Hopefan standings after Saturday's games

Mac +2   wins at top5 Westmin, at top 5 Greenville

Spalding  +1  win at top 5 Westminster

Greenville -1  loss at home to top 5 Mac

Webster   -1  loss to bottom 5 Eureka

Westminster  -2  losses at home to top 5 Spalding and MacMurray

Only 1 top 5 matchup this week ... Greenville plays at Mac on Saturday... If this is going to be a real horserace, we gotta be pushing for Greenville... on the other hand, if it's a 2 horse race between Spalding and Mac, I'd much rather take the shorter trip to Mac for the conference tourney than revisiting Louisville....

A short take on Webster vs Mac yesterday... Webster dominated 1st half, but big comeback by Mac in last 2-3 minutes cut the lead to 3 at half... Webster turnovers gave Mac the lead in the 2nd half, and Webster missed several critical shots in the last several minutes that would have cut the margin to 2 or 3...Mac does a great job getting to the line and making free throws to keep the game out of reach in the last minutes....

Controversial statement from hopefan... does Ahmad Smith have to be the go to guy in every critical possession Webster has... I'm personally tiring of seeing off balance fadeaways in these minutes that haven't gone in all season...there are other viable options, especially with the emergence of Hunter Ward and Frosh Jonathon Odjo.. if everyone goes to Smith, someone else has to be open...

- 10  ???  ???  ???

Multiple Choice

a) days until hopefan and Ms have a baby
b) days until hopefan announced as new coach of SLIAC team
c)  days hopefan has to live
d)  days until hopefan retires

I would think the correct answer is obvious   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

What's the prediction for Fontbonnes two games this week?

Denny McKinney

Joe- it should be a 2-0 week. But, Prin has enough to win one at home.

Congrats hopefan on the upcoming retirement.  Means more time to scout out SLIAC basketball.  Maybe you'll be able to branch out into some other sports as well now that you'll have all kinds of time on your hands.  :-)

To the question from Joevegas about Fontbonne's games this week.  You'd have to expect them to be competitive based upon the standings but I'm amazed at the inconsistency of Fontbonne's play.  Really depends upon which team shows up that night.

Can anyone explain the SLIAC schedule this year?  It used to make sense when looking at the way it was laid out but now it seems like someone just drew the games out of a hat.  Just curious.

2-0 !!!!!!  I think Fontbonne's depth wins it for them... both Eureka and Prin have a couple players, but not 7 or 8 like Fontbonne does....   However, Fontbonne can't 'goof around' in either, or they could get beat....    Surprisingly, I may attend both...will not have the time to go up to Mac to see Greenville at Mac due to a Saturday evening obligation....

Congratulations to Hopefan.

As he'll find out, being retired is a pretty good way of life, especially if you play golf.

I wonder if Mrs. Hopefan is going to retire too. She is a pretty special lady and Hopefan definitely overachieved.

Spalding University sits at 9-1. The schedule shows they have. vs Prin, @ IWC, vs EC, vs BC. That gets them thru 2/15. Then they welcome Webster to Louisville. They should be 13-1 going into the Webster game. And, that's time for others to play each other. Might be Louisville, Again.

As for as the FU at Principia game. Not much experience on FU playing a nite game on the Bluffs and in a gym known to be the worst shooting environment League. If Patterson and Wilgus get Hot at Home against FU's zone. Syndess will get his and PC's Big Man can keep the paint honest.

Can't believe I'm looking at a PC game this much. I have seen strange things happen up there. Ask Millikin. 8-)

And your so right Coach. Hopefan hit the lottery.

Mrs retired 6 months ago but visits the facility 3-4 times per week to visit her dad...She has a basement project for hopefan that should keep him busy for quite awhile... ::) ::) ::)
