Blackburn shoots 26% in losing by 50 to River Falls...  Advice, don't be in a tourney with the big boys for 'the experience'... not sure much is gained....

I'm really curious about this statement as you have always advocated for a tough non-conference schedule, seemingly regardless of how good a coach thinks his team might be, and also seem to think that FU playing SLU in an exhibition is a good experience. I realize that the latter example is a game that doesn't count and there is maybe some money involved for FU, so help me understand what you see as different about Blackburn facing some good teams to open the season. Are they better off than Principia who scheduled two much easier games and still got hammered in one an lost the other to a team that was 1-24 last year?

I guess my attitude would be for a medium to good team to play up is a good thing... but at a level like Blackburn, there would be little to gain...  Prin playing at IC at least gave a hint of competitiveness, and they knew they had Knox the 2nd day, BC at Wheaton SEEMED to offer no hope....BC had 11 points at half vs wheaton... they likely couldn't even start their offense...  the other thing about the Wheaton Tourney is that there were 3 very good teams.. there was no hope of anything but two blowouts....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Hopefan the only person who was taken to task was Coach Schaeffer. IMO

Okay, that explanation makes sense.

Right. But joevegas probably needs a little perspective, and I think you and hopefan helped provide that. I can feel his (?) disappointment in going online to watch the game and not getting to see the Vegas kids play. But I don't think their not playing qualifies as embarrasing for any person or school. Now, if the parents of the kids had traveled to Saint Louis only to have their sons sit on the bench, then I think there might be a legitimate reason to feel slighted. In that situation you probably give the kids some minutes regardless of where they are on the team's depth chart.

And teams like Prin and Blackburn can probably find someone to schedule that they'd be competitive with, but most of their choices involve scheduling "up". So it's just a question of  how far up.

Exactly... to get in a tourney with lower MWC, Nathcon teams makes sense.. to get in a tourney like BC was in doesn't make sense to me... to get beat by 15,20 can be  a learning experience... to lose by 50 accomplishes ????  what? just a demoralizing loss...

Good morning.. my surprise regarding Fontbonne was the change in personnel from the exhibition game vs SLU to the kids who got minutes last night.. I was curious whether injury, performance, etc was the cause....good to see Dorhauer back, I had heard knee problems which might have meant significant rehab time....

I won't take Joe Vegas to task, but Joe you're a long way from St Louis...no one can expect kids to step right in by 'arriving'....if they're good enough to play, they'll play... period

I just was saying Coach Schafer was the one taken to Task. In my opinion.

What shafer did to Gorman kids tonight just destroyed his recruiting ability in Vegas.   Several Gorman people watched the game on Internet in Vegas.  I must say it was not good to embarrass those kids in front of their friends.   Not sure about Jackson   He started at SLU game.

Guinn and tucker were suited and ready to play.  Gorman is a national basketball and football power located in Vegas.   In my opinion, u don't recruit kids from that school and sit them on bench.  But yes. Let's see what happens tomorrow.  Let's hope that fontbonne plays better tomorrow.  Not sure if is on Internet again.

Joevegas

Thanks guys. Lol.  I am a long way from fontbonne.  I did check with some people and yes the parents of the Vegas kids did make the trip to fontbonne

MObball41

I don't think a coach can consider whether a kid's parents are in attendance or not as a factor for playing time. That would not be fair to other players on the team.

Big congrats to the Westminster men's soccer team for advancing to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament!!!

Joevegas

In my opinion,  never let proven winners ride the pine.  Just my opinion.    How is fontbonne doing? Have they started yet

Denny McKinney

Rhodes 39-21 @ Half. Over FU. Not looking to good right now.

hopefan

I'm at Font, not much positive to say at half
