Doesn't sound like too many Westminster people made the trip.  The Westminster crowd was obviously very small compared to the Hopefans (hehe) in attendance. I am willing to bet none of the Westmin players have ever played in front of a crowd of 3500 people cheering against them. What an experience! It sounds like the Blue Jays quieted the home crowd in the first half with excellent play and hard work. In the end, not the result they wanted, but definitely they went down fighting.

Congrats to the fighting Buddy Sodemanns (Illinois Wesleyan) on knocking off the #1 Hope College!

Thanks MOBall for the response... at least you got us off of page 666  ;D ;D ;D

For the number of views these pages get.... approx 400/day lately, Very disappointing that either no one reads it from Westminster in order to tell us about the Michigan experience, or, people who went up read it, but chose not to respond....

I am not certain, but I believe AC Slater made the trip. I'm calling you out AC!  :P ;D 8-)

On another note, those Michigan posters killed my karma! They don't mess around!

I forget... what did you say?   Ahhhh, I checked it out.... when you show attitude as a guest in a room that has 25-50 regular posters, you WILL get knocked.....

I accused one of them of "whining" about the officials. One of the Michigan posters made a comment about a missed travelling call, and went on to post verbatim from the "travelling" section of the rulebook.

ahhhh - But YOU were on THEIR home turf... very little entitlement!!!   Now, if they had come into the SLIAC Room.... ;D ;D ;D      Hang in there, I'll help your Karma out.....

One thing I will say - after seeing Westminster play the number 1 team in the nation twice (Wash U. 2 years ago and now Hope), I have to wonder how in the world these rankings are made.

Wash U and Hope were both good teams, but I was never impressed with them being top in the country. Maybe it was just those years because they lost in the next round each year.

Lets go fighting Sodemans!

Washington University had both the potential, in terms of starters returning after two championship seasons, and the record (24-2) and strength of schedule going in to the tournament.  How often does the No. 1 team win a championship?

If you're complaining about Wash U and Hope ranking No 1 at the time, it seems obvious that they had earned that ranking with the season that they had up to that point...

If you are complaining about Westminster.. at least this season....  it's obvious that Westminster caught on fire at the end of the season..  but losing to the likes of Rhodes (badly), Webster (badly), Edgewood (by 30), Coe, Cornell, and Wheaton by 15 at home... all before Dec was over... sealed their fate as far as ANY ranking was concerned....

I think what you are seeing is that the world of D3 is not so top heavy as some would think.  It's also obvious that Coach Matt Mitchell does a heck of a job prepping his teams to play in the Tourney.....The conference needs to get better so we get to play someone other than a top seed in the first round.... if we could just get a neutral court  game like Fontbonne did the one year, I really think our champs could  be very competitive....

I think it's hard to determine a true #1 team during the regular season since the top D3 schools from different regions play each other relatively fewer times than in say, D1. I'd agree with Hopefan that D3 isn't as top heavy as many would believe. As AC Slater was saying, the Westminster-Hope, WC-Wash U of 2 years ago, and many other games provide examples that the SLIAC can hang with the big boys. We just need to get over that hump as a conference, start winning some games, and not have to play the top seeds anymore in the first round.

newcardfan, they're brutal! They are on another level of D3 fandom than I will ever be. Hopefan, thanks for picking me up. I'd give you some karma love if I could.

I would love to see the SLIAC get over the hump, but as a conference, the SLIAC has a long way to go.

The regular crowd in the MIAA room is a little more prone to express its satisfaction or dissatisfaction with posts via the applaud and smite buttons than are the regulars in other rooms. Not saying that that's bad or good, it's just the way things are in MIAA-land.

There and a few other boards as well. And then there are some boards where you can rip each other apart with no hits to your K's.
