Something interesting I just noticed... the SLIAC board at this second shows 1,997, 940 views.... wonder if we'll get to 2 million before I leave for the land down under next Tuesday??!!

WELL WELL WELL    we hit view 2,000,000 late last night or early this morning!!!!   The SLIAC DOES HAVE A FOLLOWING!!!  (Incidentally, I forget the specifics, but the SLIAC has like the 5th or 6th most views of all D# mens basketball boards!!!)

If this is goimg to continue then you need to keep posting and keep complaining when other people don't post. Without you we are nothing. Hopefan is the MVP of the SLIAC boards.
A timely post YJack as I will likely be away from the boards from 2/12 through 2/28... hoping other SLIAC regulars (you included) will keep info flowing.... the kids deserve it....

Post the views right before you check out and see how many there are when you come back. That'll be interesting.

Saturday... unfortunately another day full of Contender vs Noncontender games... four contenders at home vs noncontenders... but this season has shown that these games can't be overlooked by contenders..

The only contender vs contender game is Westminster at Blackburn... the repercussions are simple...
not mathematically, but it's a must win for Westminster, on the road... it's an opportunity for them to improve their chances,  to stay within reaching distance. of a tourney spot..
on the other hand, a win for Blackburn just about clinches a tourney spot for them, barring a major collapse...

and the games vs noncontenders, the real must win is Eureka, they must beat Iowa Wesleyan... another upset loss for them would basically push them out of conference tourney contention...

As surprising as the current Eureka positioning may be, I fully expect a season ending flourish similar to last year.  They  will get the best version of IWU today after IWU's  underperformance v. Blackburn TH, but Eureka is just too good for them and will begin their run to the playoff today.

35 made 3's by GU.  Most ever in a SLIAC game.  Previous mark was 33.  Bateman and Vinsel combined for 18 of the 35.

That's pretty amazing.

Webster wins at home over Prin 83-72. Had a 14 point halftime lead that went to 21 then got whittled to five. A good, tough game.

With no changes to hopefan standings last night, (Webster +1, BC 0, Font -1, GU -1, EC -2, Westmin -3), this would seem to a good place to break off my posts until Ms. hopefan and I get back from our big trip on Friday night of SLIAC tourney... I will try to catch up on my player performance ratings and have a hopefan all conference team by that Sunday..

Good luck to all the teams/players/coaches/fans of teams over the next two weeks... you guys never post, but I know you're out there reading.... and thanks to the handful of you that do add to my postings from time to time...

I know Hope has have entered the silent period, but if he is in read only mode, as I was for many years, I truly HOPE he have a wonderful time down under.  A few thoughts for his trip, should he check in prior to departure:

- Aussies love it when you use an accent.  Channeling Paul Hogan from Crocodile Dundee is their preference.
- Kangaroos are free to be taken.  Grab one and toss it in your bag.  Same is true for megafauna, but please know that an XL baggage fee is in your future.
- Koalas, MUST NOT BE TAKEN.
- If you are ever called upon to drive, Aussies are cool with you using either side of the road.  It has something to do with the Coriolis effect on the tires.  The Southern Hemisphere is really funny that way.
- Avoid cube shaped poo.  Wombats are no joke.
- If the subject of rugby comes up, just tell the person with whom you are speaking with that you are a HUUUUGE "All Blacks" fan.  They love that.

I hope this is helpful and that you have a wonderful and relaxing trip.

I am sure that most of the SLIAC informed readers saw this, but in the event that others did not, I will post this cool story to the board.   Good on these young men from Principia and Greenville.  There are many great quotes in this story, but the best may be from Coach Patton, "Our goal as a team is to view our competitors as 'teammates in a different uniform' that God provides to help us compete to the best of our ability."  I love that idea.

It is also pretty wild that the SLIAC went 1, 2, and 3 in the 200 at 2019 D3 nationals.

Prin @ Spaulding (Prin -14.5):

In the battle of the short bench, Prin and Mr. Goodman go on the road and prevail.  Spalding has given up an average of 115 over their last three games (104, 140, 101).  Prin will run them into the ground.  Prin has been conditioned to play up tempo games will little rest and I think that it pays off tonight.

For the record, the game was at Prin. Final: Prin 95, SU 91. Having seen Prin at Webster on Saturday I agreed with your assessment. But Spalding beat your point spread easily, which surprised me.

Greek Tragedy

Spalding beat them at home by 2. I would've taken the points, easily. They had three wins going into tonight's game and you had them favored by 14.5??

Yjack. Totally correct about location.  The game was certainly at Prin.

Greek - as for the line... This line may have better than your box score review may reveal.  Specifically, at the 8 minute mark of the second half after Prin had extended the lead to 10 and was pulling away when AJ Byrd went down in pretty dramatic fashion.  Byrd laid on the three point line writhing for the last 10 seconds of the defensive possession.  I am not sure what happened then as the camera panned away from the injured player and those that rushed to his aide.  It may have been something as minor as an ankle sprain (albeit a bad one due to the reaction) or something potentially worse.  That said, unexpectedly losing a player of AJ's caliber from a team that has severely limited depth is quite tough.  AJ only managed 20 minutes last night after playing 34 in Prin's quite competitive game against Webster last Saturday.  Prin did well to hang on for the win in this one, especially with the way that MM was shooting it.  This posters thoughts are with AJ and hope he is ready to go on Saturday when Prin visits GU.

And to MM.  Dang man.  43 points on 21 shots. with a game shooting slash of .620/.555/.923
