Iowa Wesleyan hosts Westmin... the two teams tied with Mac with 4 losses... I can't comprehend how Fontbonne took apart Iowa Wez on Wednesday, and no one else posts on this page except a rare YJack or ECred post, so I guess we won't find out...

Fontbonne at Spalding... if this one had been at Fontbonne, I might have stayed here to watch.. no Louisville trip though... this is a MUST WIN for Spalding.. I still have confidence that they can find enough offense to get it..tough for Fontbonne to come off that trip and win at narrow Spalding court... and injury questions... who knows.. WOTS doesn't seem to reach me....

WOTS reached you yesterday because I made one of my rare posts. Unless you think the WOTS needs to reach you via the original source, I'm not sure what you're griping about.  :)

Griping that no one other than you and me posts... would be so much more interesting to have knowledge of some of the other programs... at least when Denny posted, there'd be a little additional info.. now, with neither of us connected, there's nothing.. I can guess your source on Fontbonne, and it was appreciated ;)...  And my gripe is, readers see these games... ie the Fonbonne Iowa Wes game, but no one writes anything about them... it's difficult to find out WHAT HAPPENED!!!
Remember, back in the day, at one time or another, we've had fairly regular posters that would write about Fontbonne (Denny), MacMurray (who can ever forget the rantings of MacAttack), Greenville, several from Eureka, and for a while, even Blackburn.   and come to think of it, a rare sighting from Westmin...  So only Spalding and Prin and recently Iowa Wes have never had a writer....

Mr. Ypsi

hopefan, as you know, I 'lurk' regularly, but being a CCIW (and MIAA) guy, and living in Michigan, I have absolutely nothing to contribute.  So far as I can recall, the ONLY SLIAC game I have ever seen was the first half of Westminster @ #1 Hope in the 2012 tourney.  Having already watched my Titans knock off UWSP (who, with their AA injured was not even really a tourney-worthy team), and Hope riding a late-first-half surge, I heard the clarion call of one of my favorite places on earth, the Holland Brewing Company Brewpub!  (I thought the Westmin/Hope game was essentially over, but have heard I missed a helluva second half, even if Hope did eventually win by 14.  Still, it was awfully good beer! ;D)

Since SLIAC games are generally the same time as CCIW and/or MIAA games, I can't even watch them online (my poor old computer can't handle more than two or sometimes three games at once).  And, while I don't recall now why, I missed the Greenville/IWU noncon game.

So keep up the good work - you have some appreciative readers, even if we are silent.

Things looking up for the hopefan SLIAC dream season if someone can gat a win over Mac. IWC (not tourney eligible) drops Westminster back into a 3 way tie for 2nd place with Webster, who pulls away from Eureka in the 2nd half, and Greenville  who downs Blackburn on the road. Webster holds tie breakers (if it comes to that) over Greenvillle and Eureka, but still has to face 4 of the 5 tourney eligible teams they've lost to -- at home vs Blackburn (on Wednesday) and Spalding, and on the road vs Fontbonne and Westminster. Other games are at Mac and home vs IWC. The best scenario, of course, is win out.

It's IWU now, y_jack, not IWC.

Thanks. Never too old to learn. Since their website is iw.edu I guess for SLIAC sports purposes we should refer to them as IW to avoid confusion with you know who.

Call the Iowa boys IWU if you like, y_jack. Won't bother me any. ;)

But I would get confused!  (Of course, confusion is my natural state, so ...)

Wouldn't want to confuse anyone. I'm going with IW to refer to Iowa Wealeyan on these boards.

Webster played very well today... in my mind, best game of the season for Hunter Ward, getting good shots, crashing the boards, being creative in the high post against Eureka zone...Eureka didn't come close to matching athleticism of Webster... will write it up complete tomorrow morn... got some things to say about ladies' game too...

A look at Saturday's SLIAC games:

A nice day for my 2nd Eureka to Eureka trip in a couple of weeks... not bad, no troopers, no deer, and very little traffic either way... Good conversation with Webster Coaching staff and Eureka fan/poster ECRed...
I expected two close games, women and men, but seemingly the better team pulled away in both instances in the 2nd half... Still an enjoyable afternoon of D3/SLIAC hoops...

LOUD atmosphere, nice crowd, though why not 800/900 rather than 500  given that fantastic improvement to Eureka's court and seating.. the fun atmosphere should be worth more students staying on campus over the weekend for the games rather than heading home... Support from locals/alums was certainly there..Great to see so many adults from the Eureka community wearing Eureka paraphenalia, filling up reserved seating nicely...

That being said.. I've got a couple of significant observations....  A number of student fans sit under one basket, right off the court.. their behavior on both game days that I've been up at Eureka has been unacceptable, the worst I've ever seen at a SLIAC game... coming off the bleachers, screaming at Refs within feet of them, screaming at individual players from the opposition.. right in their face.  After witnessing a constant barrage of abuse during the ladies game, I unobtrusively asked one of the officials of the men's game if anything could be done... his response.. "It's been an ongoing problem here (Eureka)...  We can say, that's it, but it doesn't end it... it would be nice if Game administrators took care  of it..."  Where is the Eureka Admin???  Something is wrong upstairs if the conduct I witnessed is condoned by Athletic Dept staff.... this behavior wasn't cute, wasn't amusing, but was nasty, and likely uncomfortable to many....something is wrong when a young man is ejected from one game, walked out of the gym treated as a hero, and is back in his same seat, pulling the same crap, the next game.....

2nd observation... two weeks ago, I commented that the Prin-Greenville game got VERY chippy, and admired Greenville for backing off.. lo and behold, chippiness by Prin escalated to an altercation and suspensions in their next game... well, now, I'll say I saw some significant chippiness in the Webster-Eureka women's game.. hard fouls, flying elbows, unsportsmanlike displays in the hand shake after the game... some of these plays could easily have resulted in someone getting hurt, and no one should want to see that....and let me say, any doubters among you, these were HARD fouls, and FLYING elbows by strong women, that you would not want to get in the way of....

As for the game writeups... maybe a little later....

ahh shoot, call me old fashioned, I guess...

^^^ This is important stuff for people to read about and know about. Probably a more important reason for an impartial observer to be at all these games than your post game write ups,. I hope this information finds its way to the people who can do something about and that they then actually DO SOMETHING to curtail it.

You know, you should find out who that unbiased fan is and invite to discuss SLIAC hoops on Hoopsville. :)
