It'll be interesting to see if the Titans advance tonight!  I'm pulling for them.  If for nothing else to say Webster was beating a [an elite 8 team / a final 4 team / a national champion] in the final 10 seconds of the 1st round game!

Agreed Buncher.. I hope they go all the way, and I hope they win each of 5 games by double digits....and when preseason Top 25 votes take place next year, I hope voters remember who gave the Titans their toughest game, and note how much Webster has coming back and the Gorloks get some recognition....  IWU beating Dickinson 53-39 at this time...

Welp, so far, our Gorloks were the toughest challenge for the Final 4 bound Titans!

Despite a variety of upsets, pretty decent Final Four... IWU, UWW, Williams, Amherst....

In 2008-2009, as I know you remember, Washington University had to play Wheaton and St. Thomas in the Bracket of Death or Pod of Death or whatever, but their toughest game came in the first round against Lawrence in Elmhurst.  The Vikings finished the season ranked but did not get much love the following year, though probably because they lost a couple of senior starters.

I would love to see Webster ranked, or at least getting votes.

Won't happen pre-season. Maybe if they get to 15-0 they'll start to get some votes.

IF IWU goes all the way (or even to the title game), agree that Webster may get some attention next year (with their minimal losses); also agree that it won't likely happen pre-season (just too much 'bad conference' baggage).  But don't think it would take 15-0; even 7-0, or 10-1 (with a very solid loss) might well do it - not necessarily IN the top 25, but getting votes.

What would be most crucial, however, is actually winning game(s) in the tournament next year.  Which has been nearly impossible, as you generally have to face a #1 seed.  Win a game or two, and the next SLIAC team (especially if it were Webster again) might get to go against a #2 or #3 seed.

This is precisely the thing the posters on the ODAC football board have been saying for several years. So last fall Hampden-Sydney won a first round football game and played highly ranked Linfield really tough in the 2nd round. With what the H-SC football team has coming back next year they might get some attention in the pre-season poll.

It may be impossible, but Westminster, Spalding, and Webster have been so close in three of the last four years.  It has to happen eventually.  I am not sure that any of those games were against the No. 1 seed, though one of them should have been.

I apologize, but I have no memory of the SLIAC in the tourney from two years ago.

15-0 may prove necessary for the Top 25 depending on the schedule.

I must admit you guys are being realistic... I just haven't shaken this touch of Gorlokian fever that came over me last Friday night.... ::) ::) ::)

The ODAC in football is a middle of the pack conference, though. The SLIAC is coming from much further back.

Getting to 15-0 would certainly be nice but 14-1, 13-2, 12-3 against the right schedule can be Top 25-worthy as well.

I will point out that Webster could easily have been 8-1 during the first semester this past season rather than the 5-4 they actually were... missing Hunter Ward and Aaron Griffin in all 4 losses.... I'll take the loss to Missouri S&T, but with those two, I think the Gorlocks handle Elmhurst, Rust, and Eureka.... Given that, Webster COULD have finished 23-5... Will be interesting to see Webster's schedule next year.. in the past, Webster had Very Good, high quality non conference schedules, but this season, it turned a little soft....
