison Medley  6' 6" Blackburn 11.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg....  numbers not quite up to Dioums'
Cody Cutsinger  6'2" guard Spalding   10.6 ppg 52%  1.8 Asst to TO...    If I didn't feel the necessity to have 2 forwards on first team, cutsinger would have been 1st team.. solid in all numbers
Markeith Brown   6'4"  Greenville   instant offense off bench 8.6 ppg
Clint Lee  6'0" guard MacMurray....  not big numbers, but great quicks at point and outstanding defense
fifth spot tossup between Weymouth and Woods
I go with Kelsy Weymouth 6"4" Westminster  5.3ppg, 63% from field 5.3 rpg

Woods missed due to lack of minutes as a starter....
