Thanks Hopefan. Your usual good job recapping the nite.

Thanks from me as well.  I have not seen any other poster on D3boards.com single handily sell a conference story so well.

Ok, now I am upset. Who gave me + karma points? I have worked hard to build my negative points. They tell me there is a poster on the football boards who has over 400 negative karma points!! A legend and my idol.

Ok, let's try these to raise some negative karma points:

Wash U is a prep school for rich spoiled east coast kids who couldn't get into Ivy League schools.

Dr. Nesmith stole his basketball idea from his college roommate Lee McKinney

SLIAC stands for: Slightly Lower than Intermural Afterschool Club

Terrorist have invaded Principia's campus armed with aspirin.

If Larry Bird had not been white, he would have been rated as just an average player.

Hope Fan is Dick Vitale's long lost twin brother.

All Right,  let's get that negative karma coming my way.

Ironically, I gave you +karma the other day for something you said, but I do not remember now.  I like some of the jokes you say and I do not like others.  But, based on things you have said and a few private exchanges we had a long time ago, I have this idea in my head that you know everything there is to know about St. Louis area basketball.

Otherwise, you may be surprised to know just how many kids we have from Chicago and the West Coast.

thank you sir, i think. this old redhead learned as the years flew by that the less serious you take yourself the more fun life is.

In all seriousness, WASH U is a great institution. They have been a model of civic good citizenship for many years. They have been huge in making the st louis area what it is today, Ivy League rejects and all.

A very quick glance at today's games.... WHO is for real?

Eureka at Spalding.... if Eureka can beat Prin with intensity, no reason they can't beat Spalding.. but thay have no one to combat Nick Trisko if Spalding plays it smart...

Webster at Prin... I'll be at this one.. will find out where Larry Patterson is...also wonder if the X-man will return for Webster... here's another game where size is different.. can Prin use it to their advantage... if they try to win this game from the 3 point line vs Webster's zone, it won't work..

Fontbonne at Iowa Wesleyan... Can't see Fontbonne matching up with IWC's quickness, intensity...

Mac at BC...  Creal won't let Mac lose this one

Greenville at Westmin... I wouldn't have thought Westmin could combat the system, but then who had a clue they could beat Spalding.... who knows....

I'm going to root for Spalding. Prin, Font, Mac and Greenville and Frame the resulting standings with 10 teams at 1-1.... but I can't imagine it will work out that way....

I've always been impressed with the way Prin has attacked Webster's zone. Other than what IWC did to shred the zone at Webster last season, I don't think I've seen another SLIAC team that runs an offense against that zone as well as Prin does. Last year at Prin Webster trailed by 8 at halftime and had to put on a furious press to start the 2nd half and get back in the game, then win it in OT.

Anxiously awaiting Hopefan's recap from the Webster-Prin game.  Saw that the Gorloks were down by 12 at the half and ended up winning by 2. Must have been a helluva second half.  Keep it rolling WU!

hopefan

Great game at Prin... will do some writeups on all... tomorrow morning.... new faces are coming to the rescue for the Gorlocks... and give Prin all the credit in the world too...

Guys, I'm sorry.. huge writeup, all of a sudden it was gone.. I just can't do it all over again...Webster... Tevan Evans, Evan Milligan made the difference... solid guard play from 4 man rotation of Moore, Etter, Dortch, Odjo...   Prin super job, ran out of gas, big impact when Ross picked up 4th... Asumu had legit 3 point attempt for the win, off the back of the rim!!!

From now on, writeup in WORD, copy over to D3hoops...

Bummer. Even though I was there, I was looking forward to what you were going to say. Take a break and try again later.

For Prin, Justin Ball was unstoppable in the early going. Evan Milligan did a nice job defending him late in the game  (he wasn't in to defend early in the game) but Ball was tired, so that may have made a difference. From the box score it's clear that one difference for Webster was going 16-18 from the free throw line. Even though Webster was down 12 at halftime, they used some pressure defense in the first half instead of waiting until the second half like thy did last year, which might have added to Prin's fatigue as the 2nd half progressed. Ball and Ross both got into a little foul trouble so they couldn't defend as aggressively in the 2nd half when Webster got the ball inside.

C'mon hopefan, give us the rest of the story.

In advance of Webster vs. Washington University at the Field House on Wednesday, I am suspending my support of the #WhyNotWebster campaign.

It has been almost five years since Webster trimbled Washington University at Grant Gymnasium.  Here is the box score from that dreadful night: http://bearsports.wustl.edu/sports/mbkb/2010-11/boxscores/20110112_g2bh.xml

Washington University played well that night except for one stat line: 1-16 (6%) from three point range.

Webster held a 6-7 point lead late in the second half thanks almost entirely to the offensive heroics of Willie Trimble.  The Bears had a late push and got two baskets to close the gap to two and with one final defensive stop, Ben Hoener had one last look from three point range for the win.  But to no avail.

hopefan

Good Memory, WUH....and let me tell you, though he doesn't have the leaping ability Willie Trimble had, Iowa Wesleyan's Chris Fowler may be his equal in all other aspects of the game... Fans should catch him when IWC comes to town...
