Well I was one reader! I really want to Greenville in the NCAAs for the sole reason of seeing if "The System" can make a run! Had to make a HS game last night so I was unable to stream part of the Greenville game last night as I planned.... hopefully I can catch part of the 'ship!

I try to read up on the posts too. But most, if not all, of my contributions would be fantasy basketball related. The WIAC is a power conference but the posting there is limited too...less than the MIAC. The CCIW is king when it comes to posting. The WIAC probably has a handful of dedicated posters, but there were more in the past...

There's definitely a lot more lurkers who don't post than you think. I've had people come up to me in Salem and at Point games commenting on my posts and I have no idea who they are.

Here's a test. Record how many views this page has starting today or whenever. Check in a few days or a week and you'll probably get 100s of views, proving that your stuff gets read!

8:24 am EST 1306857 views

Believe me, I do that... I found it interesting that when my comments tapered off and were clearly not first hand (I was in Florida in January), views went down to about 400/day... I was very pleased that in the last two weeks, they've averaged about 650 per day.  Still it amazes me that when I put something controversial up (and that has been slightly more a design of mine this year in than in the past, as in particular I have critiqued some individuals for their behavior), it has generated ONE, only one, rebuttal.  And doing things like selecting an All Conference team.. NO ONE disagrees with my picks?  It would be so much more inspiring to have someone come on with opposing views... I've had a couple of people say they don't read very often anymore since Denny left cause the best stuff was when he and I were 'disagreeing'!!!!  WUH writes, but he doesn't come to SLIAC games... YJack comes to games, but writes pretty much only in the ODAC room cheering for his alma mater.... Well I do appreciate the views, and it really pleased me when one or two of the players or their parents have told me they read here religiously.  It's just tough to do without positive feedback...

We could have TWO system teams in the NCAAs with Rhodes making their conference semis. On top of that, we could have scoring sensation Ty Sabin from Ripon. He's in the MWC final after scoring 50 last night.

WUH writes, but he doesn't come to SLIAC games...

I have been to three league games and five SLIAC games if you include the Webster and Fontbonne.  I have watched a few more online.  I am not commenting on games I have not watched.

I have a genuine interest in SLIAC games and enjoy watching what I am able to watch.  I'll try to post if I watch a game, but I don't always do that.  I have posted a few Massey updates to recognize the overall quality of the league this season.  If that does not add some value, I am happy to stay in my UAA lane.

It may be that most people who visit the thread want you to be the arbiter of all things SLIAC.  That was the opinion of one poster last night.  I understand why.  You bring the coaches resume and follow the league like no one else.  Its remarkable, actually, the extent to which you know a Division III league.  I think you are going to have to find solace in the page views and the page views alone.

I am probably the referenced poster...  Let me clarify.  I'm happy to hear from anyone who chooses to comment on the games, and this was clearly a great and suspense-filled game.  Hopefan had just commented on the gym being full.  I could realistically anticipate that he'd eventually provide the game detail.  Moreover, I understood his wish for greater affirmation for the good job he's doing.  There's no expectation that hopefan be the "arbiter of all things SLIAC", but the shoe fits, and he's wearing it.  I expect hopefan would be happy to loan others his shoes, and I'd like that as well.  Living in Michigan I'm unlikely to have meaningful commentary on the SLIAC, but I enjoy the good objective information that's provided here.

I try....What is somewhat special I think, is that I have no favorite team in the conference... I pick the games I go to with the fact that they are likely meaningful to the standings... and I always hope for a last possession decision, not caring a bit which team wins (unless of course  a win by a particular team tightens up the standings.)  And it's always fun to root for the underdog (my fancy clearly going to Prin this year).  I do "adopt" certain players because I like the way they play, which clearly leads to my seemingly unorthodox all conference picks... but guess what, I still like mine over the Coach's picks ;D.

and WUH.. ;D  I didn't see you at the conference tourney.....

Speaking of the conference tourney... total congrats to several who don't normally get congrats...

The officiating I thought (remember my objectivity) was outstanding... it's a conference tourney, extremely important to everyone, let 'em play... and the officials did... some serious contact in both games, but calls were made seemingly only at the right times.

Hats off to the SLIAC commish, Agie Morenz, and the Greenville staff for the whole setup, especially the All Conference awards presentation between the games... the awards ceremony was orderly, accurate, names and awards loud and clear so that all the individuals received the attention they deserved.

Fontbonne games? this year?   I have gained respect for Coach Thornhill's ability to get something out of the remnants of prior year's recruiting disasters, but stopping in across the street from the office  a couple of times to watch them compile a 4 win season is hardly anything to crow about.   ;D  I didn't see you at the conference tourney.....

Correction: five SLIAC games if you include the Webster and Fontbonne games against Washington University.  I mistakenly left out that last part.  Three SLIAC league games...one at Fontbonne and two at Webster.  No crowing...

I hope you eventually get the board you are looking for...maybe next year...

Unfortunately, I perceive the number of my SLIAC posts will be cut drastically next year.....

I live in Michigan as does Augie77 and Mr. Ypsi. I do lurk the SLIAC pages as I grew up close to Jacksonville.  But, clearly the CCIW is where I spend most of my time.  And, I do not spend as much time as I used to following other conferences.

By the way, in reiteration on my first team All Conference selections of Elmo Smith and Sean O'Brien vs the coach's having them on 3rd (not even second?) team, I present the championship game stats..

Elmo Smith...29 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists

Sean O'Brien....34 points, 18 rebounds

And I'm hoping Michael Soukup can back up his selection to my first team by going for 10 or 15 points and 10 assists when Iowa Wesleyan plays in the USCAA tourney in Uniontown Pa.
