49 44 grinnell 6  mins.  Greenville in awful foul trouble
Well that didn't post
72 59 grinnell half. Greenville shooting horrible, giving up far too many offensive rebounds, and Fouling awful. Grinnell 22 for 30 From foul line. Greenville 6 for 26 from 3's

Final: Webster 99 - Rust 81. Not that close, though. Webster up close to 30 points with 4+ minutes left.

151 128 grinnell. I am embarrassed, not by the score, but by the behavior exhibited by the team that I support.

It may be that a certain Webster senior has been reading the boards.

Look at that stat line: 24 points on 8-10 shooting from the field (3-3 from the perimeter), 5-5 from the line along with 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, 1 foul.

Have to consider the competition, but still...

Unfortunately, I did not get to watch it but it looks like Westminster started off slow yet again and still managed to take Nebraska Wesleyan to the wire as the Blue Jays fall 104-103.

The Blue Jays trailed by as many as 20 in the first half with the score at 46-26, but the second half featured a host of runs by both teams and Westminster drew close on a number of occasions.

Nebraska Wesleyan lost their first game by 10 points to Division II Rockhurst, but has gone 5-0 since scoring more than 100 in each of those games.  4 of those games were against SLIAC teams.

The Blue Jays matched up very well on paper...Nebraska Wesleyan did have 5 more made three pointers and 11 more trips to the free throw line.

Jimmy Villalobos had one hell of a game with 36 points and 7 rebounds.

WOW.. in a turnabout up at Nebraska Wesleyan, Blackburn beats Cornell on Saturday night, after Cornell had beaten Westminster on Friday... go figure!!

EC over Monmouth 89-86

Shea.  Feehan.  Show.

After a tepid start, Feehan goes for 37 in the 2nd half on 8 of 13 from three.  And these weren't open spotted up looks, these were bombs off the dribble under pressure or pulling up on the dead run in transition--tremendous shooting display.  Key play came with 1:30 left, intentional clear path foul off a Nate Bell steal at half court.  Huge mistake, Feehan makes two, gets fouled shooting three on the out of bounds, and hits all three fouls shots, game tied.  Very nice home win in front of a loud crowd largely devoid of students clinging to T-giving break.

All of a sudden, the Principia - Eureka matchup draws real interest... who would have EVER thought... but the image of Prin's Anumu and Eureka's Feehan swishing countless 3's is a promising event... can you imagine if either played for Greenville!!??

The first Prin Eureka matchup takes place at Eureka on Dec 10.

For ANYONE planning on going to the Transy at Greenville game tonight, or the Spalding at Prin game tomorrow night...

BEWARE!!!

Both of these games are single games (no women's game prelim) that start Early... at 6 PM... likely in order to get the visiting teams home an hour earlier... glad I checked, as I assumed incorrectly both would be a 7 PM start.

6:00 PM !!

Greenville got it turned around nicely vs Transy last night... was wondering if some heads would be hanging after the Grinnell game, but Greenville came out strong... Transy really had things figured out in the first half and scored a boatload of layups, but whether it was the pace of the game or a Greenville adjustment, The layup opportunities decreased dramatically in the second half, and Transy missed a large number of perimeter shots as Greenville pulled away.

While I can't stop watching Greenville run the system, the number of forced bad shots by a couple of the guys really frustrates me... it almost appeared that whoever got the ball over the midcourt line was going to shoot it somehow, and it resulted in horrendous shot selections trying to get through the paint.  The one guy who has been most successful with this style is Shane Smith.. strong, great moves, and he does get up to the basket... why he doesn't touch the ball more often is beyond me.... Two other seniors, Elmo Smith and Michael Hohm are also playing very well, lots of activity around the basket, good shots...Kenny Greene starting to shoot better. he hit a backbreaker as Transy was making a comeback.

The big question is... which teams in conference will play smart enough to figure things out vs the System.  Transy did for a half, but seemed to deviate from their success in the 2nd half....

Conference season opens tonight with Spalding at Principia..

Prin had their win at Millikin, with Adaku Anumu shooting out of this world...but Millikin is really weak this year.

I can't depend on Anumu shooting like that again, and in what could be a close game, the veteran coach may have it over Prin's rookie...  I'll go with Spalding, but this is a true hopefan game... I just want the decision to come down to the final possession!!
