Basketball junkies (a group that includes pretty much every coach I've ever met) always "take really close note." And the possibility is always there that Grinnell will win the MWC tourney, which means that you could thus be forced to play the Pioneers in March. So there may be no avoiding them, even if (like most midwestern D3 teams) you stay away from the Pioneers during November and December as though their uniforms were made out of limburger cheese.

Wow. I thought I was on the CCIW board. A full page to determine how much of a heads up the IWU coaching staff had. Well wet got that straight. ;D ??? >:(

Sorry for the hijacking, but if it wasn't for hopefan this board would be nearly comatose!  If you guys aren't gonna use it more, somebody's gotta help fill the space! ;)

Exactly, Chuck.

What gives, Denny? When you're not griping about non-SLIACers posting here, you're griping about All-American Redhead's comments regarding how your dad ran the Fontbonne program.

Well, at least you're no longer constantly giving poor hopefan an earful these days. ;)

(I mean, I understand why you take umbrage at AAR's comments regarding your dad's coaching, but you really do seem to be in a bad mood every time that you post here.)

You are very right gentleman. It's not my place to comment on where anyone posts. My mood is a result of personal circumstances. Carry on men and make it a great season.

Quick review... Dubuque beats Mac 79-67 in game I attended... remember the name Andre Norris, he had 37 for Dubuque
Greenville loses to No. 8 Elmhurst, 123 - 111.... only the score has been available so far...no box score yet
Westminster down vs Millikin  65-56
Blackburn down to Capital  93-68
Iowa Wesleyan down to NAIA Wayne (Nebraska)  99-85

I'll write up Mac - Dubuque tomorrow morn....

Big Daddy corrected me, Coach Neals played at Harris Stowe, not MO Bap. However, MO Bap did play a JC schedule through the 1960's. They also played some 4 year unaffiliated schools. Things were pretty loose back in those days.  I am going to try and find a little more on it. Also, Hannibal La Grange played as a Juco into the 70's.

Back in the old days, there was so many great fringe college teams in the area. I loved talking about the old days with Lee and miss him. How many remember Sanford Brown having a team? A great story. These guys coached and played the game for the simple love it. This is an old story but worth the time to read: http://www.riverfronttimes.com/stlouis/underdogs/Content?oid=2464554

AARedhead. Did you coach FC's former PG, Melissa Stewart, during your tenure at Central?

hopefan

Note to system fans. Greenville down 4 with ball and missed versus Elmhurst. Final score not indicative of how tough GC made it on Elmhurst. G C is learning.

Today's Elmhurst vs Westmin is tough to watch, WC down 30 with 7 mins left.  On the other hand, WC ladies in great game with Elmhurst, Westmin won 101-100 in double ot.

mellisa was a nice player at FC. Never saw her at HC so not sure who her coach was. I have coached about as much as you have, very little.

hopefan is gonna tell it like he sees it..

THREE of the best players in this conference, maybe the 3 best 3-4 men in the league (no not you, Tim Daniel, keep doing what you're doing), need to look at your stat lines from Saturday and say s**t, I need to be doing something different... your college basketball lives last 4 years and you're throwing it away twiddling your thumbs out on the three point line.

And you should know who you are if you read this....

did a little more checking. I was wrong on Coach Neal at MO Bap Jr. College. It was Lee Winfield I was thinking of. Played there in the mid-60's after graduating from Sumner. His coach was Ed White and the school was known as MO Bap JUCO. Found an old program from a tournament in Flat River. I am a hoarder. That JCCO era 1965-1970 is my all time favorite for basketball in the St. Louis area. It was kind of like the Old West. A lot of players coming out of the military back then, many late 20's even 30's on the JUCOs. Time of the mandatory draft and Vietnam. Teams springing up everywhere. Some established like Moberly and Flat River, (now MAC), but a lot of here today gone tomorrow programs.  Very little central organization control. Players would come and go, never knew game to game who would be on a roster. Hey, sounds a lot like FC when Lee was there. Gotcha Dennis ;D Hey, Dennis, JUCO bb in those glory days would make a great book.
