I would agree. It will be a great experience for those kids

Mr. Vegas - It appears to me, this should be a break out year for the Griffins. I look for them to be in the mix come SLiac Tourney time. The third year into Coach Schaffer's system. With leadership and experience from the two Vegas kids All Conference PG Gentry and Demise. NOY Greenlee, Welch, Dourhauer and Rucker all got major time as Freshmen. Two transfers. Plus a big freshmen class that includes size and pedigree. The two players from your town played on a HS team ranked in the top 15 by USA Today. I would assume they will make an impact.

That is enough to be very competitive in the SLIAC. Plus Coach Schaffer has scheduled some winnable non - conference games to give this squad some confidence going into conference play. IMO

Hopefan - Did I give you the info you were asking for on Nov. 9th event? Doors open 6:30 game @ 7 pm.

I've never been to Concordia... I know you see the sign right on the main street......  next to Fontbonne....is my old buddy 'I'll never mention his name again' going to be playing?  Imagine we'll see all the others though.. Fogerty, Storandt, Fourney, McCoy, Forrest, ... I just might try to make it....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Fogerty, Storandt, McCoy, Sheetz and Melloway from that team. Chad Fournie is in a wedding, won't make it. Shame. He was in diapers and watching his Big Brother Dean, when that first game was played. Pederson Fieldhouse was FC's home court from '88 - '92. It also was the official practice facility for the NBA's St. Louis Hawks. A little trivia for you.

Back when I did a writeup on each of the SLIAC teams' non conference schedules, Eureka and Greenville were both one game short of 25 games.... Just noted BOTH have added that 25th game.. BOTH playing at D1 Western Illinois....  Eureka plays them on Nov. 21, Greenville has them on Nov 30.

So tough to do this because we have so little info on new faces....   Of course, anyone rating EC so high must have a GREAT DEAL of info on that set of new faces..  ;D ;D ;) ;)

or just blind allegiance and/or lots of HOPE--the reality is that EC is a huge mystery with all the new component parts.  I know it's early, but what the heck.  We can do modified predictions closer to opening tip off.  I was hoping this would spark some discussion.

I'm interested in Iowa Wesleyan.  I wonder what the move from NAIA will do--looking at their past performances on paper, they could be an immediate factor.

EC... here is what i wrote about Iowa Wesleyan in May as I previewed what was returning for each team...

It's not worth the effort to review the individuals listed as Seniors for Iowa Wesleyan as none of us can identify as to their abilities, not having seen them play... They were 14-13, though for some reason their stats reporting cut off at 23 games?  They were pretty good vs D3... losing close to Carthage and Aurora, and winning close over Central (Iowa) and MacMurray.... But virtually everyone is gone from that team so it really doesn't matter..They have only one full time player returning, Will Stephenson, a 6'2" frosh, who saw action in all 23 games reported and started in several... he averaged 14 minutes per game, 4.6 ppg....

Another player, Joe Lennon, a 6'6" frosh, played in 19 games, 10 minutes per game, and averaged just 1.4 ppg

Any other underclassmen appeared in only a couple of games and were not a part of the regular rotation....

Don't know what level all these kids will play at... one frosh who got in a couple games played at Pacific HS just down the road from me... averaged 10 ppg in a mediocre HS program....  doubtful he would be a game changer at any SLIAC school...

Spalding was immediately at the level of the upper half of SLIAC schools when they came in and recruiting remained solid through their provisional time frame... I'll be surprised, with all the graduation losses, if Iowa Wesleyan comes in at that level....

My concern about IWC is if this is the Head Coach that can build them as a DIII program. He is the 3rd Coach they have had since announcing their intentions to join the NCAA?

Something more meaningful to me would be something that ranked all the schools in one group... this doesn't show a Webster vs Fontbonne, a Prin vs Eureka etc.     I have a tremendous amount of respect for the SLIAC schools and the academic niche they serve.... well.. for the most part...

Yeah, there's no way meaningfully compare here and I'm not even going think about methodology, just kind of interesting to look at the raw numbers (even if we don't know exactly what they mean).

EC - Thanks for trying to keep the board busy. Slowest pre season chat I've seen on here.
