The Lobdells are still on the Eureka roster. But, given their peripatetic and disciplinary-action-plagued history, it would be a foolish move for anyone to bet on their continued presence on a team's roster.

Frankly, I'm relieved that whatever latest disruption in their careers has taken place took effect tonight. NPU badly needed this win.

Careful commenting without any info whatsoever.  Anyway, Lobdell-less EC actually plays well.  Wickert, Lincoln, and James have monster games, but EC gives back a 7 pt. second half lead.  Sam James hacked on a drive to the bucket at :07 but doesn't get call.

What I did see, however, was encouraging, am not really concerned at this point about the record.  Team played hard the entire second half, up-tempo and constantly attacking the basket.  Post defense continues to be a problem, but Josh Fenoglia will be a quality post in this conference and Parker Gibson has a huge upside as a 6' 6" 4 or 5--his development will be key for this squad going forward.

Unless something happens in the mean time, plan on making the GC v WIU game on Saturday night.  WIU down from last year, but not likely that far down.  Still a large size and speed gap jumping up 2 divisions.

I'm not "commenting" on their present status, other than to acknowledge that they're still on the Eureka roster. I'm simply stating that, given the history of the Lobdells (which has been well-chronicled in this room by others), they've never been a safe bet to remain Red Devils. FWIW, I hope that they do stick with the team and get their degrees from Eureka. But their track record is not a positive one.

I have no idea how you could identify that problem, given that NPU has, alas, no post offense. :(

The Loras beating two CCIW programs mystery deepens.  (Loras lost to Rockford)

First conference games coming up next week -- four on Wednesday, one on Thursday, four on Saturday. The Wednesday games have some likely top 4 teams playing each other and some not likely top 4 teams playing each other. Then there is mysterious Spalding vs Prin on Thursday, followed by some likely top 4 teams vs some not likely top 4 teams on Saturday. It should be an interesting week to see how teams fare relative to perceptions so far.

I find the two Webster games the most intriguing of the week...  Webster vs Greenville an early battle between two of the teams I view as Conference favorites along with Mac and Spalding....  and Fontbonne vs Webster, a game where Fontbonne has to grow up quickly and show they can be a factor in the conference race....

FU can't afford to look past BC wednesday night. BC gave Rockford (5-0) all they wanted and then some.

Also of interest are the two Iowa Wesleyan games hosting Westminster and playing Spalding at Fontbonne (at the same time Fontbonne is playing at Webster). Neither Westminster nor Spalding seem to be quite as good as they have been the past two or three years and we really know nothing about IWC. Much to be learned in this first week of conference games.

There are some interesting stats put up by BC players in Rockford game.
Chris Davis in 18 mins. took 17 shots had 16 rebounds, had 4 asst and 7 to's.
Jamie Moore in 20 mins took 19 shots, had 11 rebounds and 5 blocks.
WoW. Evan Wells in 7 mins went 6-11, plus 3 rebs, 5 ast and 4 blocks.

The Winner is: Tommy Ulinski from off the bench played 21 minutes. He went 7-13 fg, 4-6 3pt, 10-10 fts for 28 pts.

Blackburn takes Rockford 3 OT's. With Rockford shooting 19 more free throws. BC may be playing a different style of ball. Heck, try anything. Fontbonne needs to be ready to play.

Y jak it looks to me like the Top 4 teams may not be as good. Next 4 may be better. Then we had speculated.
