Greenville vs fontbonne box is up on Greenville site, Greenville winning by 13... Greenville goes 5 for 23 from 3's ... but not to be outdone, Fontbonne goes 2-24....

2-24 is going to overshadow just about anything else positive that one can find.. Dioum has another good game with 20 points, 12 rebounds.. is really coming on strong the lastseveral games...

Also good to see KJ Hilliard bounce back after a couple of weak games... goes 7 for 11, 22 points

I was just reading the board and want to make a comment concerning the health of Coach McKinney.  I am in contact with the McKinney family regularly and know the status of Coach's health.  The implication that Hopefan gave was NOT  CORRECT! At a low point and moving up...YES!

Hope - your constant interpretation of situations continues to amaze me at how WRONG you can be and how uncouth the comment you made concerning Coach on this PUBLIC board.

DO YOU KNOW THAT HIS GRANDKIDS READ THIS BOARD?   How horrible will it be for them to read the implication you have made here!!!!

I sincerely hope that this message is not pulled and EVERYONE HAS A CHANCE TO READ IT./color]

Pat Coleman

Relax -- hopefan didn't provide a specific diagnosis and didn't put himself out there as a medical professional. I doubt his grandchildren are going to take the word of a message board poster over the words of medical professionals.

thoughts on Webster at Westmin..

Only cody Bradfisch had a good game for Webster.. yet was on the bench for more time than expected.. 8 for 13 from field, 3 3's , 22points.... Trimble had what may have been his worst game of the season, very careless with the ball, some forced shots, 2 for 12 from the field....  he needed to take over in the last 5 minutes and could not... the boxscore on SLIAC.org credits Willie with 5 FGs and Cody with 5 FGs... if that's correct, Westmins water must be laced with something, because that is not what  saw, nor denoted in my scoresheet....

The article on the Webster website says Trimble had 21 points, Bradfisch 14. http://www.websterathletics.com/news/2011/2/16/MBB_0216111509.aspx

I'm sure it's possible to score 21 points and have an otherwise bad game, but I'm curious as to how you and the article and the box score (which I haven't looked at) can seem so at odds with each other, especially given that I know you are very careful in recording stats during the game.

I feel a need to say this. Not a thing wrong with what Hope Fan said about Coach McKinney. I have been the one Dennis has gone after most on here. His quote from yesterday:

"All American Red head. As Yjak can tell ya, my Mom is a regular reader of this board. She has really enjoyed reading your posts thru this time. I'm sure your Vendetta has lift your spirits. Take a look in the mirror."
All I have said about Coach McKinney has been in the context of evaluating his coaching ability. In a nut shell I have said he is a great recruiter and PR man, and I respect his longevity; one the flip side I don't think he is a good game coach. In no way is that an attack on him as a person and the kind of give and take dialogue one should expect on a board such as this. If you can't handle that then maybe sons, wives and grandkids shouldn't read this board.

Reading Dennis' last post yesterday, it seems he was trying to orchestrate some type of story from D3Hoops about Coach Mckinney missing the game and when it didn't materialize, he posted that Coach McKinney had been in the hospital since the night before. Dennis had four posts before this and didn't mention anything about a hospital admission.

People deal with grief in different ways, but attacking others who have in no way been disrespectful to Coach McKinney as a person, is not fair.

If you go back and read this board from the beginning, this is the third year in a row that Dennis has sworn off ever posting again, then a mysterious long distance anonymous poster begins to surface. Last year it was "I had game". Now it is "Distant Observer." It is not hard to figure who this person is.

I wish nothing but the best for Coach McKinney's health. To be honest, my distant opinion is he should have not coached this year. It could not have been good for his health and was, in my opinion, not fair to the players. Hopefully, the off season will get him some needed rest leading to improved health and he will be back on the bench next fall.

Now, please, back to the games.

I didn't get that impression. Not sure if anyone tried to contact us but I didn't get anything. I learned from the post, same as the rest of us. And since Wednesday is a pretty busy game night, it wasn't until pretty late in the evening that I got to reading the SLIAC board.

A bad day just got a little better... I talked to the Webster SID and Coach Bunch had 'read in D3 Hoops' about the discrepancy... Webster's book agreed with me and the article will be corrected, along with a revision of the stats...  the article was generated from Westmin's stats, which were in error...  it sounded as if new stats may be generated from film as there were also questions about assists and turnovers in both games, so not sure when ultimate corrections will be made.

Denny thanks for your contributions and my thoughts and prayers are with Coach and your family.

Guys it's a message board full of individual thoughts that should provoke conversations and disagrements. Not to be taken personally.

The article on the Webster page has already been changed and agrees with my stats.. thanks to Niel DeVasto, Webster SID,  for the quick edit and pleasant conversation... and for assuring me that I WASN'T going senile ;D ;D

I don't think hopefan made any comment regarding the coach's health as a personal jab.  If you read his comment, he said what he said after a lengthy talk with denny,  which would imply that any comments hopefan made, were made from information taken directly from denny.  So just relax.

If anything, I interpreted hope's comment as showing concern for the coach's family during these hard times.

As far as grandkids, I am sure they are intelligent people who have a pretty good idea of what coach's prognosis is and could care less what somebody says on a message board.

Sorry to hear about Coach McKinney.  From me Coach Stennis and the Rust College Family our Thoughts and prayers going out to his family.

I view this weekend and next weekend at the best weekends of D3hoops..

This weekend, most conferences across the country are establishing the pecking order within their conference tourneys and location of games... a high percentage of games are extremely meaningful to 1 or both teams as it could mean hosting or not, making the conference tourney or not, being seeded benefitially or not....  great fun to follow..

The SLIAC is no exception... Webster needs to beat Greenville and archrival Fontbonne to clinch first, assuming Westmin prevails over Eureka and Prin.... Mac is off tomorrow and has Eureka at home on Tuesday.. a win there clinches third, and Greenville is locked into 4th

Of course next weekend is conference tourney weekend, as probably about 50% of D3 schools (over 200 schools) will be playing for an entry to 'the dance'...

How is momentum riding entering the conference tourney.. well it's clear that Westmin and Mac both have plusses... Westmin beat Webster on Wednesday and Mac should be entering the tourney with a 5 game winning streak.  The next two games are crucial for Webster (Greenville and Fontbonne), to see if they can 'get it back'... given close wins over Prin  and Eureka, and losses to Blackburn and Westmin, they need the upper that two wins would give them...the recurring wrist/hand soreness of Nick Jones is a major concern.... Greenville could enter in rough shape unless they can score the upset over Webster or Spalding, but if that were to happen, they too would be on a high entering the tourney....
