Agree with Denny on the # of JUCO transfers being a product of increasing tuition rates, until something is done that brings those rates to a more affordable rate the trend should only continue.

Haven't seen it in person, but can't say I'm a fan of my alma mater running the system.  To me it always has and always been a gimmick that is not successful on the big stage.

On the side of argument it's not like any SLIAC team has been on the big stage previously, so there is that.

I think Denny and GC Panther are right. But I don't think it applies universally. I follow the ODAC (all private schools in Virginia except one in NC) because I am an alum of one of those schools, and I'm not aware of those schools having the same quantity of JUCO transfers like we are talking about being in the SLIAC right now.

Conference games begin first week of December, but after seeing GC last night, I put my imagination to work as to how GC's system would work against the various SLIAC teams.  No SLIAC team has the basketball Mentality, maturity that IWU has... I see the system having a tremendous impact vs SLIAC teams.. if Greenville  shoots a little better than last night, and not  foul as much as they did... the pace and pressure will be totally new for SLIAC teams to go up against...

Try it GC01... you might like it..

Yjak, I remember the president of R-M addressing the growing burden. In an article you sent me a few years back. I don't see any of our schools taking those same steps. He was a very insightful read.

Denny McKinney

Well the positive from FU - UMSL, was FU's big man Smith got a little time. And, no limp.

From prince to a pauper.. Fontbonne, Spalding, Iowa Wesleyan all lose... But I had a wonderful night out with my wife on our 43rd anniversary...

To SLIAC games the next 6 nights!!!!

Congrats Hopefan. You ought to take the Love of your Life on a SLIAC games road trip. Hotel prices aren't to bad if you book online. She could visit the Spa while your at the games. Good quality time. Plus, some conversation beats books on tape.

Over to Principia tonight.... looking forward to seeing Adaku Anumu play...25 and 7 vs Illinois College, 29 and 4 vs Maryville....  this was the addition that Prin needed to the already formidable foursome of Ball, Davidson, Patterson and Ross... also notable is improvement from Joey Sander, only one TO in two games, 6 pts 5 assists vs Illinois College.. that's the kind of role playing that will really help the team over the season....

Who would have thought that after less than one week in the season, the game I'm most looking forward to seeing  is Prin vs Greenville...that first matchup doesn't happen until Jan.12... of course, much can change in that time span....

Prin win 68 64 over Loras. Ugly, but exciting lead switched many times.

Mr. Ypsi

I'm gonna be fascinated to see what Greenville can do against SLIAC opponents.  They are obviously not very good at The System yet (IWU didn't know until tip-off that they had gone that way, and still put up 150 on them with no prep whatsoever), but it can be quite an equalizer against less talented teams (Grinnell has had a fair amount of success in their conference, but less in the play-offs - IWU's previous all-time record was 132 [vs. 91] against Grinnell in the 2001 tourney).

One astute Titan fan thought they had the talents to do quite well with it.  With some experience I suspect Greenville may wreak a bit of havoc in the SLIAC.  I'll be quite intrigued to see which teams get burned and which can blow them out. :)

You got your chance to kick a Dead man on a public forum. Must be satisfying. You want to take a shot a me? Fine! To come on here a rip my Dad and hide behind a users name is just sick. Why don't you get a Life. Your pitiful. The only thing you have ever contributed to this site are personal attacks. I'm  not going to waste my time responding to a stalker, again. Try being a human being for a change you troll. But, this site will keep letting you get away with it you coward. God has made it possible for me to beat Cancer. And, it wasn't to waste time feeding your illness.

Nothing you said was true. But, I guess your personal attacks adds posts to this page. That's all that matters. I will pray for you though. God knows somebody needs to.
Dennis, Dennis Dennis   Get those big boy panties on. All I said was the only SLIAC school I have been around much was FC. And Lee never used his JV for anything other than bringing enrollment $$$ into the university. That is why D3 schools have JV programs. That is not knocking Lee. I am sure he was like most D3 coaches, pressured by the admissions people to bring in a lot of kids. Maybe some D3 s do use JV as a farm system type development program, but FC never did. I heard Lee say several times he had no interest in the kids playing down there. Now if he told the parents or players something different I don't know. So, this nonsense you were spouting about how its worth the cost to wear that jersey with good old FC on the front is total bull hockey. Hell, with Lee, the varsity was not even a development for the varsity. FC was well known for their mid year transfers. That one year four new starters first game of second semester and they had only practiced once or twice. And the team was like 8-2!! That is all true Dennis, not saying its right. Not saying its wrong, just saying it happened. I was a JUCO fan for many years. Also liked the NAIA and saw a lot of games of Lee before FC, at MO Bap. Remember when MO Bap was a JC. Now that is going back farther than 99% on here can. Remember in the JC days MO Bap had a star names Marvin Neals. He is now in his 70's. Getting the drift. For all you know I might have changed your dirty drawers ;D  Anyway, no way am I slamming dad and sure don't need you praying for my soul. And to think I asked about you publishing your book on here. Will buy a copy someday I hope. Which brings me to the end. Hope, keep up the good work. and the rest of you, this board is as alive now as it has been for a few years.  :)

Never knew MoBapt was a JC. Never cared. He went there in '78. I was a Jr in college @ SEMO. And, unless you traveled to Quiln HS in the bootheel to watch Lee coach you never knew me in diaper days. Any, thing of interest to add to the board? Besides Lee and Lies. I didn't think so. Go watch FU play and give us something relevant. Panties and diapers? Kind of a weird old troll.

Ok Dennis. 2:30 am? Most people have jobs. Hopefan, is Prin the real deal this year? GC has taken up the "system" Interesting. Spalding has been a great addition to the SLIAC. With that thought, is it time for a new name? St. Louis, with only Webster and FC left, and maybe Prin, is not longer, IMO descriptive. Of course Denny will take this is a slam at Lee and start praying for my soul again; but is it time for a name change?

WUPHF

I would support the name change.

How about something with rivers since you can navigate the twains of the Missouri, Mississippi, Illinois, and Ohio to within a reasonable horse drawn carriage ride of every college in the conference?

Denny McKinney

Medical needs doesn't no what time it is. WUH I would agree with a name change.
