Ahmad Smith goes for 40. Or, Mac wins Big conference road opener. Webster has found themselves very very Short handed. (pun)

I've never paid a lot of attention to the number of steals a team gets in a game, but it sure seemed like Webster got more than14 tonight, and it didn't seem like MacMurray got 8. A good win for Webster. Mac had a lot of trouble with the zone.

Webster zone just dominates.... not the Mac we saw last weekend... 20 turnovers, negligible contribution from key players...  I thought this game would be close, it never was....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

If Coach Bunch hadn't taken pity on Mac tonight the Gorloks would've won this one by 50.  Against a truly big team such as UTD last weekend Webster may struggle but it was obvious tonight against Mac that the speed Webster has is simply to much for most teams to handle.

It wasn't just size that helped UTD, they also knew how to attack the zone with quick passing to get open shots and their guys hit those threes (14-26) while making only 10 two pointers. UTD had some difficulty penetrating the zone, but they were also a very tough defensive team. The Gorloks seldom got close to the basket and only made 6 of 22 three pointers.

As of today Iowa Wesleyan is the only undefeated SLIAC men's team having defeated Central Christian (MO),  Ozark Christian College, and Faith Baptist Bible. On Tuesday they play Knox, who Webster defeated by 19 points. After Tuesday we should have a better sense of what Iowa Wesleyan is really like.

Knox beats Iowa Wesleyan 93-76. Now we know a little more about what kind of team IWC is. Millikin beats Principia 76-63. Apparently not quite the same run and gun affair that the MacMurray-Millikin game turned into. North Park beats Eureka 77-66 and Greenville clobbers Lincoln Christian 104-43.

Along with how easily Webster dispatched Mac, the Prin effort vs Millikin rates as the biggest surprise of last night... Prin was AHEAD of Millikin with 10 minutes left in the game!!!!  And we know Millikin played relatively level with Webster and Mac....

So, in the comparative scores mean nothing department, Webster beats Millikin by 13 and Millikin beats Mac by 14, which means Webster should have beaten Mac by 27, not 22.  :)

Thanks for the Link, Yjak. I look for the FU Ladies to surprise people. Coach Sias is a Winner. Colin Schirmer will be a scratch in tomorrows Wash U game, in Cali.

Surgery for me next week. I guess I will entertain myself in the hospital with some of the streaming games.

Good Luck to the Sliac teams.

Wash U beats Carthage 84-49.... Fontbonne plays Wash U tomorrow night.... GULP

Wow!  Having been spoiled by IWU (and Hope) attendance numbers, I'm always surprised to note that most teams only average a couple of hundred.  But I don't recall EVER seeing an attendance of 20!

In one of the better comebacks I've ever seen Webster went down by 16 to Loras at the 3:32 mark.  Hunter Ward made a 3 at 3:04 to cut it to 13 and then proceeded to make 3 more including the game tying one with :17 left to tie up the game.  Webster finally went on to win 92-88 in OT.
