Well our tight race became no race, as Webster eliminates, Mac, Spalding eliminates Blackburn, Greenville eliminates Principia...

Well, wait a second... Blackburn could still tie either Webster or Westminster....Blackburn plays both this week, and obviously, Webster would have to lose to Greenville, Westminster would have to lose to MacMurray...

In the case of a 3 way tie, which could happen, Blackburn beating Westmin and Webster, Webster also losing to GC, Westmin also losing to Mac, Blackburn would win a tiebreaker, 3-1 vs the other two Westmin and Webster... Westmin would get 4th, 2-2 vs the other two, Webster would be left out at 1-3

if Blackburn beats both, but Webster beats Greenville and Westmin loses to Mac, BC and Westmin would be tied for 4th, Webster would be at least 3rd, and BC would again be in with a 2-0 record vs Westmin..

if BC beats both, but Westmin beats Mac, and Webster loses to Greenville, it gets complicated... Westmin would be at least 3rd, Webster and BC would be tied and they split, and at this point, GC and EC order would be unknown, so we'd have several variables to consider... we'll wait on that one...

ANYWAY, all of this is predicated on BC beating both WC and WU this week... who thinks that will happen???

Without much strangeness, if we assume BC loses to both and GC beats Webster, and Westmin beat Mac... GC 1, EC 2, WC 3, WU 4.... if WU beats GC and finishes tied with WC, WC still wins tiebreaker with WU because they beat then twice...

So likely conference tourney pairings at Greenville would be GC-WU  and EC-WC...

Yjack... the video is still out there if you go to the box score on the D3hoops scoreboard, hit it, when you get to box, in upper left, it has an option to go to the video...
here's my take... some bad plays, one very questionable call, one call that I did not think questionable..

at 1:06, Mac down 8... Mac's Mike Cameron drives to basket, loses control, attempts to put ball up from a low position, and it's blocked by the MUCH taller Nigel Wilcox..Questionable Call #1 a foul is called, I've Watched, can't see contact...makes 2, Mac down 6

Then Bad Play #1  Etienne, for no reason, carelessly throws the inbounds pass off Mike Dunn's knee/leg... Mac gets ball back immediately, Cameron misses a 3, but Mac retrieves long rebound passes out to Cameron who makes his 2nd try, now Mac down 3, 57.5 left on clock

after a time out, Webster again takes ball out, into Crespo who immediately falls down (questionable call #2), it looks like he was fouled, and he throws the ball into the middle where Mac gets it, but (questionable call #3), Mac's Cameron is called for fouling Webster Dunne... again, I'm looking at video, the ball is already in Mac possession, virtually no contact... maybe Cameron was going to foul, but not after Crespo basically put the ball up for grabs..

so now at :51, Dunne makes 1 of 2..., but Cameron comes down and immediately makes another 3 (I could say bad play #2 here) as Webster defender Austin Nation goes behind first pick allowing Cameron the uncontested 3 point attempt.

so Webster up 1 at :42, panic time out of bounds, (bad play #3) Dunne throws it from OB to absolutely nobody but Mac players... so they have ball down 1, full shot clock, use some time, Kendall Davis drives base line, beautiful pass to Zach Hibbert who puts it in... Mac up by 1, :23 on clock

BUt Then.. ultimate Bad Play #4.. Mac's Wade Fox attempts to intercept in bounds pass(remember UP 1) and runs right through Websters Parker Van Nest... Van Nest makes 2, Webster up 1

Mac comes down, misses, but Hibbert has good position for rebound and is clearly fouled by Nation (though Nation objects) as they go for rebound.. Hibbert makes 2 at :9.5, Mac up 1

Webster has trouble inbounding, gets it to Parker Van Nest who goes the length of the court, stumbles in the paint, and the ball goes out with a second on the clock.. (We'll assign a bad play #5.. was Parker Van Nest full court drive what the Gorlocks wanted?)... but wow.. Webster Ball...Questionable call #3, it looks like Van Nest could have been called for either traveling, or double dribble as he fell and lost control of the ball... for a while, I also thought that no Mac player touched the ball either, meaning Mac's ball out, but the ball may have glanced off Derick Bourke, who was standing out of bounds...

Now most controversial call 1 second left, ball ob under basket to Webster... no time outs, nothing set up...Van nest comes from wing to just above foul line and sets a screen for Austin Nation coming to the left elbow... POW.. (bad play #6)Kendall Davis, guarding Nation runs right through Van Nest as the ball comes in... not an acting job by Van Nest, Davis saw it coming, his head is turned, he puts shoulder down, forearm up, Bang...sorry Mac folks, my opinion, a legitimate good play by Webster, a legitimate foul.. if Davis pulls up, or turns his body to slide over or behind the screen, no whistle should come, but he didn't...Square right through it... to me, it was a foul...

Van Nest makes 2, from a goat to a hero in no time off the clock....Webster win....

With that great description who needs video 😁. Thanks and +1.

I would be interested to hear what our CCIW friends think of the last play... TQ, Sager, andOne... whoever... see my post, video easy to get to... legitimate call or not... I already received an adament text that it should NOT have been called....

#1 -- It's impossible to tell from that distance if Wilcox's arm hits Cameron's arm. They come very close to each other, but Cameron's arm doesn't appear to be affected by Wilcox's -- not that that is necessarily definitive. What sold me on the foul being a good call was that the baseline ref was in an ideal position to see the play, and Wilcox didn't protest the foul. Quite the opposite -- he walked away with his head down, which is clearly the body language of a player who knew that he had committed a foul.

#2 -- It was a good call. If you stop and start the video a few times, you can see that, while he did get to the loose ball a split second before Dunn, Cameron extends his right forearm and gives Dunn an armbar as he approaches.

#3 -- I think that the baseline official blew this one. The ball appears to have fallen under Van Nest as he was tumbling to the ground, and it pops out again off to his left, off of his backside as he comes to a stop on the baseline. Bourke never touched the ball, because you can see his black compression leggings well to the left of the ball as it re-emerged from behind the seated Van Nest. It looks to me that the baseline ref was shielded by Bourke, and just went off of the fact that the ball seemed to be moving in the same direction (away from him) that Bourke's left foot was pointed. But, as I said, the ball clearly never hit Bourke's left foot at all.

#4 -- That was the right call. Van Nest was established in the spot, so it was a legit screen. The fact that he slightly brought his right arm up to protect himself doesn't matter, because Davis initiated the contact and not Van Nest, and the contact was into Van Nest's upper chest and not Van Nest's arm. Davis clearly ran into Van Nest with, as you said, head turned and shoulder down.

Interesting finish.

And how about the bizarre incident at the Webster game... seems a former SLIAC player in attendance at the Webster-Mac (not from Mac or Webster) game made some significant trouble around the MacMurray Bench.at the 8:43 mark of the 2nd half, including some very serious threats thrown at the MacMurray Coaching staff...the camera stays on the other end (the Webster end) of the court, but it's clear that most eyes are in that direction, and Coach Bunch hurries off the bench in that direction, as do two of the officials... a loud male voice is heard shouting "get that guy out of here!!!"..Seconds later a Webster security man is seen escorting a person wearing a gray hoodie off the court (on the near side of the court) to a smattering of applause..I observed one Webster player making a motion of drug injection referring to the culprit.... I was supplied with more details, but just want to put down what I see on the video....  the game was obviously held up during the situation...ugly...

That's some crazy goings-on there. What else is crazy is that Davidson put up an unofficial record of 75 fantasy points against Greenville on 46 points (also a Principia scoring record) and 22 rebounds. There was also no Feehan for Eureka again. That's concerning.

YES... what a game by Parker Davidson...I'm kinda suffering burn-out on writing up games now that the standings are pretty much locked, but he certainly deserves the recognition....

Here's an interesting point...
In Prin's first matchup with GC, GC won by 4, Trevon Goodman got national recognition for his game..16 of 18, no 3pointers, 11 of 21 from the line, 43 points, 15 rebs, 14 assts, 3 steals, 2 blocks, 5 turnovers..
In Saturday's game, GC wins by 5, parker Davidson goes 21 of 28, no 3 pointers, 4 of 6 from the line, 46 points, 22 rebounds, 3 assts, 4 steals, 1 block, 1 turnover..
Will he get the same level of recognition?

WOW.... WOW.... Talk about a resounding thud, a resounding NO... Davidson not only not recognized nationally on D3 hoops team of week, he doesn't get SLIAC. org Player of the week... and, he's not even mentioned as an "other notable" for SLiac.org Player of the week

Would love to hear an explanation... I can only think of 2 possible reasons... and sure, I'll put them out there..

1) I did notice Davidson (along with Goodman) picked up a Tech Foul vs Greenville... were his actions bad enough that Prin Admin decided not to submit his name for awards..and I'll answer that... Davidson had just made a put back hoop in heavy traffic, was running down to the defensive end of the court, and got T'd up... most likely, he had said "Mr. Official, Sir, I may have been hammered on that play, too.."  anyway, it was not a significant episode...

2) Hopefully, this was not just an oversight by the Coaching Staff or the SID... if so, pitiful....

A shame I'm not in the area, would have been at Prin-Fontbonne game tonight and found out the answer....

Also noticed that Coach Todd Zimmerman was not on the bench for Prin... Asst Coach Matt Jones, a former Prin player whose on the court heroics were widely publicized on these very pages, took over the helm...

There may be a few knowledgeable SLIAC fans that read this and note the abence/low placement of 3 players who have made a big impact in some games this year... Trevaugh Goodman and Mike Cameron are not on the top 3 teams, Micah Paulson on the 3rd team... I would point out that these 3 are the 3 conference leaders in turnovers per game.... that is a big hitter on my valuation system.... yes, they handle the ball alot, particularly Cameron and Paulson, BUT, they're out there to take care of it....

Great work as usual, hopefan. It doesn't go unnoticed.

I'm currently putting together an All-SLIAC team for my Fantasy League as I have a big enough lead I can afford a few slip-ups by guys who normally don't score a lot.

Maybe a tech foul makes a play ineligible for POTW honors. I think red cards in soccer do that...or possibly just an unwritten rule amongst coaches.

Interesting though... looking back and as I thought, Shea Feehan had 41 against Blackburn, got T'd up twice and ejected, and won Player of the Week 2 days  later....

This must have been an oversight at Prin... someone should call them out....

Well unless you really love SLIAC Hoops, it's a pretty drab night tonight...

as mentioned before.. Blackburn in 5th place, 2 games behind Webster and Westmin
Blackburn must beat Webster tonight to stay in the race.. A Webster win eliminates Blackburn and locks in the 4 teams making the tourney, Greenville, Eureka, Webster, and Westmin...

Westminster plays at Mac... a Westminster win would lock them into the tourney, but a Westmin loss coupled with a BC win would bring things down to Saturday's results...

Elsewhere, Eureka heads to Iowa Wesleyan   (of great interest to see if Shea Feehan plays)

Greenville goes to Spalding...  Greenville needs to avoid the upset, or be vulnerable to losing the host role for the tourney
