I LOVE most of the music the kids warm up to today!!!   I remember when I was coaching we liked "Taking care of Business", and one I'll never forget is going over to Brockport to scout them before we played them in the tourney and them coming out very big, very intimidating to "the Express" by BT Express...  I came back talking more about warming up to a 'choo choo train song' than the game...

Most of the music I hear in warmups before basketball games is hip-hop, which generally isn't my thing; I'm a rock'n'roll guy. But every now and then I'll hear a hip-hop song in a gym somewhere and really like it. The classic examples for me are Outkast's "Hey Ya!", which I first heard in the North Central gym, Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" (although the latter has a lot more to do with the superb remix of Etta James's "Something's Got a Hold On Me" that's sampled throughout the song than with Flo's rap), and Kanye West's "Power" (again, though, I love the arrangement and the background vocals -- but Kanye's self-absorbed rap itself is a colossal pile of doo-doo). Both of those were featured prominently in this past season's warmup mix for the North Park women's team (with the swearing blanked out, of course). I've noticed that women's teams tend to have better choices in warmup music than do the men. Don't know why that is.

Best recent example of a song that I discovered through basketball was, oddly enough, one I discovered because it was used as part of the backing music for the season highlight video at NPU's recent women's basketball banquet: "Gold On the Ceiling" by the Black Keys. I love this song!

North Park's 1987 national championship team always came out onto the floor for the pregame layup line to the Beastie Boys' "You Gotta Fight For the Right To Party" before home games. I'll never be able to hear that song without thinking about that team.

MacMurray Coach Todd Creal (spelling corrected  ;)) gets a potential replacement for the graduated Clint Lee at Point Guard...

Kollin Keltner from Franklin High School....   very local to Mac as the young man decided to stay close to home....  also considered Blackburn, Millikin, Lake Forest....   great quicks, good shooter, 13.5 ppg senior year, 1124 points career.

Keltner will undoubtedly be given a shot at the point guard spot ... the Mac roster is loaded with experience, but no true point guard returns...

from Coach Creal  (spelling corrected  ;)) "He was a guy we recruited all year and has big time quickness and big time athletic ability for a PG his size and can knock down the perimeter shot.   He was our top recuit at the PG position so we got who we wanted.  He is a natural leader with an engaging personality. He is another local area kid that should fit right into our team make-up and help us win games in his career."

Nothing more has been sent to me than what I've written.. the big class at Fontbonne, the sought-after point guard at Mac.  Greenville's incoming guys are given a nice writeup on the Greenville.edu site.   Webster, Blackburn, and Westminster responded to me, but were not yet ready to divulge any names, and Eureka hasn't responded to me at all.

Call me a bit on the disappointed side of things.

Not sure about EC recruits, but word is maybe a couple more JC kids coming in.  Lessen looks in tremendous shape based on pick-up game action; I think he can be even a more dominant force in this conference.  Jordan Kindred is likely playing receiver for the football team this fall, hopefully the knee is healthy for bball season.

Kindred.. football?     ouch.....   holding my breath on that one....   Jordan, stick to the frat league, I want to see you out on the hardwood for one more year!!!

Todd Creal  (spelling corrected   ;) ;))at Mac adds to his depth.....

Tyler Watson 6'2    2/3 position   Carrollton, IL  12.0 PPG 5.6 REB  45-140 from "3"   He was the second leading scorer and rebounder for the Carrollton Hawks who lost in the 1A State Championship Game and finished 30-5.  He is a long lanky athlete that has played for a highly successful HS. He was 2nd Team All Area.

He is also a pitcher for their 1A Defending State Champion baseball team and is currently 6-0 on the mound for their team which is now 22-5 in their efforts to repeat as state champions.

Seems like Coach Creal (spelling corrected   ;))is pretty content to recruit the small school Central Illinois area... It's gotten him to the SLIAC playoffs on a consistent basis... now it's time to see if these kids can step up and gain an NCAA slot...

Titan, Thanks for that.  You would think Todd has garnered enough respect to have his name spelled correct.

Geesh HCAC   tough night?

And by the way, if you are going to call me out on spelling, let's do it with proper grammar..
Coach's name should be spelled correctly, with correct spelling.
Please correct me correctly ;) ;) ;D ;D

Haha.  ;D ;D
A lttle Westminster news. I'll respect Coach's wishes and not use a name. But, I know WC won the recruiting war for a 6'8 kid who I saw play twice. Long and Lanky. Needs to add weight. Probably play the 4 because of his shooting ability. Natural shot blocker. Good Get for Coach Mitchell.

Sounds very similar to Wetmin - to - Arkansa  Charlie Henderson...  Would be great if the new transfer exhibited as much potential as Charlie did....

I've gone another 6 days with no response from coaches regarding recruits except for the new pickup by Coach Creal at Mac...  Lips are sealed....

I don't think I mentioned transfer anywhere in my post. Incoming Freshmen. The Kid has potential to be a good SLIAC player. Has the tools. Will he find weight room?
