Watching the updates last nite I mentioned the 2007 tournament. It was easy to think back to that time and the feeling of the event. that year you had 3 of the same teams. Webster's team of Scott Spinner and Darrin Hoggat. Mac with Jarel Robertson, Farrid Coleman and Seth Whalen. And then EC with Roy Tarpley, JR Richards and Darrnell.

This is for the boards old timers. How do you think those teams compare with the current group? That year the crowd was treated to an OT thriller between EC and FU for the Championship. Hope tonites game is just as exciting.

NO comparison.... as has been the theme most of the year, it's simply a down year for the SLIAC.... I mean, Bless the Griffs and Spalding for being in the final, and it was exciting hoops in both semis, but no, these teams don't measure up to some of the better ones of the past (in my mind).

Congrats to Spalding for winning the SLIAC Men's Tourney...  SU 57-51

No offense whatsoever to SLIAC CO-Coaches of the Year Todd Creal of Mac and Alex Huisman of Iowa Wesleyan, but my Co-coach of the Year vote 3 weeks ago, and the same tonight, goes to Coach Gray of Spalding for winning the Conference with a significantly reduced talent level vs prior Spalding teams, and to Coach Hall of Fontbonne, for taking the same guys that had basically played unspirited, lost sheep basketball last year and turning them into Championship contenders this season.

But then, once again, my vote didn't count....

Hey, how many days til October 15, 2015?
