Okay, here's a scheduling tidbit. I count 26 games on the Iowa Wesleyan schedule.

My best guess... the game with Truman State is an exhibition game and doesn't count for Iowa Wesleyan.

Probably right, but most exhibitions are usually played before the official start of the season, right? Is it allowed to play an exhibition once the season is officially underway?

I'm thinking yes, allowed after official games start... seems to me Spalding had the same situation last year with a D1 game on the schedule (in fact, maybe two D1 games) and Coach Gray told me one was an exhibition, and if memory serves me right, it was a December date

Last season Spalding played 25 regular season games, 2 SLIAC tournament games and one NCAA tournament game: http://spaldingathletics.com/2012-mens-basketball-schedule/

The exhibition game may have been on the original schedule, which is why I questioned Coach Gray, but not on the results schedule as it doesn't count in the record....

FOUND IT... it was for the 2011-2012 season...  I would not have asked about a game scheduled prior to season starting date, so they evidently had 27 games on their schedule.....   SEE BELOW

Thanks Coach... assuming Coastal is one of them, which is the other exhibition?

Two of the games are exhibition games.

Hi coach, I'm a SLIAC hoops fan and was checking out schedules for the upcoming season...

I have a question regarding Spalding's Schedule....

Spalding plays 16 league games....
Spalding will play 2 games each in the Marietta tourney, the Spalding tourney, and the D3hoops tourney in Vegas = 6 games
Spalding has 5 other games on its schedule...Transylvania, Coastal Carolina, Anderson, Indiana SE, and Thomas More

That adds to 27 games, but the max is 25....   Are two games on the schedule in error?

Any help you can give me would be appreciated

Spalding's schedule for 2013-14 is up...

Now look, none of you readers breathe a word of this....
Iowa Wesleyan's schedule says the neutral site game with Spalding in February is at MacMurray
Spalding's schedule says that same neutral site game is at Eureka

DON't TELL ANYONE!!!  We'll see if they show up at two different places..   WHO GETS the WIN?

I guess I would like to hear from someone who knows the rules whether or not "in season" exhibition games are permitted. It appear from what occurred with Spalding on 2011-12 that the answer would be affirmative. So if someone out there can clue me in, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

They are permitted. I believe they count toward one of the allotted 25 regular season games. However if a team plays it as an exhibition it does not count towards their record.

Okay, thanks. Now that leaves us with the question of Iowa Wesleyan having 26 games on their schedule. I think 2013-14 is their first year of provisional D3 membership in the SLIAC. Do they get a pass on the 25 regular season games rule because they are new?

REMINDER....   Summer League Basketball at 6:30   TONIGHT at Webster.... thanks Polar Pop for letting us know and I verified with a call to Webster just to make sure....    unfortunately I may not be able to make it... we'll see...

Started looking around for schedules today... only two SLIAC schools have next year's schedules posted so far...  Webster and Iowa Wesleyan (the SLIAC's new member)

Interesting tidbit in Iowa Wesleyan's Schedule.... When they play Spalding, 450 miles away, neither team will make the full trip.....
When they play on Dec 7, they will play at neutral court Fontbonne in St Louis
When they play on Feb 6, they'll play at neutral court MacMurray in Jacksonville, Ill

Webster non league games are
St Joe's Calumet and Rust at Webster Tourney
Dominican at home
Elmhurst at home
Monmouth at home
at Wash U

There is room for one more non conference game....

Webster catches Great scheduling Break: St. Joe's Calumet (?????)
@ Home Rust (10-14)
@ Home Dominican (10-17)
@ Home Elmhurst (6-19)
@ Home Monmouth (7-16)

By Wash U, Webster could have some momentum going into that game. Some good in - region opponents. Coach says he's bringing in a truckload. With Griffith could be quick load back to Webster style Ball.

YJak. My understanding is you get 25 NCAA games and 2 exhibitions. Exhibitions are Late Nite Alumni Games, Juco scrimmages, games against D1 teams. Two exhibition games can appear on a schedule making it appear to be 27 (should say exhibit). Both teams must count it as exhibition. Period. FC used two in Jamaica, vs. Olympic Squad. At Christmas. I'm not so sure the date is as important as participants and type of game.

Just my best memory. But pretty close.  :) ??? ;D

Where's Sager when we need him???!!! ;D ;D ;D

I thought that exhibition games had to be played before November 15th. After that they were considered to be regular season games even if they were D1 teams. As an example, for the past few years MIT has played D1 Harvard and these games were exhibition games as they took place before Nov. 15th. MIT lost those games and they were not counted in their record. Two seasons ago Oswego State played D1 Texas-Pan American on Jan 3rd 2012. That game did count as one of their 25 regular season games and was a loss on their record. That same season Wentworth Tech from Massachusetts also played Texas-Pan American on December 15th, 2011 and it counted as a regular season game for them with a loss on their record.

Where's the Guru when we need him? or Sager, or Ralph?

Noticed big man Matt Murphy from Jerseyville/McKendree playing with Westminster last night.  Does anybody know if he has transferred there?  Or maybe he was just filling in because they were short on numbers?
