You guys are blowing my cover. Anyway, I enjoy Hope's insights into the D 3 "culture". Seriously, the SLIAC needs to hire you to do a blog. You have no hidden agendas, at least that I can figure out and therefore your observations are done on an honest basis. I am not and have never been a big FC fan. I have been around the STL BB scene for a long time and have just in the last decade started following any D3 programs. I was a big fan of the PHL (high school) back in the hey days of the 1960's and have followed JUCO ball since the late 50's, but it is now almost dead in STL. How many remember when Mo Bap was a JUCO? I have no insight info at FC. I do think they are now headed in the right direction and hopefully are bringing in kids who intend to stay for four years and to graduate.

Sorry for today's posts involving you. I was just honestly asking for your imput for this upcoming season. Maybe we will cross pathes on the HS circuit this year. You enjoy yourself another good season of roundball. It is a shame what has happened to the PHL. Maybe someday someone will put together a reunion of the past Greats. Folks would be surprised of the players who came out of that league. Good Health and Happiness.

Sorry but you earn a +1K

Well, you got her gender wrong, so you did need clarification.

I'll say it one more time, slowly. Your opinion is based on an anonymous User Name. Nothing more. If you choose to consider the User's gender as be female, that's strictly speculation on your part. Am I right? It would of been just fine for the purpose of the discussion if you just didn't interject. That's all I'm trying to say. It just seems to be your M.O.

For crying out loud, Denny, the fact that allamericanredhead is a woman is not "strictly speculation on [my] part." It's come up repeatedly in this room:

Good to see Dennis come back on board. This has not been a fun season. I for a couple of years followed Flo Valley, now they don't have a team. FC is horrible, although I do think the new coach is doing things the right way, so give him some slack. Webster just don't interest me. Too hard to find a place to park, at my age. I have "adopted" UMSL as the team hubby and I follow this year. They are finally worth watching.

FREE DENNIS!!

Keep up the good work Hope.

Not sure about the team record. But, Dad has spent some time listening from the locker room. A game at Anderson about 10 yrs ago, he and a player were gone in the first 45 seconds. One newspaper writer in Paragould, Ark referred to him as the "Billy Martin of Basketball". z was at last home game with a couple of Buddies, asked Mom after game how she was doing and she said fine but your officials are horrible. He said He thought they did a great job.

Did your wife work any of z's summer camp games at FC?
"

Wrong gender, but i know way to smart to be z's summer time slave.

Hey Hope. Thanks for the Mothers Day wishes. It was a great day.

I'll say it one more time, slowly: allamericanredhead is a woman. It's not my opinion. It's not speculation on my part. Short of having her take a chromosome test and post a picture of the results here, I don't know how else to prove it to you. Of course, you could just take her word for it and spare us all the trouble. ::)

Greg, Denny can be kinda slow sometimes. ;)

I hope he will stick around (lest the board become JUST hopefan talking to himself), but it is what it is.

I am a faithful reader, but have nothing really to contribute.  I suspect that Greg (and probably Titan Q) is/are the same way.

Denny, apparently everyone but you has been aware of AARH's gender for several years - you had a brain fart - forget it and move on!  Give us some SLIAC bball coverage. ;)

Sorry folks. It was my personal belief (from outside sources) that the gender was masked when the verbal attacks were intended for my father. Very few people knew details brought up about his past. It's just my opinion of the true poster (or posters). But, if you read the tone of my recent posts toward AARH, you can tell that is in the past and time does march on. I have very little to offer SLIAC wise. I've seen two games live with my friend Yjak in the past 2 yrs. The family is now following Little Brother's HS squad. I follow CCIW for Bryce Dolan (hometown kid) and there are a couple of kids of interest this year in the SLIAC. Other then that not much to offer.

 :) :) :) :)   ATTENTION    :) :) :) :) :)

SLU announced that if the Cardinals win game 6 tonight forcing a game 7 Thursday night, the SLU - Fontbonne game will be moved to 5:00 PM on Thursday...     good move.... will bring some fans to the game that likely would have gone home to watch the Cards.....

If the Cardinal lose Game 6... the Billikins and Griffs tip off at 7 PM Thursday...

Now, if the Billikins would just lower that admission fee, they'd likely get even more through the doors.....  $15 is a little steep to watch an exhibition game against a D3 team.....  I'll do it, but many won't....

Want to wish Coach Schaefer and the squad good luck tomorrow. I'm sure the team will play hard and give a great effort. I'm sure Coach Schaefer will let the kids know that the scoreboard is not the important take away. It's the experience of playing in the facility and in front of that kind of crowd. Hope all those dressed get the opportunity to get on the floor and body up with true DI athletes. They will walk away better for it.

Coach Crew's is not the type to embarrass the DIII kids. I remember a trip with MoBapt. To play in "The Pit" at New Mexico. It was a competitive first half. But, in the second half the game slowly gets out of hand. The environment though is something they will never forget.

Hopefan - Compared to a ticket to a movie theatre, $15 shouldn't deter anyone. I'm sure FU is picking up the tab for the students. And, for season ticket holders, it will be their first chance to watch the 2013-14 version of the their team. Should be a good crowd.

I know in '97 when FC was scheduled to play SLU at the Kiel Center (Savis or whatever it was called back then) the school had purchased 250 tickets for students, teachers, staff and family members. Shame the game had to be cancelled. We lost a great young man, Brian Kennedy, who died during practice two days before.

Go Griffins!!!!!

At least 3 SLIAC teams seemed to have posted Varsity only rosters... many of the others show all names but on only one roster, not indicating yet who made the varsity squad and who will start the season playing JV...

Greenville shows a Varsity Roster and JV roster.... there are some noticeable absenses.. Dan Anderson averaged 11 ppg last year as a Junior transfer and started most games does not return.. Eligibles Austin Potts and Tyler Mitchell both saw time off the bench last season and didn't come back... On the other hand, Tevin Rollins and Anthony Metzler, both of whom were relegated to JV midseason after being in the starting lineup early on, are both on the roster.. both are athletic and have nice size... glad they're back.. they both can make Greenville a better team.  Coac Barber recruited two 6'7 frosh.. Nick Tristo from Kentucky made the varsity, Jackson Ryan from Indiana starts out on the JV...

Blackburn shows one roster with 13 names... my thought is that's the whole team.... 5 frosh, 6 sophs, 2 juniors... very young.... Eligibles Brandon Hill and Diarra Cropper did not come back, both played significant time last year...

Westminster's roster seems to be split into a varsity and JV, though it's not specificly identified as such... Noticeable eligible missing is Robbie Burroughs, who was a sixth man last year...  even more shocking is Taylor Allen, who started in the middle last year, is not on the roster.. he was listed as a junior last season....  So the Jays start with 3 guys who played alot last year and a bunch of Sophs who saw virtually no floor time on the varsity as Frosh.... the last 5 or 6 years, it's been a given that Westmin was a top 4 SLIAC team, but it looks like Coach Mitchell has his work cut out for him this season....

Eureka, Webster, Mac, Fontbonne, and  Iowa Wesleyan all still have huge rosters that are not yet showing a split off to JV.....   Spalding has a nine man roster of upperclassmen, all recognizable names from last year's championship squad (likely holding off to decide on who else makes the squad).... Prin only shows last year's roster

Lots of people got to play last night for the Griffs... a couple of key people missing..injury?  A night to remember, and hopefully a learning experience that Coach can put to use for the regular season...

How did it end up?  Can we get a game report?

EC scrimmaged Carl Sandburg CC last Saturday.  EC raced out to a huge early lead, 19-0, and then that lead was slowly eroded, game ended a 10 pt. CSCC win.  Early indications are that Marious and Marquis Lobdell, Sam James, Seth Wickert, and Josh Fenoglia could be leaders for first rotation minutes.

Really good news out of Principia... Larry Patterson, a frosh who last year averaged 15 points per game in Prin's first 7 games, but sat out 2nd semester, has returned and is playing...  In addition, they did indeed get Justin Ball out of the Principia School in St Louis... Listed as 6'8", he averaged 16 ppg and 10rpg his sr year in hs..  Would imagine he'll start in the middle from day 1..   add Kenny Sydness, Damon Wilgus,  Matt Jones, and Dorian Watkins and you have a group that should be competitive... I'm betting the streak ends within the first two weeks of the season, and that Prin also gets a conference win or two this year.....

Hopefan no comments? Wow. All we get is a link, with no boxscore. Who were the players that are injured. Dallas Hayward had good stats. Is he a PG of the future? Grant Tucker, hit a 3pt. Is he a 6'8 wing? Jared Greenlee, how did he look? Or, Welch? How is FU's size? Did any newcomers impress you? I've never known you to attend an early season Sliac game and not give us an insightful take. Good Crowd? SMH ECredevil thanks for the scrimmage info. Sounds like Coach W has reloaded.

hopefan

Well Denny, there was a box score within the link  Guess that is how you got some of those stats... apology accepted...  Gentry and Dorauer did not play... I said injuries?in previous post.... Don't know for sure....
