Westminster falls to Columbia College in exhibition bball, 86-52....   pretty darned ugly, but note that Columbia is the No 7 D2 NAIA team.

Leading returning scorer Jimmy Villabalos doesn't play for Westmin, hope all is ok there...

Westmin attempts 32 3's. only makes 9, 28%.... 3 point offense may be what we can expect to see from the guard heavy Jays... interesting, starter Kobe Wands, younger brother of point guard Carter Wands... Kobe goes 2 for 12, 8 points.... one possible bright spot Andy Bennet, returning big man with limited experience goes 4 for 6 from field, but only 1 rebound in 17 minutes.  Bennet is not on the published Westmin roster at this point in time, I thought he might be gone, but it must have been an oversight.

Westminster is preseason Favorite in the SLIAC per coach's voting.....

Did you watch the Westminster game?

I watched parts on my phone with no audio.  I thought for sure Jimmy Villabalos was in the game, so later last night when I went to check just how many three point field goal attempts were made, I was surprised not to see him in the box score.

The Blue Jays kept pace with Columbia through the first 10 minutes or so, but the Cougars could not miss after that.  Coach Mitchell cleared the bench with 10 minutes left.

No... didn't watch... could there be a mixup in box score.?  Maybe a Westminster poster could let us know ;D ;D ;D

Wow... totally agree... great writeup... everything you ever wanted to know about Eureka hoops...  looking at North Texas writeup, EC will be badly outsized.. North Texas starts 6'1", 6'3", 6'3", 6'5", 6"9"... North Texas has new head coach, coming off very poor year, start 3 sophs, 2 frosh...

Final score 122-65.... EC never in it... Shea Feehan had 24 points and got to the line a bunch of times... but only 5 for 16 from the floor....other shooter Hank Thomas finished with 13... 3rd starting guard Ryan McElmurry finishes with 8... EC doesn't have the inside game to compete with D1, but should be sufficient in the guard oriented SLIAC.. EC 25 turnovers, shoot 37% from the field overall.. but 41% from 3's....outrebounded huge, 48-23

Just a reminder... Principia plays at McKendree tonight, 8 PM Central  (it is not listed on the D3hoops site.. I've given up on Prin sports info)... the Blackburn Women play McKendree women at 6... Regular season openers for both McKendree teams, should provide a high scoring positive evening for their fans (SLIAC teams to the slaughter??)

Just maybe can the Prin men be competitive.. hard to imagine with the roster situation..

the game is on a McKendree internet site...

They'd probably be pretty good if it was 3v3 with Goodman, Davidson and Paulson.

Prin falls to McKendree, 88-63... 25 turnovers, 8 by Micah Paulson... Paulson goes for 27 points though, forces the action... it's just a matter of whether his teammates can keep up...Trevaughn Goodman gets 13, continues to go to the basket as well as anyone in the conference, but was in foul trouble most of the night...  Davidson strangely out of the offensive mix, still gets 13 rebounds... Gotta get more out of Ross in the offense, but wow, he shows 5 Blocked shots... Brennan Paulson fits in nicely, plays hard, 1 turnover in 37 minutes....the bench, 5 players, 29 minutes, 3 points, 4 rebounds, 6 turnovers, it will probably be like that.

I'm convinced Prin will compete for a top four spot in the SLIAC if the iron man 5 stays injury free and if they each can play 35 minutes per game staying out of foul trouble... must get Davidson and Ross the ball in whatever their scoring positions might be...that's up to Micah Paulson...

Eureka plays at Loyola Chicago tonight... yep, hopefan can remember watching the NCAA Championship game as a young teenager when Loyola beat Cincinnati in OT... and Distinctly remember rooting for the high-scoring underdog Ramblers... wonder if any of Harkness, Egan, Rouse, Miller, Hunter will be in attendance tonight?  (That's said with laughter)   Still the memories, the stories they could tell...

Maybe McKendree had an over abundance of bigs keeping Davidson and Ross in check offensively?
