Sorry I missed that story the first time it went around -- that is indeed amazing. Does he have eligibility left?

You'd want to check with the Webster coaching staff, of course, but throughout the season he has been listed as a sophomore.

hopefan

to my knowledge he has two years of eligibility left.... he was also MOP of SLIAC Tourney... this kid played SO  HARD vs Spalding ... very impressive
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Pat I only bring you quality info. I choose worth while things to bring to your attention. Your site has been good to the SLIAC. Starting with having Coach Quigley on your show back in '00.

The Miller story illustrates one of the beauties of D2 and D3 basketball; the players don't have the 5 year rule to contend with. Often it takes a kid some time to grow up, or to find his place.

When I was coaching at UMSL we recruited a very good player in 1983, Clarence Ward, from Columbus, OH. He was just 17 and only played one year, but long enough to lose his airplane ticket on our trip to South Carolina and UNC-Charlotte. He bounced around after that, was a JUCO all-American, played at the University of Idaho, and had one semester of eligibility left when we re-recruited him from Columbus where he was working. He played great the second semester of that season (1990-91) coming off the bench averaging in double figures, and helped us to a 22-6 record. He graduated nine years after he started and has had a very successful career in the Hazelwood School System.

Miller appears to be headed in the same direction.

That may be true in the SLIAC, hopefan, but it's not true in the CCIW -- especially in November and December, when the league's teams aren't necessarily playing on the same night and it's therefore possible for coaches to sneak a peek at their January and February competition (or at a future non-conference foe that happens to be playing in another CCIW gym that night).

Go to any CCIW gym during a non-conference game when there are teams in the league that have an open date that night, and you'll see coaches up in the top row of the stands taking notes.

Pat- Kudos. Your style of PC becomes you. And, doesn't come off as an effort to be PC. Pat you have never made me ill. You need to check out WU's Miller's story. I wudn't steer ya wrong. :)

This is the story Denny is referring to: http://websterjournal.com/2013/12/04/webster-university-mens-basketball-player-returns-to-the-court-after-four-year-absence/

Denny's right on this one... this is one of the D3 stories of the year... thanks for posting the link yjack

Just glad I was able to find it. And that was from December. There's more to the story now as he led the team in rebounding, was 2nd in points per game and was first team all SLIAC -- and SLIAC tourney MVP.

That is a great story. Thanks for posting the link, y_jack.

Very true on both points.

Has anyone looked and seen how Webster might match up with St. Norbert on a neutral site. #Whynotwebster

I like it, Denny!

Bunchtime. You get it. Till the opening tip we can be planning all options. But, after tip off WU is still from the SLIAC. But, hey Webster can Dance Till they get eliminated. So I'm just looking ahead and enjoy the fun.

But, BT? I know you've seen and been in those games. You know how it is when the first one doesn't drop. And, the second goes all the way down and back out. And the third........ and you just can't believe what your watching. Then you wake up and Bryce Dolan goes 8-8 from Downtown. And, I'm high fiving everyone. And, some where between I keep asking, "Why not Webster?

It is even fun watching someone else go thru it now. I picked WU to win it all back in December (before Griffin came back and didn't even know about Ward). I said they would not go to Wash U. Bunchtime I'm on a roll and I'm rolling sevens. #Whynotwebster?

I haven't seen it mentioned. But, Wilmington sent to Wash U, Webster to IWU and doesn't WC have a DI win this year. Was it @ Miami (OH.)? WU and WC kinda look similar looking at records overall and conference. But, one of those 19 wins WC has is a DI win. I found that interesting. And, maybe useless.  :o ??? ;D

#Whynotohiowesleyan: don't you go disrespecting the Battling Bishops! :o

While I expect a St. Norbert @ IWU final, an all Wesleyan final is more probable than a Webster/St. Norbert final.

On the other hand, this IS the SLIAC page - carry on! ;D

Denny McKinney

Mr. Ypsi - would care to tackle the question? Why not Webster? I was just looking at the comparison in rankings. Do disrespect to OWU. Peaking ahead to the higher seed. Someone in the SLIAC has to crash the Dance sooner or later. Why Not Webster? The vaunted #2 vs #15 match up.
