As I did last year, I am tracking individual performance for each conference game, assigning 0 to 5 points based on box score numbers... granted an imperfect methodology, but something to work with. Players on winning teams normally will get a few bonus points.  Anyway after 4 games, results at this point are surprising. At least 3 players that I would have considered solid contenders for 1st team honors are far off that pace. And 2 in the current top 5 were virtually unheard of entering the season.  Of course, still many games to play.

I'm going with Greenville's Eric Williams as my SLIAC Player of the Week. Williams had 23 points, 9 boards and 6 steals in a non conference win over Dominican, then came back with 29 points and 6 boards vs MacMurray. He edges out Kobe Wands who had 33 points in Westminster's win over Fontbonne. Fontbonne's Luke Deline and Prin's Micah Paulson had big games in losing efforts.

I'd agree with you on this one. deLine has been more than impressive vs SLIAC opponents, so much so that I picked him up in my fantasy league. He's probably been the most consistent as well. Willaims has been putting up better numbers than his teammate, Dix. Goodman had another poor game for Principia The biggest surprise to me was Eureka putting in a solid game for the win. I had lost nearly all faith in them.

Yesterday's results vs what I wrote

Blackburn over Eureka... BC court a little different, tough to play at, Eureka's record is inexplicable.. Good game, D. King not suited up for BC hurt.. my unsung player for Eureka is Jordan Dehm.. has looked very good each time I see Eureka.  BC had a chance to tie when EC had to shoot with 5 seconds left, but rebound was long and went to EC..

Webster over Spalding.... nope Spalding is not really 3-0 good... wins against 2nd division teams.. Spalding stayed close, Webster breaks away in final 10 minutes

Iowa Wesleyan over Prin... nope, 2vs 5 doesn't work... neither does 1 vs 5... M. Paulson a super effort, not enough

Westminster over Fontbonne... Font looked awful vs Wash U, Coach Mitch won't lose this one... Griffs cut lead to 7 in 2nd half, but never really in it... big game from Koby Wands for Westmin... I made earlier comment liking Font Frosh Cochran and Otwell, both had good games vs Westmin

Greenville over Mac... sorry Coach Creal, I fear this one will be ugly.... Certainly not Ugly, Mac in it until the end... lots of layups for frosh Doherty because Mac looked up the court early... GC Eric Williams early conference MOP candidate...

Busy non conference Monday for SLIAC teams

Prin travels to the West Coast to play Caltech
Blackburn down to Memphis to play at Rhodes
Westminster hosts Buena Vista
Spalding hosts Defiance

Nothing ever comes easy for my SLIAC guys... I'll happily take any win they can get.. none will be easy....

Defiance is 0-8. A home game against the Yellow Jackets is about as easy a non-con game as a SLIAC team can hope to get.

I still think Westminster has a few Buena Vista or Webster quality wins in them even if Massey has their chances against both opponents at 25%.

WUPHF

OK, so much for that prediction.

Tabb, for what it is worth is averaging 16.5 points and 7 rebounds per game after a year away from the game.

Westmin down, but nice win for Blackburn over Rhodes... Karsten Hayes leads the way with 26 points

Greg, you forget, we are talking about the SLIAC. SPALDING misses the front end of several one and ones in the last minute, Defiance scores at the buzzer to win....   UGH

Principia and Caltech went to overtime, so I tuned in.  Prin had the ball with just a second or less on the clock, down two.  They executed a difficult inbounds play that got Goodman essentially an alley-oop to tie - only to have one of their own guys jump up, trying to play the ball, and knock it away.

All I could think: That was the most Principia thing I've ever seen.
