Huge game tonight Spalding at Webster... Webster needs to defend home court and slips into a testy position with a loss...  Spalding has little to lose, but moves into a very good position in their battle with Mac for First place if they win....  Then of course, another huge game on Saturday when Webster goes to Mac.....  Huge game for both teams

Hopefan is absolutely right; at the D3 level you build a program with mostly four year players with maybe an occasional JC player or transfer mixed in. If that means taking your lumps while the freshmen grow up, so be it.

And he didn't even mention the Lobdells. Why are we surprised that Eureka failed this season when they would take a chance on two players with their checkered pasts. It's one thing to give someone a second chance, but a third or fourth seems like a little too much.

Eureka is a neat town and the school has a terrific little gym. The Women's team is going great. I hope that the Men get it right next year.

Wow.. how Eureka has fallen... to lose to prevously winless BC by 37 is an embarrassment of epic proportions for a team that just last year was in a last second game in the conference tourney

As much as I abjectly hate emoticons, only one thing to do:   :'(

Now, as undoubted a nadir as this loss is, EC needs to use it as fuel, get angry, and come out swarming Westmin at home on Saturday.  Another beating like this makes the upcoming four game road swing a death march.

In other news, women's team is 12-4, 8-1--first NCAA trip ever???  I'm voting yes.  Westmin will give a nice challenge this weekend.

Joe, Denny.. let me throw this at you.. Fontbonne really only has players at two positions..

They have a bunch of 2 guards, none of whom are true point guards, and the guards are undersized (Dorhauer, Welch, Ettinger), and virtually everyone else is a 3 spot guy.. Greenlee and DeGeare aren't strong enough to be power forwards or big and wide enough to be in the middle, and Rucker at 6'2" isn't tall enough to dominate inside... these guys are talented enough to play out of position and beat weaker teams, but are 'tweeners' against better teams and then weaknesses show...

just a thought as to the lack of wins..

and Joe.. I still think Fontbonne gets 8 wins... 2 a piece against the bottom 4 of Prin, BC, IWC, and Eureka...
Thanks Hope. You filled in the missing pieces of my question.

Richie Dorhouer was the PG on a Great Vianney Team. Cochrane was the 2 guard on that team. Richie should have got time at the point last year.

Unbelievable comeback win for Webster over Spalding... Webster down 57-47 with 4:20 left scores last 11.. Hollis Edwards makes 2 free throws with 7 seconds left to put the Gorlocks ahead, Spalding doesn't get a good look and misses at the buzzer... hero was Hunter Ward, new to the Gorlocks this semester, with agreat fake from the perimeter and drive to the hoop to bring Webster within one at :39, then a sky high block of a layup attempt by William Barber at :18.. Webster recovered the ball, missed, but Jarrod Huskey rebounded and was fouled and went down hard, suffering what appeared to be a wrist/hand injury... Edwards shot and made the two winning fts... Spalding lost it with critical turnovers in last couple minutes, never getting to the line.. Webster did fantastic job on boards, outrebounding Spalding and getting almost all of their points in the paint....

Well well well, folks!  It's been quite some time but thought I'd make a return after watching my Gorloks come from behind win over Spalding tonight. Great W for Coach Bunch and my boys.  First game I've seen this season and don't have a lot to compare it to relative to the other teams, but I do like what I see from the Gorloks.  Several new guys in the rotation, so hopefully this team will continue to improve as the season progresses.  Anyhow, I hope to get to more games this year and stay relatively plugged in and post my thoughts from time to time.

That was just a flat out gutsy performance by the Gorloks last night. I don't think I've seen them play harder or want a game more all season. It's reminiscent of the Monmouth game where the final points they scored gave them the win and their only lead of the game. Last night they had first half leads but once they lost the lead late in the first half they never led again until Hollis made those two free throws to win. The difference in the two games is that Webster played with so much more energy, intensity and effort last night than they did against Monmouth. If they'd done the same against Monmouth they might not have played from behind the whole game. Also, Spalding is a better team than Monmouth.

I sure hope Hollis, and Ahmad, and Aaron are okay. Hollis and Ahmad obviously played through some pain and hopefully Aaron didn't reinjure the foot/ankle that kept him out the start of the season.

Yes Webster appeared to suffer several injuries last night... Yjack didn't mention Huskey, who left the game on the play I mentioned... The Gorlocks can't match up with MacMurray around the basket on Saturday if both Griffith and Huskey were to be unavailable... got my fingers crossed... if everyone healthy, it should be a very intense game.....

With the excitement of the Webster-Spalding outcome, should not overlook the fantastic game Verdis Lee had last night in Westmin's win over Prin..   he goes 13-16 from the field for 32 points

Wow! That's a major decision -- no pun intended -- that is pretty risky to take. I can see cutting pre-law, but sociology and history????

Precisely the reason why I would never attend a school with an enrollment of 600.  A school of that size is always suceptible to making major changes based on money.  Sucks for the kids effected by it.
