Oof ... okay... I can't remember the NCAA language, but that doesn't sound familiar.

Still ... interesting.

The NCAA QOWI was all based on winning percentage, which wouldn't apply to tied teams in a conference.

Yeah ... that's how I remembered it, but I've also tried to flush as much of that equation out of my head as possible ... so I didn't want to assume. :)

Note to self... don't book a room in Greenville for the conference tournament.

At least not until later today when the Wednesday games are in the books.

Massey has the games relatively close.  Webster has a 63% chance of a win.  Greenville has a 51% chance of a win.

Interestingly, Webster is on an 8-game win streak with their last loss at Eureka.

WUPHF

Webster wins the regular season championship with a win over Eureka.  Congratulations to the Gorlocks in general and the senior class in particular.  The SLIAC tournament will be played in St. Louis yet again.

12-5 Greenville remains in second with a loss to Blackburn tonight.

11-6 Blackburn is in to a two-way tie for third with a win over Greenville.

11-6 Fontbonne is in to a two-way tie for third with a win over Iowa Wesleyan.

10-7 Eureka is on the outside looking in with one game left.
__________

The final games of the regular season...

Blackburn on the road at Spalding
Fontbonne on the road at Principia
Greenville on the road at Eureka

If Greenville, Blackburn and Fontbonne all win, Greenville #2, Fontbonne #3, Blackburn #4

I get this because Blackburn and Fontbonne split H2H, both swept by #1 Webster, both split with #2 Greenville, both split with #5 Eureka, Fontbonne swept current #6  Westminster and current #7 MacMurray. Blackburn only split with Westminster and swept MacMurray. So it doesn't matter how those two finish.

If Greenville loses and Fontbonne and Blackburn both win, they all tie at 12-6, Eureka is out at 11-7. Greenville gets the #2 seed because they split with Webster. Then it's Fontbonne #3, Blackburn #4.

If Greenville loses and Fontbonne OR Blackburn win, Greenville gets the #2 because they split with both and they split with #1 Webster while both got swept by Webster...then Eureka gets the #3 because split with whomever loses and split with #1 Webster.

Eureka needs to beat Greenville AND have one of Blackburn or Fontbonne to lose.  Eureka wins the tie-breaker between either of them because they split with #1 Webster while both got swept by Webster.

If Eureka wins and BOTH Blackburn and Fontbonne lose (they all finish 11-7), they all split with each other and then it goes to the Webster tie-breaker again. Eureka gets the #3 and then Fontbonne gets the tie-breaker over Blackburn.

No clue if that's right. LOL

That is everything you need to know about the SLIAC tournament qualifications right there. +1

SLIAC Tournament hosted by Webster University

Thursday, February 27
Game 1: #2 Seed vs. #3 Seed, 6 p.m.
Game 2: #1 Webster vs. #4 Seed, 8 p.m.

Saturday, February 29
Championship: Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2, 1 p.m.

WUPHF

I thought the SLIAC tourney was a Friday-Saturday affair last season.  Did they change things?

Since Hopefan has been off chasing wallabies and gawking at opera halls, there have been 44 posts and 15000+ page views on this board.

I am not sure if the is a good analogy, given Hope's recent  travels, but this kinda feels like the board has been part of a controlled burn.  We'll be stronger upon his return.

WUPHF

This is not a knock against anyone, but I have a theory that in the case of d3boards.com, a poster can be too prominent, too influential...

Others see the posts and say hey, there is no need for me to contribute.

GU1999

That makes sense especially during the ball season.  I just glad that in Hope's absence others have kept the conversation going.  Upon his return, I think it'll be only better and more robust.  ...like the forest after the controlled burn.

So, GU gets the #2 in each scenario, right?

I'm pretty sure it rotates every year. Next year it will go back to Fri/Sat. The women get Fri/Sat this year.

My initial thought was that those were solid numbers. 15k page views in less than a week?

I'm guessing so since GU split with Webster and no one besides Eureka did and they can't finish with the same record...again, I could be wrong on how the tie-breakers work.

Oh, that makes perfect sense about the alternating schedules.

You have two evenings of double-headers and then two championships games on Saturday.  This would allow one school to host both tournaments.

Webster Women's Basketball has a one game lead on Fontbonne and should the Gorlocks lose on Saturday, I believe they have the tiebreaker.  If that is the case, Webster is going to be basketball heaven next weekend.

The St. Louis Sports Commission has a big role in the Missouri Valley tournament, but I think they are missing the riverboat when they mostly ignore the SLIAC and GLVC tournaments.
