That's right. If you go back a page or two and carefully read the article I posted it also says Webster paid for much of that change from grass to turf, plus a nice new scoreboard for the main field that has the most stands.

What the heck, I'll save you the trouble: "In the case of Soccer Park, Webster entered into a 15-year lease with Scott Gallagher Soccer Club the current owners of the Soccer Park. Webster has agreed to pay $600,000 over the 15-year lease in addition to between $500,000 and $1 million that the university paid for renovations of the Soccer Park — including new field turf — in 2012."

Oh, and so I won't get in trouble, I'm looking forward to the start of Gorlok basketball because they play d3HOOPS.  ;D

I know this isn't about basketball, but I just want to say that I heard from a reliable source, who heard it from an even more reliable source, that the part in bold above is not accurate.

Fontbonne loses down at SE Missouri 103-61

Positives in the box score:

Point Guard Greg Gentry has a big time game...  14 points, 7 assists, only 1 turnover in 29 minutes... only negative is 3 for 7 from the line.. Gentry could get to the line a lot this year... he needs to discipline himself at the line rather than being 'loosey-goosey'... This performance against D1 is indicative of his potential level of play throughout the SLIAC season..

Frosh big man Colin Schirmir maintains the level of play he showed against RMU Springfield... 10 points, 5 boards in 18 minutes..

Coach Hall started the 5 who played well in the first exhibition... Gentry, Schirmir, Rucker, McDowell, and Evan Johnson...Dorhauer, Lake, Bakis will be key off the bench

Question.. when will Greenlee and Kissing be ready to play?

Denny, I hope you have a speedy and complete recovery!

Thanks for the well wishes. It's halftime. I got till Dec.5th surgery to get myself stronger. Then I will have to wear a bag for 8 weeks while my colon heals. It's what I need to do. I hope it gets me 18 more years, like Dad.

Thanks to the change in laws, I was finally able to buy Healthcare. It had been since '01 for my last colonoscopy. I missed catching it earlier. But, I didn't Bankrupt my entire family and I'm getting thru this before they Repeal my insurance. I can't tell you how important early detection is to survival chances. There are cancers now that we can beat. If caught early. Know your family history!

Yjak. FU had to make a similar comittment with the City of Clayton to obtain playing fields. It wasn't the kind of money spoke about hear. Clayton HS and FU are partners on these facilities. Maybe Webster should consider the same.

Denny McKinney

Hopefan, Do you think FU can get a split this weekend?

Denny, Truth be told, I have my doubts....  SLIAC teams have not fared well on that trip to Memphis...
BUT, I am hoping for a Griff win, or two.

As I had mentioned, my plans were to go up to Elmhurst to see Greenville and Westmin... unfortunately. a family member, my wife's Dad, 91 years old, is on hospice in what would seem to be his final days... he's had a wonderful life, and we've enjoyed helping him through his last 7 years as he moved from out east to be with us....

Best of luck to ALL SLIAC teams as the season opens...

Sorry to hear Hopefan. 91, Wow what a wonderful life. So happy he got these years with family. Prayers to him and the family. I hate the word Hospice. Not enough Karma points will help.

I know this is a SLIAC basketball thread, but since the season has not yet started and because there is no other forum for SLIAC sports, let me say best of luck to the SLIAC teams competing in NCAA tournament games this weekend.

Webster University Volleyball takes on Emory on Friday afternoon.  That match will be played at Washington University for those who are interested: http://bearsports.wustl.edu/sports/wvball/2014-15/releases/20141110h9e237

Webster University Women's Soccer takes on the University of Chicago in Hyde Park: http://athletics.uchicago.edu/sports/wsoc/2014-15/releases/20141110al3fyv

Westminster College Men's Soccer takes on Loras in Dubuque: http://news.westminster-mo.edu/athletics/ms-ncaa-tournament-1/

Good Luck this weekend to All the Sliac Teams.

Spalding falls in season opener to Oglethorpe, 79-67.  Spalding jumped off to an 8 - 0 lead, but Oglethorpe dominated the rest of the way, leading by 13 at half... closest Spalding got in the 2nd half was 9...

Box score shows the returning back court of Spalding had a tough shooting night with Brandon Goeing hitting 5 for 15, 3 of 9 from 3's, and Brandon Gabriel hitting 3-11.. Gabriel had 6 assists vs 2 turnovers.   Returning big man Renaldo Moore had 16 points, but only 1 rebound.. frosh Jametrus Moore came off the bench for 8 points and 10 rebounds..

Spalding was even with Oglethorpe on the boards, Free throws were even, and each team only had 10 turnovers, but shooting beat Spalding.. They shot 36% from the field, but allowed Oglethorpe to shoot 56%.

All in all a pretty decent effort from a relatively inexperienced Spalding team against a solid Oglethorpe unit...

I see that Spalding lost to Oglethorpe 79-67. A battle of birds -- Stormy Petrels over Golden Eagles.

Good luck to the other SLIAC teams today. Webster, this time please don't wait until there are four seconds left to take a lead over Monmouth, and win this one going away.

Let's hope all the names missing from Webster's exhibition game are ready to go tonight...
