#13020
Looks like MacMurray couldn't keep up with #13 Centre, losing 70-48.

Spalding beats Eureka 70-62 at Spalding.

Westminster loses to D2 Maryville 72-56.

Looks to me like a three horse race. WU, Mac and GC. Then the leader of the rest WC, SU. It may not be the best Sliac teams, but maybe the most balanced competition.

WUH - 5 starters in double figures is not that rare.

I am not sure that I said that.  My fourteen month old has been using my phone to post to Facebook, and he was looking at d3boards.com the other day, but I am not sure he would have said that either.

I think yesterday was the third or fourth time this season that Washington University had all five starters in double figures.

I'll take credit for that comment!!!! ;) ;)
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I am spending a few lazy Sunday minutes on Massey and noticed that Central dropped down to No. 74 while Webster is up to No. 127.  For reference, Webster finished No. 135 last season.  Greenville is the next team in line at No. 160 followed by Spalding at No. 182.

Well, a small sample size, but I checked thru all SLIAC boxes to date... SLIAC teams have done it only twice this year...  MacMurray in their OT loss to Millikin, and Webster in their OT win over Loras... interesting that it hasn't yet been done in a regulation 40 minute game.

I do not want to disparage the SLIAC, but I would say that twice in 61 games qualifies as rare.

Interesting about double figures. Is the discussion limited to starters, or is it worth putting non-starters into the conversation as well to count how many total players on a team score in double figures in a game? Outside the SLIAC there are teams with deeper benches and more scoring threats so I'd venture to say it happens a bit more often elsewhere. But within the SLIAC twice in 61 games does qualify as rare. But I count that SLIAC teams have played a total of 88games, so that makes it even more rare.

Well I know of two different set of FC squads that had 4 players avg in mid teens or higher. And, was not uncommon at all to see the 5th put up 10+.

But that was then. Might be a lot harder now.

No.. my test was on all 5 STARTERS going for double figures... there may have been one or 2 games where 3 or 4 starters hit double figures, along wit a bench player or 2... (in high scoring wins or games against Christian Schools or Grinnell for example)....

Denny, I went through the Fontbonne 2007-08 boxes, and surprisingly they never had 5 starters hit double figures in a game.... close several times, but never all five.... Forgot McCoy went for 44 against Prin that year...13 for 20 from 3's, a SLIAC record...

Could be a change in coaching philosophies. Sliac used to have a HC who told a room of HS coaches that "defense was highly over rated. I'm going to score 80. So all I need is a few defensive speed bumps, to Win."  ;D

Curious. What was Coe's Massey Rating?

Hope I was thinking of the '09 team.

Hope '08 was the year Fournie was the "Speed Bump". Haha

My favorite Fontbonne player... what a tough kid... who knew why he was out on the floor...

WUH, how did you find this score?  It wasn't on D3hoops or the SLIAC site, but after seeing what you wrote, I did read about it on Truman site...

I graduated from Truman so I follow Truman and the GLVC closely.  I was surprised not to see the game listed on the Iowa Wesleyan website.

Thanks to IWC and the SLIAC office for solving the mystery of the IWC-Truman game... it was considered a JV game for some 'sketchy' reasons....therefore not considered an official D3 or SLIAC game... though Truman seems to recognize it as a real game....
