How in the world did Pat Coleman know to be at the Eureka-Knox football game????

Nice job in getting Jordan Kindred on the front page of D3hoops  (I KNOW it was him, Any real fan of SLIAC hoops would recognize that tatoo!)

Think folks... here's a kid who had 40 against Greenville in a huge win on the basketball court last year, then goes out and catches 13 passes for 235 yards on the football field...Incredible!!!...
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Incidentally, per NCAA.Com, Kindred's debut on the gridiron has him no 2 in the nation in receiving yards and no. 2 in the nation in receptions.....

It was already in the plans even before I saw the whole Lincoln Bowl concept. Basically, it was on the way from St. Louis to Minneapolis and involved a campus I'd never seen before. Then they gave it a cool little rivalry concept and I was doubly sold.

Eureka's new website launched this morning, and its 2012-13 men's basketball schedule is out: http://eurekareddevils.com/schedule.aspx?path=mbball

Thanks ECRD83

so Eureka's non conference schedule is:

at Lincoln Christian  (9-17)
vs Monmouth  (7-16)
vs Rockford  (12-14)
vs Central  (18-8)
at North Park  (6-19)
at Texas - Pan Am  (11-21)  (Division 1)
at SIU Edwardsville  (10-18) (Division 1)
Concordia (Ill)  (10-16)
Lincoln Christian  (9-17)

The two Division 1 games are really something to look forward to, but the other 7 games present a pretty disappointing lineup...   the heavily senior oriented linup deserves at least one or two games against better D3 competition than this.... and two games against Lincoln Christian?  The soft schedule beyond the two D1 games pushes this schedule to number 6 ahead of only Prin and Greenville

Schedule rating    still missing Westminster
1) Fontbonne
2) Spalding
3) MacMurray
4) Webster
5) Blackburn
6) Eureka
7) Principia
8) Greenville

Ok, maybe, but isn't it likely that NP, Central, and Rockford were all contracted home and aways? Not much you can about their records from last year.  Also remember that EC lost to both Rockford and Central on the road and played a close game with NP.

LC is a regular game for us and it looks like Monmouth replaces Rose-Hulman, who likely had finished up their two year commitment. You'd like to see a little stronger non-conf. schedule, but again, if you have an agreement you have an agreement.

You may be right on the reasons ECreddevils, but my only goal was to compare the schedules of the SLIAC teams, not look into the reasons behind it....  though I'd love to hear whatever connection exists that generated the game with Texas Pan AM.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Eureka get 5,6, or even 7 wins in that non conference schedule - they should be that good, and the schedule gives them opportunitiies for wins in all but the D1 matchups......  And I hope I'm free to see the game at SIUE...

I agree I'd rather see us with Fontbonne's schedule, only because I believe this our year to win the SLIAC and get to the little big dance.  We should be 7-0 or 6-1 going into the TX- Pan Am game.  And I'm not sure how we got that game, but will be a good experience.  I also heard EC may be going on a pre-season trip to Canada--not sure about the details, but in 2009 we played in Guelph, London, and Winsdor, Ontario.  That will help us for sure.

Dunno about Central and Rockford, but NPU is indeed in the second year of a two-year contract with Eureka.

What are you guys looking like this year?  I thought you played tougher than your record last year.

No, actually the Eureka game was one contest of which the Vikings coaches and players with whom I spoke about it (I didn't make the trip to Eureka for the game) said that NPU really played like crap that night.

NPU is a work in progress. The new head coach and the new recruiting coordinator, both of whom were summer hires and who therefore had very little time to pound the pavement and bring in new players, are counting upon two or three new transfers to meld with the two returning stars and one up-and-coming sophomore to form what they hope will be a first-rate, if thin in numbers, rotation. NPU is in wait-and-see mode at the moment.

I received Westminster's schedule from Coach Mitchell...  It's a good one

vs Rhodes  (18-9)
Vs Hendrix   (6-19)
vs Milwaukee School Engineering  (10-15)
vs Edgewood  (23-7)
at Missouri S&T (Rolla) D2  (7-20)
at Elmhurst  (12-13)
at Wheaton  (23-7)
vs Coe  (19-8)
vs Cornell  (3-22)

8 D3 games and 1 D2 game... Great!!!!!  Nice blend of likely wins with several big challenges...  I rate this schedule no 2 in the conference, behind only Fontbonne

Schedule rating
1) Fontbonne      Wash U, Augie, Rose Hulman, Central, Edgewood  AND a trip to Daytona vs good D3 comp
2) Westminster    D2 Mo S&T, Wheaton, Elmhurst, Edgewood Rhodes and Coe
3) Spalding   Transy, Anderson, T More, D1 Gardner Webb, 26-8 Indiana SE, and a trip East vs good d3
4) MacMurray  Augie, Wash U, McKendree, Platteville, Rust and Sewanee at Webster
5) Webster    Rust and Sewanee at Webster, Wash U, Elmhurst, Lindenwood St Chas
6) Blackburn   Rhodes, Dubuque, Aurora
7) Eureka    Central, D1's SIUE, Texas PanAm
8) Principia     McKendree
9) Greenville   Rhodes, Mo Bap

I received a list of Westminster's recruits...  unfortunately most of the new faces are either not from the St Louis area or are from JCs, so I couldn't find much in the way of stats...  it looks like a very solid, well rounded group of players..

2 kids from Blair Oaks, down near Jeff City... Ben Cooper, 6'2" and Kellen Brondell, 6'7"...  Blair Oaks is a class 3 school, plays pretty decent competition... found some box scores where both of these guys performed well...  Both made first team Al Tricounty and First Team All District.   The remarks that I've heard is that both are good enough to find playing time as Frosh.

2 kids from Rolla   Jay Zallis 6'2"  16 points per game; Keegan Garner 6'5" 10ppg  8rpg

Mike Ebert 6'6" Lindbergh...  9 ppgt, 4rpg,  3 apg...  gotta think he's played against good competition...

Mike Bussman  6'5" Gillespie....  13 ppg (from St Louis Post, which had about 70% of Gillepsie's games)

Trent Roach  6'2"  Pleasant Hill Missouri just outside of KC...

and two JCrs

Robbie Burroughs  6'2"....  Santa Rosa JC   from Coach Mitchell   "Great Athlete that will help immediately"
Could this be the SLIAC's next Willie Trimble?  I found some writeups that he started on s a very good JC team....

Jordan Jones  6'0"   STLCC.   All Region XVI JC First Team  "Immediate Depth at Point guard"

There is some size here that is badly needed, even moreso dependent on the health of Joe Prophet....but it all is in the freshman group... big question is can one or two of those frosh bigs step up....  If Jones and Burroughs can flow right in, Westmin could be extremely athletic, but with no size but the frosh....
