I checked out the other SLIAC school sites after reading Y jack's post that Webster's schedule was up... not much out there yet.. BUT

Yjack didn't mention but the Webster games with Mt. Mercy and Millikin are in a tourney at Webster on the 2nd weekend of the season... MacMurray is the other SLIAC team....  and in a scheduling fluke, Mac comes back down to Webster to play the SLIAC opener several days later

Greenville is the only other school to have their schedule up... and it shows they are playing in a tourney up at Elmhurst, vs Millikin and Elmhurst, with Westminster being the other SLIAC team.... that is on the first weekend of the season... Greenville also plays D3 Dominican and 4 non-D3 games (ugh) against Lindenwood Belleville, Lincoln Christian, McKendree, and Western Illinois.
The WONDERFUL thing about the Greenville site is that they have again put up biographies of their 2014 'commits'... 7 incoming recruits are highlighted, one from California junior college ranks... all have pretty decent numbers, though you can never tell what level of hoops the respective high schools played... some nice size, it seems to be a well rounded class....

Principia's page has a glowing writeup about a recruit from Texas... All District on a team that went 26-2... no other numbers were presented, but Prin loses much of their squad to graduation, so it would appear this young man will see time immediately...

Nothing on any of the other SLIAC school pages....

Do you think it's a scheduling fluke or do you think the coaches might like the idea, and even have wanted it that way, given that they will have just seen each other play a couple of times? Greenville's second SLIAC game is against Westminster on 12/6, so not long after those two teams will have seen each other play.

I don't think, though I'm not certain, that individual schools schedule their SLIAC Conference games... I believe that comes from the Commish... then schools add in non conference dates.... but Mac returning to Webster's court right after being there for the weekend is kinda 'flukey'... I'm sure Mac would have preferred to open the conference season with anybody other than Webster, just to get their feet wet before playing the likely conference favorite.

The most bizarre piece of info I heard this morning... someone with some money is supporting a matchup next season between Fontbonne and Wash U...... in a single game (not a tourney).... in California!!!!!!

I believe plans for a game in Cali started last year. One of the Wash U players have ties to the Golden State Warriors. Thought I heard it was going to be FU and Wash U playing two Cali opponents. Nice. And, it would of been a game on the schedule, anyway.

Incidentally.. Coach Hall does not share the pessimistic outlook for Fontbonne in general that have been expressed by some of our writers.... let's hope he's right...

Well, if a freshmen class of 85 doesn't make you pessimistic, he is in the right place. :)

I come away from my meeting with Coach Hall very open to supporting his efforts fully, and hoping that he can bring a winning record back to Fontbonne hoops

Does not sound as glowing as your thoughts on FU's last hire?

Like Webster, Wash U's new AD is also from the WIAC:  https://bearsports.prestosports.com/general/2013-14/Whitman-AD

IMO. Two very good hires, yjak.

Could Not disagree more. Mac has to play at WU sometime. What better time is there then after a weekend of two games and a shoot around and get right back in the same gym. Shooter's best case scenario. Plus You and your team just watched WU play the same two teams as you. I strongly feel this is an advantage Mac. Still doesn't mean a win.

Players I've heard about for SLIAC. I'll allow the school to post particulars. Westminster get's a 6'9+ kid. Probably 6'10 by season. Great size. Filled out but not the type to get heavy. Saw him play several times. Would love to have a kid like this coming in. With desire and work, think Justin Storandt.

Every SLIAC team, but maybe Webster, could hope for one win out of those 4. If LC is on the road? Tough game some years. Good competition and look at the location of games. Good for budget reasons.

Fontbonne a frosh class of 85?    Denny if you are right, that is scarey .....  If that is wrong, the statement should be corrected... heck, if 85 is right, they ALL better be athletes in some sport, because that is hardly enough to go around to the 17 sports Fontbonne offers....

I attended presentations by the finalists. They also had assistants from a Big 10 school and a CCIW school on-campus.  I really like this hire.

There will surely be know "getting to know you" period between Websters' new AD Scott Kilgallon from UW Eau Claire and Wash U's Josh Whitman from UW La Crosse.

Hopefan the week of SLIAC Banquet I heard 60 and another source gave an updated number of 85. I would guess with a big push it will finish 85 - 125. What does that compute to after retention avgs.? Sad.

I was there in the 'Heyday'. 140-170 freshmen student athletes a year.

The problem is that FU is trying to be, something it was never intended to be. Shame. They had their niche'.

Very true. It is quite the coincidence that two WIAC athletic directors are moving to St. Louis with only five miles between the institutions. I know nothing of Kilgallon, but I have to think that was a big time hire.

I'll ask the dumb question... when 85 was the number, did it mean 85 freshmen, or 85 freshmen student athletes?the original post said 'a freshman class of 85'...

I would like to think I am being more realistic than pessimistic.  Fontbonne will definitely enroll more than 85 freshmen, along with a sizable number of transfers--many of which are non-traditional students.  Fontbonne will not know the final number until the day before classes begin.

WUH - If you read my post, I estimated 85-125 for FU's freshmen class. That's half the size of past classes, even giving them 125.

No, I don't think there will be a "sizable" number of transfers. Over the past 5-6 years packages for transfers have been horrible.

And, your last comment is obvious. I have been thru a lot of years of enrollment numbers. But, you seem to be confidant with your info. So I will defer further discussion to you.  :-X
