Road trip anyone?    ::)

Nov. 26, 2016   Saturday Afternoon after Thanksgiving

The new kid on the System block.....   Greenville
at
the System originator.......   Grinnell

around 5 hours from St. Louis...

This is one game I'd love to see.

Interesting point... the two systems certainly differ
Grinnell averaged an incredible 56 3 point shot attempts per game
Greenville in their first year running the system, averaged  45  3 point shots per game
Grinnell scored 106 pts per game, Greenville scored 112 pts per game

Grinnell had no roster seniors that played on a regular basis last year
Greenville graduates two seniors, Tim Daniel and Andrew Scott who averaged 27 ppg between them....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

This game was set-up last offseason when Greenville contacted Grinnell about adopting the system. The interview on Hoopsville last year discussed the home-and-home series as part of the entire story. Makes you appreciate some things about the relationship.

YIKES... another interesting scheduling tidbit... Blackburn's 7 non conference games are ALL on the road... ALL of them.... in tourneys at Carroll and Nebraska Wesleyan, and playing at Wabash, Illinois-Springfield, and Elmhurst.... Wonder if this was done by Coach Kollar in an effort to prep his team for the Conference Road games, or if Blackburn simply couldn't lure any D3 teams to their somewhat inhospitible barn....  I will say BC has glossed up their court significantly in the last five years with new lights, a shiny floor and new seating on the team benches side, but the reputation of cramped quarters likely keeps many teams from considering a trip to Carlinville... and the fact that BC is beginning to win some games after an 8 year drought doesn't help either...  Go Beavs!!!

Not much friendlier is Fontbonne's newly released schedule, which has ONE non conference home game... Illinois Tech... Such a draw!!!   Well at least the Griffs get to play in Florida on New Year's Eve, as playing at Augie, Wash U, and D2 Maryville is not likely to be much fun.

This was posted on the ODAC board by gordonmann because it quotes several ODAC coaches. But I'm guessing it applies across the country. So much hard work D3 coaches have to put in to get players. http://www.newsleader.com/story/sports/2016/07/15/summer-basketball-helps-players-get-d3-looks/87134108/

I'd never encountered the term "grassroots basketball" used for AAU until I read that article.

Also, it's en masse, not "in mass". ;)

So you're saying it's not to improve their Pool C chances?

I noticed that, too.

The term Pool C has no logical meaning to SLIAC coaches😉

Since there is no SLIAC football page I'm posting this here. And yes, even though the article doesn't make it clear, this the SLIAC Westminster, not the one in PA.

Indeed -- the SLIAC teams play football in the UMAC. But that board is kind of quiet. This is a great story!

Fantastic Story... Good job YJack!!  Wonder if the hero, Jacob Ellis, a senior from Columbia-Rock Bridge, could pull down a rebound or 2 for the 'Jays on the basketball court??

KMOV TV in Saint Louis is doing a story about this right now.

WUPHF

That is a cool story.

I forgot to post this back in April, but Hunter Ward was awarded the Webster male athlete of the year award last year (would have thought a chess player would have won that...) and the Webster Journal did a great job telling his story.
