Webster loses to Lindenwood 78-55,  Greater concern is absence of Cody Bradfish from the boxscore.....

Hopefan.....finally got on here.  I wouldn't worry to much about Bradfisch.  I think it was just a nice chance for him to have a long stretch to recover from some nagging injuries.

ALL right... a Recruit!!!!   (and I'll put him under the boards against anyone!!!) ;D ;D

That's VERY good news regarding Bradfisch....   hope he'l be ready for BC on Saturday....  though I'll be catching the game at Greenville instead....

Highlanders quickly break from gate to start the second half, up 35-29 with 16:20 to play.

MacHighlander

40-37 Eureka with 12:50 to play. looks like a game of runs. Hopefully Mac can finish strong.

MacHighlander

Mac back in front, 46-42 with 7:28 left to go. Barnburner at the Reagan Center!

MacHighlander

Mac in front of Eureka 57-55 with 1:30 left to play. Mac needs a couple of stops and then hit their free throws. White-knuckle time.

MacHighlander

Highlanders on top 59-58 with 28 seconds left to play.

MacHighlander

Mac wins 64-60 at Eureka.

Tough, hard fought win for the Highlanders and Coach Creal.

The "hopefan plan" takes a hit as Eureka fails to hold home court.  Probably won't be the last time this happens before the post-season rolls around.

SLIACFAN

Huge win for Mac tonight in a barnburner at Eureka...total team effort all the way through. They now play Fontbonne at home Saturday, after getting upset at Fontbonne. I expect them to take care of business this time around, Creal will make sure of that!

Great call by MacH sticking with his Highlanders...  two items stick out in the box score.. Clayton Whitlock dominates Mark Lessen statistically... 21 points to 8...and Eureka shoots 6 for 29 from 3 point land (Lessen gets 9 shots while Kindred, Fritsch, Nailor go 1-16 from 3 point land)  remember what I said about Crucial for point guard to get ball to good shots?... that's a huge number of possessions not scoring... can't imagine why they had to fall into that kind of game... though with Whitlock starting, thats tremendous Mac size... Maybe Eureka simply couldn't get shots inside the perimeter...   As pointed out, this really puts the pressure on Eureka, with only road games left against each of the teams they are competing with for playoff spots..

Wow Clayton Whitlock... only a frosh... really would appear to currently be right up there for bragging rights as best BIG man in conference with Lessen, Brasher.... Coach Creal brought him along slowly, good move, because he sure is playing well now......Kid really uses his size in the middle to get easy shots...And Mac clearly goes to him with regularity...

Hopefan Plan REVISED
for simplicity  let's assume each team wins it's remaining home games against each other (Therefore they lose when they are away), and each team wins any remaining games with BC, Font, and Prin

Ending standings would look like this:

1    Webster      13-3
2    Mac            12-4
3    Greenville     11-5
4    Westmin       10-6
NA   Spalding       10-6
Out  Eureka         9-7

Obviously any game between these teams is Huge... and on any full 4 game league game day, there will be at least one, if not 2 or even 3, HUGE games......

hopefan - What are the chances of Mac and Webster tying for first, and if it happens, what would the tiebreaker look like?

WU FAN

Here's the tiebreaker procedures.

Tie-Breaker:  The following procedure shall be utilized to break all ties for SLIAC Tournament seeding
and qualification:
(1) Head-to-head competition between tied teams
(2) Record vs. other SLIAC teams, starting with first-place
(3) Quality of Wins Index, Conference contests only (see Appendix E)
(4) Use seed, not place finish.  Break other ties first, use team seeds rather than place finish
(5) Look at losses.  Using the same formula as the quality of wins index but taking only loses into
account
(6) Look at wins.  Using the  same formula as the quality of wins index but taking only wins into
account
(7) Disregard the "always return to head-to-head competition once a team is eliminated" and use the
tie-breaker to put a team in the Tournament or to assign a higher seed.
(8) Coin toss
The tie-breaker process for multi-team ties will always return to head-to-head competition once a
team has been eliminated.  Only games counted as Conference competitions shall be used in tiebreaker process.

The chances of Mac tying with Webster are obviously slim, what with Webster holding a 3 game lead.... they each have 5 games left with the top 6... Mac has 3 of their 5 at home, Webster has 2 of their 5 at home....  Mac needs to run the table, including beating Webster at Mac, and hope Webster loses two others.. (Webster's other two away games vs top 6 are at Westmin, and at Spalding... they have Eureka and Greenville at home.....)
